The secret to this tone is the P90's pickups, so I lend this Gibson Les Paul Classic from a friend, for the rest I used a Xotic BB Preamp (in very low gain setting) and a Mesa Boogie TA-30 into a 2x12 cabinet with Celestial V30 speakers, but, I've Gilmour got this tone pluggin a 1954 Gibson Les Paul direct into the studio mixer ;)

Jaime Guajardo Thank you for your comment, It’s hard to control thats why i believe this solo is a very good exercise for developing bend and vibrato. One thing that helped me was to lend this LP with P90’s from a friend, i always thought Gilmour was recorded this with a Strat, but i was completely wrong...when i discover he played a 1955 Les Paul i understood how he holds some notes for such a long time, then it becomes easier, but anyway, great solo for practice. ;)

Aqui está um qoute do site Gilmourish "Replicating the album version is very difficult becuase they recorded the solo lined directly into the mixing board, fed it out through an amp and recorded it again. They probably used a lot of compression and limiting as well. "
      Bom trabalho!

This is an interesting thought, the thing is we learn music by copying the same way we learn how to talk, we hear and we replicate, even when we don't know what our first words and sentences means exactly. We are always derivative, and so are our idols, because they tried to emulate someone at the beginning, they are the derivative of their influencies. So I don't do these videos to show how good I am, I do these for the same purpose you said it in your comment, to show how good these guys are and so others can learn and improve their musical and guitar skills by emulate them, and then you move on but now with a richer vocabulary, thanks for your comment and support ;)

The only drawback of this video is that now I can't play it on anything other a Les Paul with P90's. The whole thing suddenly sounds an octave low on my Les Paul.😅 I've been tweaking my EQ, and every other tone nob and pedal I have ever since I first saw this vid. It's been an unmitigated disaster. I can't play Gilmour anymore. I sound like a fraud.
The irony is that I only recently learned maybe a month ago that Gilmour played this on a Les Paul with P90's. Otherwise I'd already own one, instead of my 335. I tried it on my 335. It didn't help. This video has sent me down the rabbit hole in search of my lost tone. Eff.

You bloody nail this! Just found out before this vid he actually used a Les Paul with P 90s much like yours to do it. Always thought it was a Strat. Might have to put my Jazzmaster to work on this one since I hate Les Pauls.

I love the look of relief at the end of the solo! It must have taken a lot of concentration to nail. Sounds awesome!

Thank you, and yes, it takes a lot of concentration when we try to play things more litteraly, or as it was originally, even if we never achieve that closeness, it is nice to try anyway, lots of learning. I am glad you dig it. All the best! Keep rocking!
