Hi Terry, on your skip rescue missions look out for pipe insulation. I used it instead of hot spot tape. Cheaper if you have to buy it and lasts longer. It covers the bolts better to. Keep up the good work 👍
It is isn't it.

Cheers Glenn, will keep my eyes open, got 2 years to find some.
♻️ Happy Gardening........Terry.
That’s what I’ve used on my tunnel, I have the same as you Terry, and the pipe lagging works great!
Thanks for the advice.
Any time!
Happy gardening, Terry King.
I Learnt A Lot From That Video Terry Thanks for sharing Take care Mike
Made it last for a few good years Michael, this was the right time to update the polytunnel.

A good repair for little cost. Ive seen the damage to a tunnel once the wind gets inside 😱. Shall you use the replacement cover or fit poly tunnel sheet? I recently helped a guy on our site cover a 6x3 mtr and I was impressed at how much extra light and warmth it has over the traditional green cover. Put it on your retirement list and I will come and give you a hand 😀👍
Hello Nigel, I will be looking to do a temporary job on my Tunnel next year using the cover Carl sent me and raising it by 1 metre so I have time to make adjustments for ventilation, windows, door, guttering before covering with a poly sheet so I don't have to worry about making any design mistakes and cutting in the wrong place.....lol. Will take you up on you offer when the day comes.

So glad it could be repaired!
Its getting into a poor state now, but hopefully it will hold together another 15 months my friend.

Good job. I love fixing things with silicone.
Some of the silicon's are rubbish, but the clear cheep stuff does a great job.
♻️ Happy Gardening........Terry.
Lovely job, well done.
Happy gardening. All the best.
Cheers Benni.

Looks like new Terry. Not "worth" doing, absolutely has to done!!
Cheers
It lasted well as did all the repairs, but eventually as you will see it got passed repair.

Blue Peter's got nothing on you, Terry! 😉! Very resourceful! Like the cardboard fix! Looks like you have sorted it for a good while to come! Thanks for sharing. All the best, Mike.
Carl's cover will go on in 15 months time Mike and I will raise the Tunnel by 1 metre at the same time.

🏴 Love the repairs, can't believe that has lasted 10 years, that's amazing 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Mine collapsed the first winter it went through and I'd paid extra for thicker tubes for the frame. My own fault really I suppose, was too slow removing the snow and it broke every hoop 🙈🙈🙈🙈.
Best wishes
Steve
Hello Steve, this frame is very old and had many covers according to old hands on this site so all I need is a good clear cover in the future and will make a start on it in 15 months time.

fantastic video..I love make-do and mend .. Keep fixing stuff :)
Cheers Kath, to easy to by new when you can make do.

Looks like a great repair Terry. 😊👍🏻
Its been another good repair for now, but its on its last legs.

10 years is amazing! I'm gonna break down and recover mine next year. To many leaks to patch up. I will keep this old cover and use it for shade like I done on the pepper house. That worked out really good. Thanks for the tips on repairing yours up. I really like the dark green covers better then the clear. Have a great weekend buddy!
Eventually I will be using a clear cover, but will make do for a few years yet and next year will used the green cover that Carl sent me.
♻️ Happy Gardening........Terry.
Great job Terry!
Cheers Tim, its holding up really well.

The White one i have is not that much better Mine was used on a building site first though. I think yu have done wonders keeping it going as long as you have. At that price you can not go wrong mate.
Hoping to put Carl's cover on in 15 months time and raise it up by 1 metre to give me time to add permanent windows, door, ventilation and guttering sorted before putting a clear cover on. Cheers Dave.

Great repairs , well done Terry.
Cheers Lorraine, been a good Tunnel cover and it only needs to last 15 months.
♻️ Happy Gardening........Terry.
@@terrykingsallotmentgardening it serves its purpose well. I have a little walk in green house , bought for €20, cucumbers, and other not so hardy plants growing away in there, did all my seedljngs this year in it, tape galore on it. Ut serves its purpose.
We are a little bit alike, probably why you follow me......lol.
@@terrykingsallotmentgardening dont need to spend a fortune to produce, reuse reduce and recycle. You be the first to know if i really go skip diving 🤣🤣. Great ideas you have. I find myself saying, whats he up to now, especially when i saw the toilet brush.
Is that a utility belt around your waist? If so can you remember where you sourced it from? Good repairs look like they will last a while, and agree it would be silly to change the cover until it becomes an absolute necessity. All the best Ben and myself.
Cheers Gary and Ben, its a bum bag and I keep my phone and keys in it especially when wearing shorts.

Cool. Thank you for the video. I have repairs to do on mine. Now I know how to do it.
Glad to help Liz, got a few year out of it until i replaced it. i completely rebuilt the tunnel and raised it by .8 of a meter.
Happy gardening, Terry King.
I know you only spent a few pennies on the repairs but there are adhesives that bond polytunnel (etc) plastics rather than just join them together. Might be worth purchasing if the tearing/abrasion happens often.
Steve
Hopefully it will hold together long enough for me to replace the cover in 15 months Steve and that will only be temporary with the cover Carl sent me. Thank you for your advice as others may find it useful.

Good repairs Terry, I'd love a poly tunnel but my site doesn't allow them
Thats a shame Barbara, thank you my friend.
♻️ Happy Gardening........Terry.
Hi Terry, you always keep on top of maintenance, and that’s a winning formula even though it takes time, Will you stick to the green plastic covering when you renew it next year or will you go for one of the clearer plastics, I’m hoping to get a poly tunnel, the super therm let’s in 90% of light and the smart white let’s in 65% of light but keeps about 15% more heat, but that heat isn’t wanted in the summer? Take care kind regards

THE DAWN CHORUS PLOT
Carl sent me a green cover, not sure on the quality so that will go on initially while I figure out how to raise the Tunnel by 1 metre and design the ventilation, windows, doors and guttering, them I will cover with clear plastic in a few years time. Let me know how you get on if you purchase a good quality green cover Alan.
♻️ Happy Gardening........Terry.
You make some great repairs and are getting better at them all the time, always learning. What will you do with the old polytunnel cover? Looks like you may be able to get some decent sections out of it to maybe make some cloches, or make mini windbreaks of them? Maybe your followers could come up with some suggestions. All the best, take care, Poo
Its getting very brittle now poo and in another 15 months time it will be at its end of life, good suggestion though.

I tried sowing a tear in mine. Didn't work too well.
It's difficult to keep the plastic going once it's had its day, it lasted 3 more years before ripping it self to pieces John.
Happy gardening, Terry King.
worrabout Gaffer tape?
Will have to use that if it gets too bad, looking closely its on its last legs, thank you fro the reminder.
♻️ Happy Gardening........Terry.
Great job! How you have kept that cover going so long I don't know lol. I want to get 1 of these tunnels, but the covers not being great puts me off. Do you think if you covered all the polytunnel frame with foam tubing it would greatly reduce the wear and tear on the cover and it would last longer? I know by doing this it would cost a bit more, but if the cover lasted longer it might be worth it?
yes --- get pipe lagging foam . quite cheap and very easy to put on !
@@pauldavies5655 Yes that's the stuff I meant, but didn't know the correct name for it lol.
Will be reusing the frame so will look out for some on my travels. You can get good quality green covers, but you may as well buy the clear ones, like I will in 2 years. As you have said its the bolts that will be my main issue.
♻️ Happy Gardening........Terry.
Cheers.
@@terrykingsallotmentgardening PLEASE COVER THE FRAMES with just pipe insulation/lagging foam , gives you an extra 2 maybe 3 years life span .
Splashing out the cash eh? Where’s the double sided sticky tape and empty washing up bottle.
And next week a full sized Tracy Island.
Thank you Jason and I think my plots are the Tracy Island of CZcams......lol.
