  • A couple of years ago I bought a 12-inch skill saw chop saw. I didn't use it for the first couple months after I got it because it was winter time whenever I bought it. Once I did start finally using it I came to realize that it was not cutting 45 degree, very well. I made a project or two with it and couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong and why all my 45° Cuts were not coming out 45° after doing a little bit of research and realizing that it wasn't my fault. I found that the saw itself on the backstop was not plumbed Square to the blade. So when you buy a new saw, make sure you check and see that your blade is square with your backstop.

You also wanna stand your square up and make sure the motor and blade is square. There's an adjustment for that usually on the back of the motor hinge area a big wing nut..

Yeah, I actually forgot that my saw could do the 45 degree angled cuts until after I shot this little video and uploaded. Luckily I did use the square to check vertically that it was square and it was and so I didn't need to make any changes there, but I'm glad someone else pointed it out.

I don't know how you could have taken the time to shoot and post this video without taking the time to look up miter saw calibration first.

Simple, I was working on something in my shed, remembered that the day before I figured out my saw was messed up and how i fixed it, shot a 2 minute video about it and uploaded it right from my phone afterwards. No editing or extra effort, just a PSA to make anyone who sees the post to be aware to check their saws if they are having cut angle issues like I was. Thanks for comment and have a wonderful day.
