  • On 10 November 1983, Queen Elizabeth II arrived in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi at the start of a four-day visit to the country. Travelling with Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen was visiting the country for the second time since February 1952, when the then-Princess Elizabeth had her visit cut short after receiving news that her father, King George VI, had died - and that she had ascended the throne. The 1983 visit was therefore especially poignant, and included a return by the royal couple to Sagana Lodge, where the pair were staying when the Queen received the news more than 30 years before.
The Royal visit to Kenya was followed by visits to Bangladesh and India. In Bangladesh, the Queen visited the capital city of Dakha, while the Duke flew alone to the city of Sylhet. The pair then reunited to travel to India, where they were welcomed in the capital of New Delhi. There, the Queen and the Duke paid their respects at the tomb of Mahatma Ghandi.
On 30 October 2023, King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived in Kenya for their first visit to the country since the death of Queen Elizabeth II and Charles' own accession to the throne. The King is expected to face protests calling on the monarch to apologise for Britain's role in Kenya's colonial past, particularly the suppression of the Mau Mau rebellion in the first years of Queen Elizabeth's reign. Formely a part of the colony of British East Africa, Kenya became independent in 1963 but remains a part of the Commonwealth.

On the 6th of February 1952, while in Kenya then princess Elizabeth became the monarch her majesty Queen Elizabeth II, after the sad passing of her father King George VI the night before.
The late monarch returned to Kenya thrice
    1. On a one day visit on 26th march 1972
    2. On a state visit from 10th to 14th November 1983
    3. On a one day visit on 7th October 1991.
Although majority of Kenyans were not fond of her majesty Queen Elizabeth II neither are they of King Charles III, because of the way the British handled the Mau Mau rebellion in the 1950s.
Having visited Kenya thrice in 1971, 1978 and 1987 his majesty King Charles III just arrived in Kenya this morning for the first time as King Charles III.
This visit to Kenya is his first to Africa as monarch of the United kingdom.
From a Nigerian who lives in Nigeria 🇳🇬.

It's fashionable these days to view the monarchy as old fashioned but the Queen was very much involved, interested and concerned for the commonwealth years before anyone alleged they were racist. It just came natural to her.
