  • I describe how to make and install an exup plug on my 07 r6.This is for when you install a aftermarket slip on & throw CEL with code 17 & 18,& want to remove the now useless exup servo. Don't pay $60 dollars that these websites try to charge for a piece that coat $3 to make!!
Credit goes to the guys on the r6-forum for coming up with this.
Enjoy & if you have questions please comment & I'll respond

Your stock exhaust has a flap, powered by a servo. For cold starts,I think. Anyways, that servo fails,so it throws a code. This bypasses the servo so it doesn't throw that code.

+Yair Gutierrez I have the same error code 18 on my new '08 R6 that came with a slip on exhaust. Still has the cat on it though. Don't see any exup valve on my bike so I assume it came off with the stock exhaust which is why the check engine light comes on randomly on occasion. Supposedly this wiring job will trick the ECU into thinking the valve is still there..? Theoretically I think it would work, have yet to do it to mine yet.

    Hi,
I tried, but it didn't work.
After doing all the steps, when I have the bypass installed the bike doesn't START and the light of the immobilizer system is flashing, when disabling the bypass the bike returns to START.
    My bike is a 2006 Yamaha R6!
    What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks!
