I usually burn a crankbait as soon as it hits the water then stop it then start and stop it back and I get alot of bites usually right after the 1st burn on the pause.
I've been using eradic cadences for years on just about any lure I have. It does work, but there are times when the "lazy" retrieve does to. The key is we have to experiment on the water to see what the fish wants. And let's be honest, it can change from one hour to the next.
Some of the data though is anecdotal as there is no control. For every fish we catch doing x or y retrieve, there is nothing to measure against.
Totally agree. I try to impart some type of action on everything I throw.
Always do something to change direction or speed. Like add pause or pops like you said.

I always stop and go my crank baits and spinner baits. It always seems to help. Deep Cranking king David Fritz says to “always” pause your retrieve on a crank bait in the last 10-20 feet after a long cast. Those big bass just follow the crank bait to the boat.
One technique I am going to start doing soon is changing out my 10-12 pound test Fluorocarbon crank bait line to a braid to fluorocarbon set up. I been reading Fluorocarbon line still stretches and the erratic retrieve we introduce to the cast is not as pronounced as we once thought. Using Fluorocarbon the retrieve is more like a crank, the slow down. Where when using braid to fluorocarbon, with no line stretch, when you stop cranking, the bait stops moving.
Great tip! Just act like you're trying to get a cat to go after a cat toy. It's the same exact instinct.
There is a very popular lure in Japan called I motion plug you probably know about it. There is always a time fish react better to less motion.
Hi Tyler, have you ever fished a man made reservoir that is just mud bottom? We got some like that in California and I can’t find any tips on how to find fish in mud bowls like this
Yesterday I was hung up on a rock with a drop shot . When it came loose it slingshotted my worm and I was hit immediately. It culled one bass in my boat 🙌🏼
Same for me yesterday on the chatterbait and the drop shot. Hung up on a rock, bow string to release, immediate hit.

Don't you think most women don't want pink. My girlfriend is super annoyed that so many women's items come in pink and such girly colors. It's definitely outdated.
