@none none Yeah, Federal crimes he will skate on. Here's hoping NY state attorneys can nail him to the wall. He's got no pardon when it comes to state charges. But lets not also forget that the courts have declared that to receive a pardon is an admission of guilt, not quite sure how that works on presumptive charges. So charge him federally anyway, prosecute him knowing he will use the pardon, as soon as he does, that's an admission of guilt. Makes him a convicted felon still, that way no more running for a second term, and blunts the inevitable TrumpTV. Then send him to jail on state charges - best of both worlds.

@@why-even-try-brotendo I think its a federal case that will be thrown out. If its not, he'll be pardoned. I have exactly zero faith in the legal system that has allowed him to get *this* far- let alone one that he packed with federal judges.
If he actually faces any real punishment I'll be a happy person- but there are actual war criminals walking around free because of political power here. I dont see why he'd be treated differently.

When my 3 children were young we lived about 2 hours away from Johnson Space Center and we had season passes so we could take our kids there on a fairly regular basis(once every 8-12weeks). Going that often we didn't buy a lot of souvenirs every time we went, but the kids always enjoyed looking at the things in the Gift Shop. When we got back home after one visit to the Space Center I discovered that our 5 yr. old had helped himself to a cool looking Space Center refrigerator magnet. It was not expensive, only a couple of dollars. But as his parent I had to hold him accountable. We had a long discussion about stealing, and right and wrong, and he expressed appropriate remorse and he thought everything was done. Then I explained that although it was too far to immediately drive back and return the stolen item, we would indeed be going back in a few weeks. In the meantime I would keep the magnet on the refrigerator where he could see it every day. In the meantime, he would have to earn the price of the magnet by doing extra chores and when we went back he would have to explain to the gift shop manager what he had done and not only apologize but show her the magnet and pay for it. That is exactly what he did. He is now a 31yr old. former Marine. Why would I as an American not hold Donald Trump to the same standard of accountability that I held my 5 yr old to? There have to be full investigations of what has happened the past four years by this administration. And if there was wrongdoing they all have to face the consequences of their actions (or lack thereof).

Exactly! A key element that got Trump elected was a rallying cry against 'the elite'. People were sick and tired of feeling like it was one rule for the powerful and one rule for everyone else. If those in high office, such as the presidency or DOJ, aren't held to account, then one of the things that got Trump elected will still stand - making it ripe for the next, more eloquent 'Trump' to exploit for their own political gain. Trump and his enablers all need to be transparently investigated for their crimes, and prosecuted where applicable. Otherwise, the distrust will increase.
Also, having a court case that lays him and his lies bare could help repair some of the division. The die-hard Trump supporters will back him no matter what, but there aren't 70m+ of those - yet that's the number that voted for him. That means there are a lot of people who are caught up in his web of lies. If the truth is exposed to them, categorically, via the court system (rather than the media), there's a chance that they can be 'deprogrammed from the cult' and brought back on side to (hopefully) never make the same mistake again. That significantly lowers the chances of someone being able to 'pull a Trump' again.

Glenn is very right. The asshole trump needs to be indicted now. This will be the first step in limiting the power of the presidency. What trump and his trump party have done shows the importance of re-defining the co-equal checks and balances and strengthening each branch of governments ability to defend itself.
The asshole trump and the trump (ex republican) party didnt use rocket science to pack the government. It goes to show just how stupid presidents like bush and nixon were, that they didnt do this when they had the chance. But then, you need a trump, a barr and a mcconnell to construct a coup. All 3 need to go far far away
