Speak for yourself." Christians are not suppose to hate anyone. So saying "we" just made it seem like Christians are just of the same breed as the world. "We" made it feel like all of us hate a certain segment of people. They could have done very much better than a bland ad like that was my honest feeling. Don't make it seem like Christians are just as much a part of the "We" as everyone else when it comes to hating others.

I think if they go through the trouble of ALL of this (if it is just a hook) then the MAIN point should be loud on clear once they’ve gotten to the website. The gospel truth of Salvation is what’s important here. The saving of souls for eternity, not just someone to relate to while down here.

    I recently watched an old sermon by Voddie Baucham and he said that many Evangelicals and the media portray Jesus as a sissified man. I strongly agree. That "He gets us" is pretty much that. Portraying Jesus as someone He never was. If Jesus is not God in the flesh then it's better to not even believe in Him.
    Those ads keep showing up to me too much, even though I blocked them lol
    Evangelicals are the main people who help refugees in the US. I remember that in a local FB group, someone was asking for information for a refugee family and I told them about a Christian non-profit that was helping Afghan refugees, the person just answered "I prefer no church is involved". Yeah. Matthew 10:22 is something I prefer to be recognized for.

      @@lisaengel5243 That would be good, but I think he is still overseas as of now. I will say this: Any true revival will begin with, and be sustained by, the Bible. Expository preaching and teaching is God's primary means of conveying truth that leads to repentance, sanctification, and godliness -- none of which has anything to do with raising hands, singing, or weeping. From what I've seen, what is taking place at Asbury is based on emotionalism.
      If anyone can show me in the NT epistles where, for example, a sermon by Paul led to people confessing sin, singing, praying, and "forming a deeper connection to God," I'd like to see it. What "revival" looks like in the Bible is a return to the Bible, obedience to God, maturity and growth in the knowledge of God. Anyone can sing songs and cry; in fact, I did that as an unbeliever.

    Very good analysis. The ads made uncomfortable. I listened to one of the gentleman that is behind this on the Moody Bible channel and it did seem as if his heart was in the right place so I was receptive to having a positive opinion of the ads.. I was disappointed. However I am holding on to the hope that some really good things will happen.

    People may say your tone is wrong, but I think you understand us better than a lot of older church leaders. We don't want to be gaslit and have people only share the things they believe with us that they think we want to hear. We don't want to be led to believe we belong at churches only to find out later that they were never clear about what certain roles secretly require of people. Be clear and honest with us about what you really believe and think. Don't try to shape shift into what you think people want you to be.

    Excellent critique of a Jesus that by no means exists through the "He Gets Us" campaign. The verses you cited summed up perfectly our relationship with Christ - "I must decrease so he can increase." Let's get OUT of ourselves in this ME ME ME society and learn that it's about JESUS and NOT about us.

  • @loreebrew38
    @loreebrew38 Před rokem +4

    Allie, you are so right. That is how I feel about my concerns about "The Chosen". I have family members criticizing me because I worry about Dallas Jenkins involvement with a Mormon based production company.
    It also is very concerning that he seems to think as long as his Mormon friends really love Jesus, than that should be all that counts.
    I have people responding saying, "hey, the Chosen is helping Mormon's and others to read the Bible." They don't understand that God tells us that, if even an angel comes bringing a different gospel than the one brought by Christ of the Bible, those people are to be cursed.
    Ironically the Mormon production company is called Angel Studios. It's naive to think this company working with the Chosen could not and will not try to influence the show with Mormon doctrine. After all, that is what Mormonism does, they deceive people saying they are Christian and that they believe the Bible. They are not and they don't.
    I am not just criticized for bringing this up but told I'm being petty and unloving. If I was unloving, I'd keep my mouth shut.

    • @lauracheeverauthor
      @lauracheeverauthor Před rokem +3

      I totally get your concerns, and I do respect them, but I'm here as living proof that some lifelong Mormons have been inspired to seriously read the Bible by watching The Chosen. And man oh man, is the Word of God sharper than a two edged sword. My husband and I left the LDS church and became Christians almost two years ago, and The Chosen did play a very positive role in that. 🙂 We were absolutely DEVOUT before leaving, and God cut that tie and set us free in less than a month after seriously studying His gospel.
      I doubt this will comfort you any, but just so you're aware, Mormons and Christians actually agree on the gospels, (meaning Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. On THE gospel, we couldn't possibly be more different.) Mormons believe in the historical figure, Jesus of Nazareth, just like we do. It's their theology of His deity that's all wrong and backwards and messed up. Which is why Mormons get so defensive when we say that they worship a different Jesus- usually Christians don't define what they mean when they say that. I assure you, if anyone was going to detect the stink of Mormon theology in The Chosen, it would be an ex-Mormon, and so far I haven't seen anything like that at all.
      I do agree that it isn't for everyone, but I hope this helps ease your fears for your Christian brothers and sisters who watch The Chosen. They haven't unknowingly ingested any Mormon-cult teachings from watching it. 😊
      Edit to Add: Allie's interview with Dallas Jenkins is really good. She grilled him until he admitted that we are not the same. 😂 She's an excellent interviewer.

    • @loreebrew38
      @loreebrew38 Před rokem +1

      @@lauracheeverauthor Thank you for sending this message. I am so glad you left the Mormon church and now know the truth. I married a man who grew up Mormon and his family is sadly very entrenched in it 35 years later. I have always, with love, tried to explain to them the reasons Mormonism can not give them forgiveness or salvation.
      My problem with the Chosen is with Dallas Jenkins. I have heard his explanation twice now about his association with Angel Studios and his Mormon friends. It might be different if he truly had a real understanding of the satanic nature of this religion. Maybe if he could assure his viewers that he would never allow Mormon theology into his show, but he can't promise that because he won't recognize Mormonism for the umbiblical, cult that it is.
      He obviously doesn't know enough about Mormonism to recognize small, subtle little sneaky things that will end up in the show. It's naive to think they would not influence the content of the show.
      It will start out with what seems like small, insignificant words or actions. That is what Mormon's do. They are taught to use words to deceive. My husband told me that growing up, Mormon's were appalled at being called "Christian". But when they realized that the name was appealing and made some people interested in them, they started telling everyone they are Christian's.
      And then there is the idea that they worship the same God of the Bible, and that the Bible is scripture to them. I could go on and on. But you seem to know these things.
      I guarantee they will slip a Mormon doctrine in there. One of the ways they earn heaven and godhood is by growing their church in numbers. Due to Dallas' ignorance they'll slip in as much as they dare.
      And here is another thing I've noticed, because of Dallas Jenkins involvement with Angel Studios, other Christian film makers have joined with Angel Studios. They are even proud of it. Tim Tebow has announced joining with them to make films. Another Christian man is advertising an animated movie they made about the life of King David. And who is their producer? Angel Studios.
      There is no way they won't take advantage of this to grow their church through this. The studio will make lots of money and use it to continue spreading their false Christianity.
      It isn't like they are just a kind of Christian denomination, they are not Christian at all. They may have some really good Christian values like family and pro-life, but the end game is hell. That has me very concerned because I love people, I don't want them deceived or deceiving. Real love means to tell them the truth.
      This is a slippery slope. I don't believe God wants us to use this as a means of leading people to Christ if it means others will be led to Mormonism, and that will happen. Satan is depending on it.
      Things you told me make me somewhat relieved, but I just can't feel good about it, God's Spirit is giving me no peace about the whole thing. I only see danger.

    I agree with Allie on this. There’s a lot I could comment on, but I want to address what she said in the beginning about people being labeled Pharisees. This is become a real problem in today’s church. It’s been a problem for decades actually. The terms legalist and Pharisee are thrown around so often that no one in the church can use any discernment today. It’s like that’s not allowed. No one’s allowed to have any conservative opinions on various different controversial issues. I think that many people who use those labels don’t understand what they really mean.
