he's not playing stupid, he knows how to push through the smoke. usually if you push through the smoke you have disadvantage, player on the other side sees you way before you can see them. but stewie pushes from side or jumps through (followed by a mid-air HS) to make it less advantageous for him. also he has element of surprise.
They just dont expect you to push so...

People talk about how stewie pioneered a style of play abusing smokes, but there's also the flip side. He forced teams to learn to be careful how they put down their smokes and how they treat them. A smoke covering most of an opening isnt going to cut it anymore. It has to be pinpoint perfect or else it will get abused
gokucrazy22 I agree with you in some ways but one thing I don’t agree is that the flip side you mentioned wasn’t really a thing back in cs 1.5 1.6 or even source , smoke was really something all players including pro players considered as a ‘wall’ so stewie is really the one who sets up this new mindset of all cs go players that smoke grenade has to be treated seriously. The way he plays with smoke is just like host mentioned reckless silver 1 style but it works and wins games . Now when players play high Elo ranked games they name smoke rush strat ‘stewie’ so teammates know what they’ll do with their flash and smoke to execute the strategy.so he really is someone who changed the cs go or I’d say CS in general

Quite embarassing if you ask me. Reminds me of COD "pro" matches where they yell at each other constantly like apes.
I was on his side wondering why people didn't like him until that. That kind of stunt is just disrespectful showboating. Immediately turns me off of liking a person. People like that wouldn't know competitive sportsmanship if it hit them int their face.
To some extent I miss that about esports. The fighting game community is more set up for trash talk since people play 1v1 instead of having a whole team that has to act a specific way. With team based games, sponsored teams with orgs attached seem to have stricter requirements or at least have gotten much more "professional" over the years. I don't mind that for the most part, but I do wish there were more players with some bite, some taunting, mind games to mess with opponents, or just the perfect type of charisma to talk mad shit with a smile, only for it to then be very satisfying watching them get dumpstered by your favorite player/team.

In the game u dont just go for kills. Instead you prioritize on winning and to win theres different strategies, pop flashes, smokes and also roles in the game. The kills are to stop such awpers wich are annoying at times when being good and rushers, supports, etc.

I’ve always loved smoke grenades in any shooter. There’s so much room for creativity with them
When someone throw a smoke, there are 2 OBVIOUS possibilities.
1- this person WILL push
2- this person DON'T WILL push
but, like i said, two OBVIOUS possibilities. The amount of strategy that this little eye blockers can offer and their impact is insane.
You can bait a rush (using the footstep sounds to a teammate get a freekill).
You can thow the smoke and spray if you have the intel.
You can even throw the smoke kinda high to it be like a "bird", so the enemy will look in a fraction of time and you can kill him.
I think it have even more things, that just happen cuz one thing. IT BLOCKS VISION.
It's really important to never ignore a smoke, cuz* someone can pop out of it sometimes, and it can win the entire round.
Stewie is the most entertaining player in CS, he’s got one of those unique play styles that you just can’t successfully imitate

I love going through smoke as well. But you dont even have to go through, sometimes you can just use an opponents smoke to your advantage when they leave a tiny gap to aim through.

@@jamrah8713 Can confirm, I played matchmaking back then. The only smoke regularly pushed was a B Tunns on D2.
That said, while I lacked the prowess, I also gave 0 shits if there was a smoke. If I wanted to be on the other side of it, I'd push it. I got so many cheap ass kills from pushing smokes I climbed to MGE purely off bullshit kills like that. It was spicy. It got even hotter when I'd do it with an awp cos that shit was just straight up disrespectful.

Some of these techniques were around in the 1.6 days. Smokes weren't as thick, so you couldn't just walk through them, but some of his flashing techniques were pulled right from the 1.6 scene. I love seeing it.
