    Stormy Weather vocals were sampled from the original recording by The Zircons in 1964, Mario Ibanez's led Bronx, NY group. I had inadvertently told Steven Paglierani that it was the Five Sharks version. The sampling was 'lifted" from Relic Records Best Of Acappella - Vol 1 LP. Fats Comet also sampled material from our Citadels and a Youngones' recording, "lifted" from Vol 2, for his "Bop Bop" recording. Misinformation spewed from Breackachy and eponymist is blatantly and totally wrong.

      Thanx for that info. I wondered for years where they pulled that from.

      Indeed; it was Steve Barker who supplied the tracks from his copies of the compilations.

    Indeed - saw some epic shows during my time in Boston - Front 242, Laibach, Wolfgang Press, Ministry...

    Tackhead and Mark Stewart at Axis - best show I saw there. Gary Clail and the Tackhead Sound System were at DV8 4-5 months later - kind of a letdown without Wimbush/MacDonald/Leblanc...

    I remember that now. Yeah re: Clail. Axis was perfect for Tackhead -- the entire stage was a subwoofer.

    Awesome. Hard to believe these are the same cats playing on the Sugarhill classics.

      Yes mad tune - I think Tackhead and Fats Comet were very odd. Saw Tackhead Sound System + E back in the day in MCR - amazing...

      Tracks like On The Radio by Crash Crew sound similar to me (and equally great), particularly the instrumentals.

    Tackhead came through twice, once with Mark Stewart guesting. Clail did a show a little later without Tackhead, as I recall. It's likely that Clail would have played at DV8.

    @beewus It's a straight cover version of the 1930s song 'Stormy Weather'. There are no vocal samples on it as far as I know - it's performed entirely by the band.

  • @Breakachy
    @Breakachy Před 11 lety +1

    Acknowledged I'm wrong about it being original, but I'll throw your bullshit right back at you. It's actually uses samples from a 1930s version by Bert Ambrose and His Orchestra with vocals by Sam Browne. The 5 Sharks version sounds totally different.

    I think the backing vocals might actually be from the Spaniels version, no?

    Bullshit. This is sampled from the Five Sharks version. And once again, "Fats" give no credit.
