    Sorry but I've gone through some of these comments saying it's too much and he has a disconnection from the audience and I don't get it. This project is called 'In my room' not 'In your head', let him do him and if you like it then fine, if not then fine; you can not takeaway from his talent and his amazing ear for music. I'm so happy an artist can be himself and be successful, I just wish people wouldn't try to dictate what people should and shouldn't do, it's creativity, let it be free.

      His vibration and resonance is so positive and brilliant small minds cannot take it in. His warmth exudes and reaches the heart, Soul and the mind, and the body. He PLAYS and has such profound discipline it is inspiring for anyone who cares to be expanded in consciousness. He goes beyond the limits of the 12 tone scale in harmonics and that alone disturbs some, expands, educates, dazzles and adrenalizes others. Long live his magnificent talent. May he thrive in all dimensions of his life and time on earth. I am 74 years young/old, a singer, songwriter, jazz freak and lifetime musician and think he is the greatest thing since sliced bread!

    • @richardrejmer8721
      @richardrejmer8721 Před 3 měsíci +3

      Obviously those people that think he has a disconnection to his uadience have never seen the clips where he has a 1,000 plus audience all singing in 6-part harmony . .
      And - by the way. . . How 'connected' is a symphony orchestra to the audience?
      How 'connected' was Coltraine to his audience when he was playing his heart out?
      A *GOOD* musician is NOT OBLIGED to 'connect' with an audience. . His job is to be connected to the MUSIC. .
      It's the job of the audience to LISTEN to the music and (hopefully) become 'connected' to the music. .
      DON'T TELL ME that this audience is NOT connecting to the music!!!!!!!

      Nice to see another looper acknowledge this. The minority of detractors make the assumption that making / playing loops is easy. It isn't, not least because any mistake is magnified and repeated, putting most people more on edge. He seems to thrive on the risks he's taking.

    I've read some people say that Jacob in this show is somehow "disconnected" from the audience because he runs around and changes so many instruments. I have not seen it live (i wish i did so much) but i think that this is just perfect. Limiting himself to piano and voice could be OK, but this format shows so much of his talent, not just as a composer but as a performer too. And the world NEEDS to see his talent!!
    Do people even have an idea how much focus goes into delivering a performance like this?
    This is seriously the most incredible shit i have seen in years, maybe ever.
    Give this guy ALL THE SUPPORT you can, please!

    • @sidenotes
      @sidenotes Před 8 lety +10

      I understand what you mean, but i still disagree.
      Obviously his incredible "circus" talent of being able to play tons of different instruments is something totally separate from his musical creativity. It could also "damage" the music a little bit, as you say.
      But my point is that this acrobatic stuff could help him get more popularity. It is just a MEAN to channel his music to the largest audience possible. After all, this is partly what concerts are about.
      If he had a band of great musicians, it would probably look more "normal" at first sight. Even though the music would still be incredible, it would stand out less to the "casual" listener.
      So if this "circus" type of show is something that helps him get to the big scene, i'm totally supporting it.
      He's still extremely young he has loads of time to put together a band and do all kinds of musical journeys with whatever ensembles of musicians.
      Anyway, whatever happens, this will still be remembered as one of the best displays of musical technique and versatility, at least that i am aware of :) . I hope you agree on that, at least :)

      @UkuleleAversion Před 7 lety +17

    Is turning down below
    Through the day and
    Through the coldest night
    Light my way
    Give me strength to burn bright
    [Pre-Chorus 3]
    Now take me up to the sky, off my mind
    Far away from the heavens below me
    Make the storm in my soul
    Give me strength in my bones
    Now you're comin' to save me

    Just saw him perform this at the London O2 Brooklyn bowl. Incredible. He is a genius, and by genius I mean a) He has put in the 10,000 hours practice that you need apparently or b) he was just born a genius. I disagree that he needs a band, the whole point is that he has taken a musical performance to a height never reached before, demonstrating not only his fantastic playing on all instruments, but the technical prowess of the MIT equipment he uses as well.

    I've been completely caught up with Jacob. He is a genius, a pure talent. And, I'm looking forward to his next steps - working with others, being a little more relaxed with his music over running all this technology. It is perfect as it is but if he is going to evolve the way I predict he will, we are looking at someone who is going to be very influential.
