We are the Bags Packed Family: Jonathan and Kelly with our three children. We sold our home in Alaska, USA, nine years ago, and headed overseas. We are teachers and found fantastic teaching positions in Chennai, India. Two years later, we moved to the United Arab Emirates. Three years after that, during the beginning of the pandemic, we made the move to our current teaching jobs in Indonesia. We love traveling and finding adventures as a family. Since I started watching this channel, I noticed Granite has always been excellent in describing the food/experiences in great details especially for his age. As a former person that travel a lot for work, carrying 12 heavy baggages and sometimes before starbucks open at the airport, I know you have it hard with kids. I'm lucky, I can sleep anywhere in all conditions.😂

You can get business class flights from SE Asia to Europe or the US for $1000 each way, which is worth it in my opinion. You really just need it for that first 10-12 hour long haul flight. Anything under 8 hours, you can just fly economy.

I flew business class for the first time on United Polaris December 2023 and I also thought the best thing was that I was actually able to sleep. Plus, I was able to get a freshly brewed cup of coffee on request, rather than having to wait for when drinks are being served as in economy. ❤🎉

Those pods are indeed super private but usually all occupied! Theres a version of them in the 51st and green lounge at DUB also and a version in the Finnair Plat wing lounge at Hel that looks like the lounge seat in the AY j cabin

I get what you mean, about it being a shame that you’re going to sleep through it instead but I think being able to sleep comfortably on a plane is the perk itself. It looks like it was enjoyed by all immensely but still great to hear your honest thoughts at the end.
Qatar airways started the route to Miami sometime in Sept of 2014 if I'm not mistaken. I traveled on it in December of 2014 business class as well. Comfortable airplane

I usually sleepwalk when I sleep somewhere for the first time. And, when asked about it the next day, I would have no memory of it. It's never violent, but kind of freaky. My wife confirmed this multiple times.

I am still amazed by how willing your kids are to eat pretty much anything.
Too have to expose kids to different foods. Not just give up and feed them chicken nuggets and fries. It takes like 30 tries for a child to learn to like a food

We got pretty lucky on the weather. It was hot, but not unbearable.

Kids fares are relatively cheaper between 70-80% of adult fares. I reckon most of using credit card points to deduct and balance by cash/ cc. They offer pj on flight too since this is a red eye flight. I flew them on biz trip from Singapore to Madrid. For the complimentary Diptyque amenity, I think the spray is a face mist. You can always ask the FA to make the bed for you when you are going to sleep :)

Personally, I think it's worth flying in business class for flights above 8 hours. We travel business class cause my husband is too tall and big (not fat...lol) for economy class seats. For me, business class makes flying a lot more enjoyable and relaxing, and I don't feel the jet lag as much cause I sleep pretty well on board.
Definitely helped the jet lag to get a comfortable night sleep.
Love watching u and ur family in business class back to Miami, FL. Yeah it’s a lot of money just to fly business class to Asia but I did it many time bc I need the bed to lay down and the services and foods r so much better. I too laid $30G for three of us to VN in March for my husband and my daughter and I. Will I do it again? Idk but def will look for sales but it’s hard going back to economy after many flights on business class. Why didn’t u video tape ur trip leaving VN bc I would love to watch that too.

While $30k is as you say , the price of a car , what was the economy cost ? For a family :-)
Maybe one day I will indulge myself a little , how to justify paying way more .
SG offered an upgrade , just for 1/4 the trip , 2x the total price . Basically paying twice for the Jhb /Sg leg , than I would for Sg /Taiwan and return :as well :-)
