- That's right, our very first Cadillac!!! We purchased a wrecked 2020 Cadillac CT5-V to see what these suckers are all about. This car is not like the regular V Cadillacs, so were pretty excited to see what this thing has. Of course this one will need a good bit of work before were able to test it, but when thats all said and done, it'll be put to the absolute test! Thanks For Watching!!!

Plug his scanner into the car check the Error codes look for the ones for the transmission usually Cadillacs when they are in an accident have a safety feature where they will disable the transmission so if you check with the scanner the scanner should tell you if it’s disabled
Are you talking about crash immobilizers?
Where the fuse blows and disables the car from being able to be driven

Nah.... after battery removal it will reset. (the accident would have caused and intermittent code at best.) Not to mention that "disabled" means "limp-mode" it can still move, just not shift. But please! Look at the damage to the front-end.... that cooler has got to be damaged.... and he mentioned the fluid on the ground! Copart listed is as a start and drive. That means they tried to move it under its own power and pumped the fluid out.
@@marcelneau4159 yep, a busted transmission cooler will pump all of the transmission fluid onto the ground very quickly.
The camera in the shark fin is for the rear-view mirror. The camera on the back is the backup camera. 👍
This is an awesome build! love the ct5v. The camera on the "shark fin" is for the rear view mirror.
Pumped for this one! Check that roof because when they get hit that hard in the front usually the roof buckles! Look forward to seeing the paint work on this one.

Man this guy is such a good car salesman. He had me convinced with that all season no slippage talk and all the details. Now i want one.
My mom had a 2001 Escape that she had an accident in. One of the transmission lines was damaged in the accident and the transmission ran low on fluid which later led to issues with the transmission years later once the car got some miles on it. I would suggest not running the engine or trying to drive the car until you can get the transmission to hold fluid. Also probably would not be a bad idea if you can to take the transmission out and have a shop look at it to make sure that the internals are not damaged.
You take any transmission out and take it to any shop, expect to get ripped off. It's probably something simple since this car only has 11000 miles on it.
I'm quite certain that the transmission cooler lines were damaged in the front resulting in all the fluid being pumped out. Taking the transmission out and having it rebuilt with nothing wrong would be a waste of money. I can't find a shop that wouldn't suggest that something would be needed. The labor they would charge to diagnose it would be high too.

Escapes are notorious for transmissions
@@stevekenworthy8092 Yeah maybe the old Escapes. My parents have a 2010 Escape since new, had 1 issue ever. Throttle body sensor or something small.

I've always really liked the CVS V wagons. I've looked several times for a decent one with a manual and just never pulled the trigger. I'd been much better off if I'd done it years ago when they first caught my eye because they are rare and pricey now for a decent one.

This makes me miss my Cadillac! I used to have a Cadillac CTS but I was driving with my kids in the back seat one day and, while stopped at a red light, We were rear-ended by a Nissan Titan with a bull bar on the front! He was doing 45MPH and didn't see the red light (or Us apparently) I quickly learned that Cadillac built that car to fold under in a rear impact... There was zero intrusion into the passenger compartment! That feature saved my kids lives! Unfortunately, The Cadillac was totaled and the highschool kid that was driving the Nissan only had the minimum required insurance coverage from Progressive. The settlement wasn't enough to replace my Cadillac so I had to buy a Nissan Altima instead😢. Not an even trade... The Altima only lasted 2 years before I traded it off for something with more kid-room in the back (GMC Envoy Denali). My Denali is having some electrical problems now and I'm currently without a reliable vehicle. All because some highschool kid wasn't paying attention while driving😭.
This is why you have uninsured/underinsured insurance coverage on YOUR policy. There is a large number of drivers out there with no insurance at all or the minimum required. If you didn't or don't have uninsured underinsured coverage then you should fire your agent and find one that is a professional.
Damn that sucks but sounds like you lacked coverage also, as said your uninsured/ under insured would cover that difference.
those CTS non -V are even worse than the envoys reliability wise....i see tons under 120k miles in the junkayrds around here

@@BrianSmith-lo3mj Gap insurance is really more to cover what you owe on a vehicle versus what it is worth. A brand new vehicle that is totaled may be worth less with depreciation than what you still owe if you 100% financed.

The local Cadillac dealer has the V8 version of this car in black! It's pretty cool! Even though it's a 2019 with 10K miles they want $82K for it! Nice car but a lot of dough for a 2019!
It's just that they have shifted the regular Vs to Blackwing and added the V-spec to be in the middle level, not a shame, a good move I would say.
The Caddy’s with that LS Vette engines were powerful beasts. After the Great Recession of 2008, GM quality began to drop.

CT5 V-spec isn’t the same as a CTS-V, the new blackwing is the ct5 equal to that model. This is a midrange version, think M340i vs M3

Just noticed and it’s a small detail but you guys should totally put the Hellcat badges back on the Challenger. That minor touch goes a long way for Hellcat fans. Looking forward to the Cadillac build.
I love the CT5-V model, our neighbor has one and the sound of cold starts in the morning means I need to get to work as well, so it is every morning a smile while I fire up my put-put
Have you ever heard the CT5-V Blackwing with the V8? It sounds absolutely amazing! The twin turbo V6 does sound really good as well though.
I know you guys stay stretched pretty thin, but would love to see more on Unleashed sometime soon. Love what you do and this new build!

Good catch by pops, I would definitely check the roof/sunroof area. Most rebuilt cars with sunroofs will leak every time it rains, sadly speaking from experience
Congrats on the beautiful Caddy. Hopefully the transmission isn't cooked but not too tough to rebuild. Sure looks sweet and even though no V8, I'm sure it goes fast too. I didn't know they made an AWD version.
Naw I don't think the transmission is bad. I think the boys are right on this one. The trans cooler is right there in the front kinda towards the bottom of the front bumper and very most likely got bent/cracked/broken and or likely snapped a line or maybe even both lines off of it. Since Copart had it listed as run and drive it had to have moved when they went through the testing of it. Run and drive can be a little misleading on Copart. So like, when they go through it, if it starts and wont move it would be listed as Starts. If it doesn't start, it would listed as an Enhanced vehicle. Which basically means it doesn't run or drive and that they just "cleaned" the vehicle to maximize the value of it. If the vehicle is listed as Run and Drive it means that it does in fact run and drive. But that doesn't actually mean it runs and drives right. that doesn't mean it shifts or has reverse or properly drive. all it basically means is that it starts up and moves. Figured I'd share that information to you and everyone else here just in case you or anyone else gets into the Copart buying and reselling experience. I'm no pro, but i have bought 3 cars from Copart and have at least dealt with some of the experience.

The other camera in the antenna was for the rear view mirror. You push a button and it goes to that instead of a traditional mirror. Keep up the good work!!!

wow awesome car man! i have good memories from our 2002 cadillac sts that i once bought for my dad years ago he was in love with that car and used to drive around lisning to elvis all day hahahaha in the end i sold the car but i regret it till this day. my father passed away from cancer oktober 28 2020 and this build is close to my heart... cadillac stole my heart and my fathers as well. glad you guys gonna rebuild that beautifull car ! thanks for this awesome build this is something i have been looking forward to a "cadillac build" greetings from holland (the netherlands)

I'm really stoked about this one boys! I know its not the Blackwing but thats okay yall will have plenty of fun in this. The best part about these cars is the fact that you can use them to haul the kids around, grab groceries, pick up pops, and then head to the track. I have always wanted a CTS-V i personally would've wanted one of the older ones with the 6 speed manual Trans but those are getting pretty old at this point and you would be missing out on alot of the newer and really nice options. Awesome project car boys i cant wait to see how yall get this one up. Lets face it, you cant go wrong with a Caddy!!!! oh and one other id like to add its very very awesome that the dash bag didnt pop!!! that made it much easier for yall. wide body this mofo!!! i havent seen it done with one of these and honestly i think it would look absolutely SICK!!!

Guys! I'm a big fan and I'm always amazed by your constructive capacity. But I still don't understand how you don't have a warehouse for unfinished projects, a warehouse for spare parts, tools, etc. And finally the garage with space to work. Instead you have a garage that is a warehouse, and you repair cars outdoors in your backyard. It's very chaotic because there are cars everywhere, parts and mud. I understand that you are building a new garage, but why don't you improve what you have and organize yourselves a little better? A big hug from Switzerland! ;-)

The camera in the fin is a rear view mirror camera I believe. Your rear view mirror in the center of the front windshield has a touch screen build in monitor/tv in it. It also functions as a normal mirror but you can turn that backup view on to get a better view behind you while your driving, Super HD quality too!
50K$ car brand new for 17,2K$ + fees seems a pretty good deal, I can't imagine how much a body shop will charge for the repair

It’s not a bad transmission, I’ve had the same thing happen with me. When ever you wreck a car from the front there is a transmission pump in the front that contains the transmission fluid and when it’s hit and loses all the fluid, the car won’t drive when you put it into D. In this case when you fix the car you guys need to add transmission fluid to the transmission.
It's a transmission cooler, not a pump. The cooler got busted and now the tranny won't work because it's low on fluid. It happens 95% when a vehicle with an auto trans gets hit in the front.

the camera in the shark fin antenna is for the digital rear view mirror, the drivers side floor is bent like that to make space for the center diff for the all wheel drive
