In fact, Barbara Bush claimed that Trump’s election caused her to have a “heart attack”, so I seriously doubt that she ever voted for him. Barbara said that she “wrote in” Jeb’s name for the main election because she could not vote for either Trump or Hillary.
She protested by writing Jeb's name instead of Trump's on the ballot and then blamed Trump's win for her heart attack, as if being a bazillion years old had nothing to do with it.

It’s because he’s not running for President anymore and can be far more candid. Even Hillary’s interviews post 2016 make her seem far more likable and human. It just shows how restrained and calculated politicians are forced to be on the campaign trail, which almost always results in seeming odd and untrustworthy.
