  • Tired of growing okra that gets tough after it gets just a few inches long? We'll show you a dwarf okra variety that stays tender even at 10-11" long. This provides for a longer harvest window and allows you to get more okra per harvest because the pods are larger.
    We'll also be harvesting a couple heirloom tomatoes for some delicious okra and tomatoes over rice. Lastly, we'll venture over to our giant pumpkin patch and check on our giant butternut squash and Atlantic giant pumpkins.

      I'd strongly suggest hitting up your local Latino supermarket for some nice white corn 'harina de maiz'. It's the best thing for breading and frying okra. Add a little flour, some buttermilk and an egg, season it how you want...I just dip them whole when they're young and fry them up.

    • @tarabooartarmy3654
      @tarabooartarmy3654 Před 11 měsíci

      @@MrBendylaw we use regular cornmeal and don’t use anything else. If you shake okra and cornmeal in a bag and leave it for a few minutes, the mucilaginous quality that makes okra slimy binds the cornmeal to the okra with no need for other ingredients. But I cook mine sliced rather than whole because that’s how my family prefers it because it gets really crispy that way and removes the sliminess. 😊
