Laurin has some good tips, but I've been painting in watercolor full time for almost 50 years and he's too OCD for me! I'd never get around to actually painting if I had to do this much preparation each time. Wow...

Oh ... but his results are first class! I think he surpasses Willem Kalf, ... but each to his own.
