It’s great to know that the next time I drive the NJ Turnpike the ride will be free since the road was paid off in 1975.
It's a shame what corrupt politicians and super high tolls have done to a once great road.
And now it's tolled beyond belief.
They just raised tolls a whopping 40% when people are out of work and few could attend public hearings. Very political and our great governor thought the toll increase was fantastic!
Exit 14A Good old Bayonne....my hometown.
I do prefer this older introduction plate to the newer intros. Thanks for using it on this but why the alternative intro?
Let's hope not.....
The Turnpike is being sued by the Trucking Association to return millions of dollars in excess toll fees used for expenses not related to the roadway itself.... the Turnpike is now a 1 show cash cow money grab with little oversight.
Used to be a glorious ride
Jersey? What exit?
1975, eh?
Would be great to have the date of the film as it is a historic piece.
@@MrOtis909 Thanks, but that doesn't help me at all. I could not know less about cars. I could eventually try to guess a decade but nothing more.
About 1952-1953 after the Turnpike was completed to the northern end at Ridgefield Park.
The two lane toll booth is Carteret, exit 12, and the elevated structure and piece of highway next to the railroad is near Secaucus, at the northern end. Most of the Turnpike was 2 lanes each way, but a good part of it is now 6 lanes each way, with 2 separate 3 lane roadways in each direction.
Wikepedia said it was built in 1951
Well that fixed traffic for 30 seconds.
One day the super highway will come to you.
The tollway is being sued to returning millions of dollars in excess fees.
The state thinks it's an ATM for whatever they need money for.
The trucking Association is going after them.
Heads Tails, so one day the super highway will come to you snarling with hunger and eat your house and your land.
Exit 15W
22 MONTHS!!!!
exit 13
Completed in 22 months? Outstanding, especially by today's standards. Must have been less bureaucracy.
I was shocked by that. It takes longer for them to add 5 miles of new lane these days.
