Stede is actually quite the competent pirate captain, or knows how to appear so. He’s really badass. He just doesn’t do violence well. I look forward to season 2 when he continues to play the vulnerable posh boy until the attacking party realise too late and he brings out a unique crazy dark side that works for his rep and character.

Up to that point Stede put up with CJ’s crap for Ed’s sake while CJ walked all over him, but as soon as he killed Karl, Stede was so done and he was there to defend his crew against this jackass with firm confidence. No hesitation, just GTFO. I was so proud of him. 🥹 Also, Stede’s hottest when he competently takes charge of things. ❤️

This was eventually his downfall as the governor of Virginia tricked him into bording a sloop without canons but many hidden men under deck who ambushed him and cut off his head😢
