As an owner of two Hot Wheels 1989 Batmobile's ((2003 and 2012 editions), I have to say that this is better in several areas: you can open up the trunk, it has more notable suspension, it has light up effects, the tip of the engine is painted black, the side exhausts are silver, the dashboard is molded and painted instead having stickers. I could be wrong, but it looks like it could also be slightly larger. I think you're spot on about it being based on Jada's work, it's almost as if they developed this model though couldn't acquire the 1/18 license and so released it through a proxy or someone pinched their blueprints. It has the same features which Jada tends to provide with their 1/18 offerings - being able to open up the boot, lights and sounds, similar riveted patterns underneath.. The only thing that's different is Jada 1/18 vehicles don't have a steering feature. The Hot Wheels version might have a slight edge when it comes to the accuracy of the body, paint apps. You can also to pull the engine out, and the windshield is tinted on the 2003 version. If I was in your shoes, I wouldn't bother buying the Hot Wheels as you got a great deal with this. Here in Europe, this BM Batmobile costs over £120.

Too right!! It has a fine blend of having a gothic, steampunk look, while appearing menacing. It also has some great curves. And unlike many of the other Batmobiles it looks very sturdy and secure - the other Batmobiles often leave the driver, engine and wheels really badly exposed.

I just got mine. Great value for the price at $45! The original Mattel version is still going for hundreds more sometimes.

Hot Wheels, man. HOT WHEELS. You keep saying Matchbox, lol.

Unfortunately it is not 18/01. the real Batmobile measures almost 7 meters long. In 1/18 scale it should measure approximately 36 centimeters in length. Unfortunately, there is no 1/18 scale Batmobile. The 1/18 Batman figure is 10.5 centimeters, he does not fit in this Batmobile. This one appears to have used the same format as the Hot Wheels.

Matchbox didn't make a 1:18 scale '89 Batmobile. It was Hot Wheels.

Is the body die-cast? I just bought a Jada 1:24, I like it, I wish they had more details on the interior by sacrificing the die-cast Batman, it's cool but the Hot Toys has a better interior though that's way more expensive.
    God bless.

I've just measured my Hot Wheels, it's 28.5 cm by 11 cm by 6 cm, so according to the advertised dimensions this is 2 cm longer, 1.5 cm wider and approx the same height. If possible, can you confirm this is 30.5 L, 12.5 W and 6 H?

Pretty far from 1/18 scale, more like 1/24 or 1/32

It's a foot long, not far at all. It's about 1/20 scale which is closer to 1/18 than 1/24 and nowhere near 1/32.
