Yup for being straight out of Tokyo Japan you would never know it hearing this latest song by them which One Ok Rock co-wrote this song with Ed Sheeran. Some other songs mix Japanese and English together but still sound so good. I am here in The States and first heard them like 3 years ago and was pretty blown away by the lead singer Taka voice. He really has an amazing talent! The band does rock to pop but good music is good music no matter the genre.

I'm glad you liked the song and the video! I love seeing people's reaction when they hear the chorus for the first time haha. As mentioned in another comment, this song was written with Ed Sheeran, so you may have noticed some of his influence in the music and the lyrics. There are some Making of Renegades videos on the band's official CZcams channel where you can see them writing and producing the song and music video. FYI, you listened to the international/English version of the song. The Japanese version is available on the band's channel and it has a couple lines in Japanese. The band's recent songs are mainly in English. Their older songs have more Japanese or a Japanese/English mix, and I think those songs are more along the lines of what you were expecting to hear.
ONE OK ROCK has great live performances so I highly recommend you check out one of their live videos next. My personal recommendations would be "The Beginning" at Eye of the Storm Japan Tour and "Mighty Long Fall" at Saitama Super Arena. Both videos are available on the band's channel. If you would like more inspiration and uplifting lyrics like "Renegades," I think you would enjoy "We are" at Ambitions Japan Dome Tour and the orchestra version of "Stand Out Fit In". From heavier stuff you should definitely check out live performances of Nobody´s home, Mighty Long Fall, Ending Story?, The Beginning, Deeper Deeper, One by One, Clock Strikes, 20/20 and from slower, more emotional stuff the live versions of Pierce (orchestra ver.), Et Cetera (orchestra ver.), Fight the Night, Good Goodbye and studio jam session version of Heartache ♥ :D and then there are incredible cover versions of Nirvana´s Smells Like Teen Spirit or Adele´s Hello, Simple Plan´s Summer Paradise version featuring Taka (singer) and amazing studio jam session versions of many of their songs (Mighty Long Fall and The Beginning including), soooo... I´m looking forward to your next reactions :D

I’ve been following one ok rock for years! I’ve been to two of their concerts! Very talented group. I would recommend cry out! Japan your dome . It’s on the one ok rock official CZcams channel! This lead singer taka I believe is 34 of 35 lol his birthday was April something!

Try listen to Clock strikes and LIAR. One of the best songs I ever heard from them.
Definitely see their live performances. I just saw them in the states. Smaller crowd but the impact and energy is still the same. Such an amazing band worth falling. Their message is so strong and impowering.
