Why I Wear The Same Thing Every Day (Minimalist Wardrobe)

- It seems as though I get asked this question on a daily basis. Today, I will answer as to why I choose to wear virtually the same thing every day.
There are roughly five reasons as to why I choose to have a minimalist wardrobe.

I have the same thing, some statement pieces (also timeless, like a nice coat or bag of good quality). Itâs easy. I know itâll fit me. I know Iâm comfortable in it.
Not for me...I look really sick in black.....my wardrobe has colours which mix and match and suit me really well, so I do not have to go with seasonal fashion....nice vid
I live in tropical country & itâs hot af right here so we go white for summer & brown/olive green for spring.
Nate ingeniously wormed his way into the algorithms for all of my search terms. I was looking for outfits for the tragically hip, and who popped up but Nate?
I said "popped".
I used to wear a bunch of colors and crazy styles, trying to keep up with others and trends, but recently I switched to wearing very basic outfits, and I actually feel much happier! Instead of worrying about keeping up, I cam comfortably look like myself every day. Great video, Nate.
Same here. I'm glad to hear I wasn't the only person feeling that way. I used to think I have to wear eclectic/eccentric style to "express" myself or decorate my place that way, so that others would see me as a "cool" person. I started feeling lost in colours. I realized I shouldn't let what I wear to define who I am, or waste time worrying about how I look when life is offering much more than that.
I recently decluttered my clothes to realise I switch between the same 10 items. Its opened my eyes a lot

I started wearing the same color wardrobe after I got heavily tattood. Most of the shirts I had clashed with the art, so I started wearing gray. I work from home so I don't need to dress up so I got rid of everything that didn't suit. Then the minimalism trend started and I realized I was ahead of the curve for once in my life.
But you're right; it does save time. Laundry is a no-brainer. Most of what I have comes from online second-hand stores, so I save money on clothes. It's been a lifestyle change that's made my life easier.
After watching this video I feel like throwing half my closet in a garbage bag. Canât wait to decluttering a bit. Thanks for sharing your personal reasons with usđ€
Maybe recycle instead? Just a little thought... đđ
How about donate ever think of that
As a young adult woman(21years old) in this society I usually do the 3 color rule in my wardrobe. I only buy simple and quality pieces in gray, black and white. It really helps minimise yet mix and match all of what I have. Plus it doesn't come off repetitive, or at least I think no one to little people notice đ. It's not their business anyway
I always dress in black. Clean, classy and serious. The same brand . Quality no quantity.
Which brand?
Unfortunatly, I feel like women get judged a lot more if they wear the same thing everyday. :(
I have started moving more and more to a uniform. This year, well as from later this week will, will be my first time frame that I will start with a uniform Monday to Friday, white shirt black pants. Think I will play a bit with earrings and maybe shoes, though I mostly wear one pair of shoes anyway. Will keep weekends for changing it up a bit.
Oh and I started also using only one colour Cutex, a very light pink. I will see how it goes, maybe I will change it once the bottle is finished. Also playing with the idea of imitating the Queen and maybe just opting for Essie's ballet slippers to become my signature nail colour
You can move to a capsule wardrobe
Tbh no one notices! Unless someone is highly invested in your life, they wonât notice at all. I knew someone who wore the same 2 outfits for like 2-3 months and when she told me she did that I was like âreally??â I didnât even notice! Itâs crazy.
Look up project 333!
Totally agree!!
Best quality, stylish, unbranded clothing has to be Uniqlo. Slightly more expensive than H&M but the quality is superior. Also, no garish logos.
I totally agree on the quality of UNIQLO clothing,

I agree on this.
Wearing scrubs at work taught me a "uniform" outside of work makes taking care of my wardrobe simple...and as you say, saves $$
hmm interesting
This happened to me as well. Working at a car wash.
Needed this! I have huge anxiety when it comes to getting new clothes. I hate spending money, hate shopping and am super indecisive on what I want. Iâm a minimalist and want simplicity. Thank you! Love your videos!
I've always hated shopping
I have a hand full of things that I wear interchangeably, remember the wardrobe or materialistic things do not make you the person you are.
Saves so much space too
I am the same way. Idk if it's laziness or the fact that less choices in my life actually makes me happier. :)
Little bit of both

Others when they wear black: chic and badass

@@TheEntrepreneurChannel Glad you picked up on that!
For anyone wanting a step up from wearing the same thing every day, besides a few changes, try a capsule wardrobe instead. In a good capsule wardrobe, everything will match (and that doesnât mean only wearing neutral colours like black, white or grey).
My recommendation is that if you donât know how to match colours together, try looking at seasonal colour palettes. In a seasonal colour palette, all autumn colours will go together, all summer colours will go together, and so forth. I also recommend doing a basic seasonal colour analysis and figuring out the most flattering colours for your complexion. It's worth spending time figuring it out because then you'll have colours that you never thought of wearing. If that's too difficult, just match warm colours with warm and cool with cool. Nothing will clash but you may look sick if you wear the opposite season's colours.
Also, if you are purchasing clothing every year because they donât last longer than a season, then youâre purchasing bad quality clothing. Clothes should last 5 years minimum. Not fall apart after a season of regular use. Learn the proper way to take care of clothing, what fabrics are more stable than others and avoid shopping too often at fast fashion stores. Buying ten $5 t-shirts over 5 years is the worse that getting one $30 t-shirt thatâll last 5 years.
When you buy poor quality clothing they look mukey
Doing this keeps clothing out of landfills đ±
Makes getting out of the house and off to work easier each day
Very true!
I'm so minimalist I just walk around in the nude
Not sure about that one
đ
haha I mean I guess it's good for your body; it could probably improve your blood flow XD
Thatâs how I got kicked out of a few places đ
RealLife Money - Weekly Financial Videos well that just stops you from spending money at those places. I see this as an absolute win.
During my usual workweek, I wear 5 assorted T-shirts; the same pair of jeans for the week (they don't really get dirty doing my work); and I alternate between 2 pairs of shoes. Fresh undies & socks daily, of course. The only choice I spend time on is which T-shirt to wear this day.
Thank you.
My coworker asked why I always wear black. Because that's my choice. It's just easier to limit my wardrobe style and I now don't think about what I wear anymore.
Bro this video is so great. I've watched so many videos on minimalist fashion but this video really helped me the most! Your tips on wearing black (no stains, wash together) are SO helpful! I'm going to try to cut down on my wardrobe and try to piece together an outfit I can wear to university everyday!
I love watching your videos because we're almost polar opposites. I'm not a hoarder but I love having things, and a I have a passion for fashion. It's lovely to see someone on the other side of the spectrum
Iâve been thinking about experimenting with a âuniformâ at work. I work an office job that wouldnât allow me to wear jeans and a t-shirt, which I feel is often the go-to minimalist wardrobe. But I bet I could do the same color pants, a white shirt, and toss a different jacket on each day that would match and no one would think it odd.
Literally in the middle of a MASSIV closet clean out. Iâm here for this!
I was a fashion business major and i absolutely thrive on getting dressed up every day and changing up my look but this was an interesting watch, i respect your minimalistic ways haha
*I have a lot of blue shirts, but different styles and brands. So yes, time is important. The hardest part is picking out what blue shirt I'm going to wear.* đ€Ł

I adapted wearing black about two months ago, I agree it's so easy and simple when shopping or doing laundry. I also just finished doing the 30 day minimalist declutter challenge yesterday, it was incredible! I realized how much I've spent and can save now, and living a simple life can make me so happy :-)
I love wearing all black everyday! Can be dressed up or down. Definitely saves time having to think of what to wear each day..
I do something similar. I have an outfit for each day of the week. Makes it easy in the morning to get dressed. No guessing involved. Thanks for posting.
I'm on a similar path. Nice to see a guy sharing his minimalist wardrobe! Seen a lot of ladies each with their own take. Simplicity is a life changer.

OMG people in the USA spend around 160 dollars a month on clothing?? I spend that amount a year on clothing and I am doing fine....Very refreshing to see a young man like yourself being sane and spreading the sanity! Good luck! Love from Germany.
I love how there are so many ways people discover minimalism!
Target is a good place for both guys and girls to get quality cheap clothing. GAP is good for Jeans. Neutral colors so everything always matches. Only time I get fancy is when I wear a suit but even then my most expensive suit is $150.
This is me already; I usually wear simple black shirts from the corner store with blue jeans. Keep It Super Simple, KISS.
Great video Nate! Thanks for the breakdown and good points. I love adding up the time you save each day and looking at it on a monthly or yearly basis.

Hey thanks Steven!
I have actually worn the same clothes for over 9 years. Same shirts same colors, just have a bunch of the same thing. I love it. Great video and keep Saving Money.
You do wear something different everyday. It just happens to be black. I wear different cloths all the time. It just all happens to be kind of gray.
Nick Martinez Lol exactly, the secret exposed đ
"didn't work out for her too well" haha, well said.
Hi Nate, Iâm from Mexico and I really like your mindset, also I can improve my English watching your videos, te mando mucho amor
Iâve recently added a new constraint of only purchasing solid color tops that are black, navy, or grey. I enjoy a little variety, but love the more simplistic approach to my capsule wardrobe.
I'd say simplifying your wardrobe also reduces one's carbon footprint.
as a girl and a shopaholic I will not be doing this lmao but i def agree with cleaning out your closet and finding pieces that are most functional and that you can actually wear on a regular basis.
Yes, I have been at this since 16 and couldn't agree more.
I began shifting this way about a year and a half ago and frankly it is probably one of the best options of course I did add in a little mix of some other colors to my wardrobe but I also still have some business attire for when I do have to actually wear a suit or actually dress up as a professional but for my day-to-day business casual or casual pretty much just went down to some basics pretty much what you talk about in this video and you know there's a lot of benefits of going that way.
I just have 2 looks; my uniform or my pyjamas :D
Same number of options as me but mine are either: dressed or not.
Be a superhero and you can only wear one... pyjama as your uniform
I'm happy I'm not the only one who does this haha great minds think alike :)

Great video Nate, keepâm coming. đđ
Great video! I think jeans and a t-shirt are timeless. You can go dress casual or total sweaty blue collar and still look good. For me, I absolutely love wearing the Gildan Softstyle tee with whatever blue jeans I want. No logo and looks good with any blue jeans I feel like wearing.
I've started to get my wardrobe more minimal too, because I changed as a person. It really is way more easier to know that basically everything in your wardrobe goes with each other. The only things that I own that don't work with everything that well together are some unique pieces that I simply love and the clothes that I wear at home. There I just take the first thing on the top and that's it because I want to be comfy when I'm home and do some work or study :D
When it comes to choosing the things I want to wear for the next day, I simply do that mentally while I can't do any other thing. For example while I'm cooking or on the subway. That's a way how I use the "lost" time there too.
