- The video was extremely important for me to make to spell out the true focus of the song because of the lyric’s subtlety. I wanted to do my part to help represent the diversity and beauty of the transmasculine community that is so often erased, exploited, or hardly peppered into the media. Representation matters, especially to young people. If you can’t see it, you can’t be it. We made this video on a dream with our friends and people we admired because we collectively agreed our community needed to see trans joy. I am so grateful to my long-time collaborator Maddy Talias who shot on film, and our director Tee Vaden who set an incredibly safe space for everyone to allow their true sense of self to cut through the lens, and to the cast who displayed authentic joy and camaraderie.
We are queer 365 days of the year, and while we stan every inch of umbrella representation, this is a much-deserved moment just for the boys.

Y'know that feeling when you didn't realize how much you needed to hear something after standing alone and fighting for so fucking long? And the tears just start coming and something in you is viscerally transformed? This song created that space, and it told my inner trans child that I was gonna be okay. The trans adult I am today still needed this now, and I'm so glad children who are like me will have this. Thank you, to everyone whose visibility and dedication built the uplifting connection that this art hit me with today. This is another reminder that I was safe to believe it was gonna be okay. Growing up extremely religious and in a box, as well as a world where I questioned EVERYTHING about myself from a very young age, I recently discovered your music a year ago, and it has CHANGED my life completely. Not only as a musician, but also as a human being. I finally am coming out as non binary myself. I am learning to really love myself, and find my tribe. THANK YOU, for your music and your dedication to helping the LGBTQ community. This song has hit home for me in so many ways. I came out last month as a non-binary person. I like to be a little masculine and to be gendered as a male (even if I prefer going by neutral pronouns (they/them)). I came out to my mom yesterday and it was hard. She said that she will always see me as her girl. I almost cried but I fell asleep before the coming of my tears. It is so hard in our society to be trans. In french, almost every word has a gender, but I don't want to talk about me like I was a girl (like my mom advised me) 'cause I'm not and I feel comfortable with this identity. I really needed this song, I really needed to know that I can exist and that I'm safe somewhere. So, thank you Kat. This singer is absolutely incredible. I love their voice ❤️ And I love knowing a non-binary artist. Their music really is amazing. Thanks to Trinkets too for making me discover Birds, Supernova and King of Shadow.
