Testing hammock camping gear in the Finnish winter : SUCCESS!

Welcome along on my first overnight winter camping adventure of 2024! I decided to test my new sleeping bag, a Thermarest Polar Ranger, while hammock camping at Teerisaari Island, in Teijo National Park, SW Finland.
Temperatures remained below freezing throughout my hike and camp, dropping to a minimum of -10C during the night. I was quite apprehensive about hammock camping in the winter, as I have always been cold on previous trips. To keep me warm in the hammock (DD Frontline), I placed a half-inch foam mat between the base layers, outside which I stacked a Bushmen Glow -12C underquilt, followed by a DD hammocks underquilt.
This combination proved to be successful in keeping me warm and cozy all night. I was delighted with the gear! For the record, I purchased all of the gear in my videos with my own money and my opinions are solely my own.

What a beautiful place, Kevin. I remember you were messaging me from this camp. Camping in these conditions gives a whole new set of challenges and it's really interesting to see how you deal with them.

I think it works quite well. The warmth to weight ratio is pretty good,as it weighs 1,56kgs.

I would have stuffed the bag with a wool blanket

@@snowcelt I do sometimes, the lowest I have gone is just zero Celsius though, no under quilt or anything just did your trick of putting a foam yoga style mat in the hammock under me and that actually worked really well, just used my summer bag rated to 0c with a 1L Nalgene hot water bottle and it was nice.
I have the same hammock brand as you I think, I recognise the carabiners, I love that hammock, so good in hot summers
