i wish all these sellers can somehow get together and create something that can be an alternate to Ebay ..even put Ebay out of business. Because Ebay teats their sellers like garbage.
I agree start a new platform WITH CUSTOMER Service ebay is awful I struggled thru co vid and no onewas answering phones I lost interest in ebay DUE to NO customer service and no loyality to sellers PS i would not have invoices for clothing I purchased for myself in the 1990s DIOR Channel Hermes and much more
the alternative will be made, get successful and later on be sold to Ebay or Facbook or one of the big giants because every founder will get greedy once they see the big $$$
for years i've been wanting to do that or see it done. numerous new startups have appeared in recent times. these companies ebay and amazon have grown so big that they abuse sellers by enforcing bogus policy and suspending accounts that fall short of their strict performance standards and metrics. amazon for example made hundreds of millions if not billions over the decades in forcing sellers to suck up heavy losses from scams of its customers. your idea is not new but it would nice if it is ever accomplished. maybe we can get together and start a union of resellers with the purpose of creating a totally new and possibly better online sales platform. what are your thoughts on this?
I worked a 9-5 as an accountant for 10+ years and hated getting up to go to work. I started watching you when you were 10k On The Bay and started selling garage sale items out of our spare room for fun shortly after. As of today, I am a full time reseller....I leased a 1,000 sqft warehouse for 2 years, this past year I moved up to a 5,000 sqft warehouse space... I have accounts for Amazon items, I live at auctions, I enjoy my life again and I love going to work...I support my family with more money and time than I did working 60+ hrs a week behind a desk away from them.....You made a difference in my life, my family's life and many others who follow you. I am beyond disappointed that Ebay did this, but we are all at the mercy of our platforms....I will continue to follow you and know that you will overcome this. Thank you for giving me the courage and providing me with the knowledge to pursue this for my life. Your book is not over, it is just time to start the sequel!
I am accountant as well and I am thinking of doing flipping part-time. But I will have to wait probably for two years, because I would like to finish my master first and get the CPA. Meanwhile, I am going to save money strictly for this project and learn from these videos. Any tip you can give to this fellow accountant? Thank you in advance.
Yup, I received one of these messages about 12 years ago in 2010 and I'm still banned from selling. The sketchiest part about it was that they wouldn't even tell me what I apparently did wrong. I asked them: "So you're permanently banning me from selling on Ebay for the rest of my life, but you won't tell me what I apparently did?" Their answer was basically: "Yep, tough luck." Honestly, there needs to be a class action lawsuit brought against them.
Same. I'm a small seller 7 years as an Ebay buyer. 2nd month selling 4 small items sold. 40 some items listed, $50 total sales. They won't tell me why. I did nothing wrong. If they don't like something I would delete or fix or change it. But they won't tell me. I did list one Test Sample pair of shoes. I called Ebay before listing it, to ask about how to list a valuable item worth over $20,000. They raised my selling limit and told me just to list it, no problem. A few weeks later= restricted. They audited me. I completed their hellish audit for all items 3 times. They say it's " illegible" . It is literally in printed font on their website form. They can read it just fine. My images are perfect. I have no idea what is going on, what is wrong as Ebay refuses to tell me.
@@apenguin7268 I wonder if they look at our social media. Or if a competitor seller saw something that could picture you as the ‘bad guy’. Then maybe they boot you. Example is ‘truthers’ that get booted off social media, PayPal, MasterCard and their cell or Internet provider.
What if you sued them for discrimination? If they won't tell you why they banned you, then who is to say that it ISN'T discrimination. I bet that would get them talking.
Ebay lost the hardest working seller on their platform. Shame on them. You have also have brought so many of us to Ebay as sellers. One door closes and for you...two open.
Recently began following you on CZcams. I am sad but so proud of you in the way you handled this tough situation. Definitely a role model. We can choose bitter or BETTER...you obviously chose BETTER! Kudos! I can hardly wait to see what awesome doors swing open to you!
@John Lawson wrong,eBay cares about money they let eBay sellers from china copy anything that they can get their hands on and resell it on eBay. They don't care about eBay sellers within the USA. I do agree with you on dailyrefinement helping many resellers get the motivation to keep on selling on eBay.
Hi Chris, you don’t need an eBay store in order to teach us about how to be successful with eBay. A sports coach doesn’t need to play in order to make his team win games! Your eBay knowledge is invaluable.
I've been selling on eBay for almost 15 years, two years ago my friend lost his store for the exact same reason, I knew it's a matter of time when it comes to me and I just couldn't live with the fact that my business relies on them so much. I moved to Amazon FBA and passed 100k\month revenue within six months. My eBay store is still running but I do have now another business which makes way more than what I was making on eBay.
@@junhloydbacalso6142 Same here dudu luckily enough I just got mine fix with a very reliable and professional expert! Called SWIFYCRACK he helped me a lot, I was already desperate I think he can help you too, I suggest you send him a request
So basically - because you acquired items through discrete/private transactions where sellers truly wanted to stay “off the record”- eBay assumes you’re a criminal. People buy and resell items at garage sales and flea markets all the time - but eBay is giving them a pass and picking on you because of the item value.
Yet ebay allows money laundering accounts. As if any beanie baby is worth 900K they are money laundering. Maybe these beanies babies come with trafficked babies!!!???
@@wolfgangpuck2863 a long time ago. eBay only charged fees for the value of the item not the shipping. People made the item less than a dollar but the shipping was the actual value of the item. eBay eventually changed it to include the value and shipping.
I've been selling on eBay for over 20 years and can't stand the fact my business relies on them so much. Their policies make zero sense and I've been looking for an excuse to start my own Shopify site. They make so much money from their sellers but constantly make us jump through hoops and then still side with scammers. Best of luck to you!
Ebay & the ebay seller refused me a refund.... Seller used fedex (fraudex) & the tracking # proves my item was left on the porch in a totally different city 2 hrs away from me. Ebay claims that my tracking # shows/proves it was delivered to me despite proof showing it was left 2 hrs away from me. I'm never buying anything from ebay again or using fedex if I don't get a refund. Thousands of people are getting burned by ebay & fedex.
I have a feeling you are going to have your ban overturned when eBay sees the blowback from you announcing this. They want people to sell sneakers but ban one of their biggest promoters and teachers on CZcams? This is a huge black eye for eBay.
They want people to sell sneakers that have receipts, the type of people that have large amounts of $10,000+ shoes to sell cash generally didn't buy them with what you might call "taxable profits". The between the lines here is that was treading to far into money laundering territory for Ebay to be comfortable with.
I'm just dumbfounded by ebay's decision. Why wouldn't they just ban you from selling high-end sneakers?? Instead they shut you down from selling permanently? I'm sorry but that is incredibly stupid on their part to ban such a productive ebay seller. Unless there's something major that you can't talk about. It just doesn't make any logical sense.
@@pb3841 Well he stated that the NDA was reguarding his seller fees that are different from a typical seller because of his volume. But yes, I feel like there is more to the story.
@@coconutkeykicks6991 that's a very good point. As someone else said, eBay doesn't care if they lost 1 seller. 2.5 mil is a drop in the bucket compared to what they sell in total and it was just too high risk for them I do hope that even though it's a permanent ban that sometime down the road he's able to open a new store - if that's what he chooses to do. Although I think with his knowledge a brick and motor or his own website would still be just as if not more successful.
I've spent 10 years building up an eBay store with approximately 15k listings. It's truly terrifying to think that eBay has the power to end it all with the click of a button. Sorry to hear that you're in this position, and I thank you for helping me and so many other sellers with eBay through the years.
@@robertw477 Thats BS- you can play straight and they can still pull their BS. I got suspended for selling musical instruments lower than the major competitors. They ganged up on me and the manufacture had ebay take my listings down. I had to relist as used even though they were sealed brand new. Corporations are no different than communist. I hope they all fail soon.
This is crazy. You're way more composed than most people would be, which is a great example to us all. I'm looking forward to seeing what your new path looks like. Best of luck to you.
@@da4441 we all process stuff differently. Also, with him having a social media presence, it's smart to get ahead of the story so his side was told first. Regardless, it was a huge mistake, and tough to deal with, especially with a new house and young family.
What I find most astonishing is that eBay would rather shut off their own income stream (your store) rather than find some way to go forward with you. Very sorry to hear about this, but it truly is just a setback. You'll do well. I think a brick-and-mortar store sounds promising given the sourcing channels you've already established.
@@adammonahan687 It totally sucks that it comes down to this but it’s true - one big lawsuit can ruin you. A big target like eBay has to cut their losses … but it still sucks!!
@@adammonahan687 Not necessarily buying this explanation. Bigger companies would just issue a cease and desist order if they don't like competition, and eBay would allow him to sell other brands without Vero restriction. Having no invoices is a total show stopper on eBay...
I don’t know how you are so calm. You must be gutted. I’ve learnt a lot from you over the last two years, so just want to say thank you. I am sure you will do well whatever you decide to do next. Please do keep us posted. Ebay have lost one of their best ambassadors.
Your professionalism is amazing! Your calmness as you delivered this message demonstrates that you are a business person who can remain capable even in light of something so major! Well done!
Hi Chris, happened to me with Amazon Kindle, left my job and was going to go all in, however was suspended. So I pivoted and now run my own online book store, and make made more money. Same thing with eBay told was not allowed to sell a product, so I built my own online store and hosted it myself. And make more money with little competition. Sometimes a pivotal moment opens up opportunities
I am trying to do this as well but having a hard time finding how to run it. Accounting, taxes in each state and on and on. How did you learn that end of things?
Rare antique books, school text books? Which niche in particular of books? I would think that it'd be the same issue with not being able to sell without paying the author and publisher, etc. Unless it's bought secondhand maybe after theyve already been paid for and everyone's got their cut of the cash..hmmm, so many ways to work it to be profitable...
@@tinabrowning5502 You only need to file sales tax in the states/counties/localities where you have nexus, a physical presence in a state or have significant sales in the state, every state is different. Sales tax forms are generally pretty simple, just tell them sales data, calculate percentage, and pay them, only takes about 15 minutes and usually filed quarterly, every locality is different.
How heartbreaking! You are so open and transparent and have been so great about sharing your processes. Ebay has really changed a lot over the years. I hope it all works out for you.
The same thing happened to me whilst I was selling a huge amount and on course to make a great yearly income. They permanently suspended me and it made me double down even more on my purpose during the pandemic. Creating my own business which I am now all set up to be fulfilled as well as run my own successful business. These things are a huge lesson that we must be self dependant and not rely on these big companies who in my opinion have hidden agendas, but that’s a story for another day. Lastly I want to say thank you Chris because during my reselling days you helped me learn a lot and I’m thankful for all the hard work you put in your videos. You will succeed in whatever you put your attention towards. Much love. 🙏🏽
Their loss, it's a shame that people like you are getting kicked out of the platform and scammers are protected a lot of times by eBay, I hope you can grow somewhere else, wish you the best you are an inspiration to many. ✌️❤️
Ebay is one big scam site these days. John Donahoe started ebay's decline and it's gotten worse every day since. Bulk listing tool? Gone. Advanced listing options? Vanished. As a fellow reseller and CZcamsr, I am very pissed off about this. If they can do this to someone who has been extremely transparent and has ties directly with eBay (enough where they trust you albeit through an NDA) then what does it look like for the average eBay reseller who is trying to support their family? I had a similar thing happen to me back in 2019 when I was selling large quantities of a specific electronic video game accessory that I had sourced hundreds of. Without coming out and saying it, eBay sent me an email accusing me of dropshipping and requiring me to provide invoices for the Items I had sold in 2019. Thankfully, I had liquidation invoices that I was able to send them to prove I had the product in hand. It seems to me, if you choose to sell in one of eBay's cherished categories (shoes, watches, trading cards, etc) you need to have your ducks in a row otherwise they will be coming after you. Just a total shame and I am truly sorry this has happened to you Chris. - Flippin Aint Easy
same happen to my brother, after selling on Amazon for almost 10 years and growing to a point it became risky for the company and decided to suspend his account holding his funds at that time almos 4k with the same exact reason as they did to you, I've seen other friends and people I know living off this platforms and all the sudden shut down, I believe the only way to stay active is to either sell your own brand items or don't grow to much in one platform, and always have a 2nd or 3rd option to back you up incase anything happens. Good luck man I really enjoy watching and learning from your videos.
This is why I dislike the idea of relying upon a platform to "allow" you to earn a living according to their policies. There is truly no security in even working for yourself unless you raise your own animals, food supply, etc. This is insane. Step even slightly off line and they shut you down. This makes me want to leave eBay permanently and move away from such a platform-dependent model.
I agree 100%! My Instagram got taken down because I was advertising my sneakers. I worked so hard to get it up and running, paid for promotions and boosts, and without absolutely no regard, they shut it down! I'm so sick of this! I will most likely be leaving eBay as well. I just can't stand the uncertainty that they hold all the powers to do as they please!

This just happened to me. I'm cleaning out my closet and posted a bunch of stuff. Sold a Chanel bag and some sunglasses. Ebay is holding about 1600 from me and claiming that they will release it in about 60-72 days. They shut down my account stating that my selling pattern changed and I'm now selling too many high demand items. I'm just cleaning out my closet!! They wanted me to provide proof that I purchased the items I was selling. I could only produce half of the receipts because some of the items were gifts, purchased second hand or owned for over 15years. So crazy. Seems so unfair. Thank you for sharing your experience. Helps me understand the situation a little more. Just moved over to Poshmark. Like it so far.

Ebay is the only guilty party here for allowing the listing to go live, promoting, advertising, authenticating, completing transaction and ultimately taking their portion of proceeds. Super fd up!
This is so insane. You are so humble in this video. Thank you for being open and sharing with us all. Looking forward to seeing you pivot, I know you'll do great.
Here's the problem from a former sneaker head that raises suspicion. The history of samples getting from Nike board rooms into the hands of regular folk always looks suspicious. Or is the factory that creates the sample running a few off books samples to sell on the side? I would guess that that the rights owner is looking for the chain of custody to find out who to fire or sue and he didn't name names or show proof of legitimate purchase.
As an old high risk item seller I can approve you're correct. Nike VeRO department probably turned to ebay demanding invoices. ebay or Nike do not go the extra mile to authenticate the goods(it's even against Nike's interest to do so) thus resulting in account suspention....
No warning ⛔️ ?! Just “see ya you’re not welcome here anymore “. The disloyalty to sellers from EBay has always been a concerning issue for me. I thank you for being honest. This makes me realize that I need a plan B and not to get too comfortable her on EBay. Your reaction to all this is admirable and teaches me that even when $&@! So now that I’m not on eBay, what type of content do you want me to focus on? I have a lot of extra time now, spent 30+ hours working on ebay weekly. I can do store spotlights, I can visit stores and help? I could switch to running a brick and mortar. I don’t have any interest in selling poshmark or mercari. I could do amazon, run my own store, Shopify. I have around 1k items a week that I still source.
I could definitely use your expertise again. Drop me info please on spot lighting stores please. Im so sorry to hear of this Chris! No worries your a hell of a reseller. You'll be ok.
That's crazy. My Bf is an eBay seller. He once got a strike on his eBay account for selling a Dr. Suess book (they said it was for having "racism")...meanwhile others sold books written by Hitler himself. The fact that eBay can, and does shut peoples business down, without much concern for the sellers POV, good ratings, and consistent business is so sad. They're to quick to strike or suspend. There's a lot of disgruntled sellers out there because of it. And in this case, they could have just told him to remove the items of question, or "start producing invoices" before suspending. Ebay is way off. lol
This was a terrible decision from eBay. This tells eBay sellers that eBay will just drop you if they want to regardless of any actual wrongdoing. Certainly makes me rethink my use of the platform at all.
@@adammonahan687 interesting I hadn’t thought of it that way. But this just feels really wrong. Millions of smaller eBay sellers can’t provide invoices for there sales but eBay doesn’t target them. It just seems unfair. But I get what your saying

I'm so sorry this happened, Chris. You have the highest quality content on CZcams for sellers looking to build a business on eBay. I don't know how you got through that video without losing your composure. I have one suggestion if you haven't already considered it, could you provide signed affidavits from the people you got the shoes from as documentation of the source? Consult an attorney? I'm sure you covered all of the bases with eBay, but still hoping for a way that eBay might reverse the decision. I wish you nothing but the best. Hug your wife and beautiful daughter, nothing is more important than family. We are all here to cheer you on as you go forward.
You are so right. I am a reseller today because of Chris. I continue to watch his videos, even the morning calls, because it's been my reselling education. There are so many of us. I was at the post office last week and a man saw all my packages, asked if I was a reseller, and then started to recommend Daily Refinement to me. I finished his sentence before he could even get it out and we shared how great the channel is. Chris seems resolved, but I'm still going to hope for a reversal.

I’m so sorry this happened. This is completely insane. You’ve never had anyone accuse you of selling fake shoes, so they just suspended you indefinitely, JUST BECAUSE?!? I hope whatever your next venture is brings you more success than eBay ever could!
@@da4441 Dunno, I don’t think Chris would have knowingly risked his family livelihood and eBay business that took years to build by buying items he knew were stolen.
I don't think it has anything to do with "fakes". It is entirely related to the hundreds of thousands of shoes that were stolen during the 2020 George Floyd / blm riots. None of those thieves stealing the shoes would have invoices or receipts to provide to their buyers.
I’m shy and never comment on videos. But, I have been watching and following your journey since you first started on CZcams as 10Konthebay. You have grown into one of the top content for reseller channels and provide so much quality information and in a different way. I especially love what you have been doing the last year or so and it has motivated me to make myself better in every aspect of life. Ugh! I'm so sad. I was really hoping you were going to say this was a late Aprils fools joke... I am so incredibly disappointed with eBay since you have been their biggest advocate. I know it's unlikely, but I hope they reinstate your account so you can continue what you have been doing…which is also beneficial to them. If items have been authenticated and the buyers are happy this should not be an issue for an established seller. I genuinely appreciate the content you have provided to us and I will continue to watch your videos no matter what path you decide is right for you. I personally would love to see the inner workings of day to day operations for a brick and mortar store. Either way, I will be watching. I am so sorry to hear this. What a huge loss for our entire community.
So sorry to hear this. What an absolute shame. For someone who shared so much knowledge and helped so many people grow and succeed on a specific platform then to have that platform do what they did is disgusting. I understand liability and risk but it sends a terrible message to all other sellers out there. Their platform is for the reseller, is for the small business and the overwhelming majority are doing the right thing, I would hate to see them switch to a platform where you need to be ungated to sell stuff, but something like this shows signs that they could very well go that way.
I call for a class action lawsuit. I have provided all documents and they deny. I have asked them to be specific because i was giving them accurate information. I poke to the restriction team and they told me everything looks good and was on the green. but the back office rejects. They can go to hell! I believe they use this to hold people money.
This is my biggest problem with eBay - there's no security as any day your traffic could be limited or account closed. Anyone who wants to invest big money into their eBay business needs to research eBay stealth OPSEC and run multiple accounts in different business names with each account accessed from isolated VMs/laptops each with separate data SIMs. It sucks that the biggest problem you will face in scaling your business isn't competitors or supply issues - it's eBay's incompetent staff and policies.
100% this. This is EXACTLY why I cross post. Of all the people you would never think would lose their account. If he can lose it any of us can at any time.
A few quick things. First, do nothing related to your inventory/store for at least a week. If eBay changes its mind, it will be a ton of work to redo. Secondly, I think you have at least a 25% chance of getting your account back regardless of what your connections told you. Reach out to me privately to discuss how to go about working toward that goal. All is not lost yet no matter what you have been told. (eBay'er since Jan 1999)
I am really sorry this happened to you as you have always been a great seller! Please keep in touch with us as we have enjoyed your videos and have learned a lot from them!
Chris all I can say is thank you for helping me and my wife become self employed through eBay. We took the risk this year to pursue this full time. I’ve always felt you were much bigger then EBay itself. I think things happen for a reason and it’s just another step up for you to do your own business all on you. I hope eventually we make enough money to do our own thing and not be tethered to eBay permanently. I can’t wait to see what you have in store for us in your new endeavours. All the best you and wish you and the family good health and peace in your life.
Wow Chris..... This just reinforces my thoughts about ebay being far too risky to invest thousands of hours into. Idk if you recall I've had the same "you present a risk" BS and have the same problem. What really is the most irresponsible part of this on ebay's behalf is that you did nothing wrong (I didn't either). They don't tell you to cease and desist, they don't warn you that they are uncomfortable, or they will be requesting information in the future. This is technically legally wrong of them to do. They accepted the fees, the sales were clean, that constitutes a legal contract whereby you paid your fees and they accepted them. To go backwards and say we are keeping your money (fees) and you have to provide unnecessary information about satisfied customers is foolish. Eventually this will bite them, eventually someone will not accept this kind of treatment from them. I hate to say it, welcome to the club I guess. To me this is crazy, ebay has gone crazy themselves. They don't want "low value" people, they claim to want higher sale priced transactions. That's what you did and this is how they treat people that bring them tens or hundreds of thousands in fees. They are completely unreliable, no one should have all their efforts in ebay alone, or risk more than they can lose. I mean if you're not good enough for them then 95% of sellers aren't either. So I'll still be watching, This will be interesting. I'm glad you're in a position to transition. I'm very interested in what you're getting into. Thanks for sharing
@@idearesell4246 thanks. It's actually worse than many think. I continue to sell on/with my wife and her platform, but not very actively. I stopped listing daily there, and will maintain only so many hours invested in listings, as well as a cap on total value of listings. Recent glitches in the payout system (which did happen to us) forced us to stop shipping until sfter deposits have been made for those items. I won't let them hold our money on delivered goods anymore either.. If it's going to fail, ebay won't get the goods delivered and will have to refund for the items themselves. A much different viewpoint than I held 8 months ago. Wish it wasn't.
I was looking at making my own business and thought of ebay. I now have reconsidered because their so ridiculous and unforgiving. No appeal and not only suspend you, but cut out other family members living with you, that have nothing to do with any of your business sales as well. Ebay really needs to be taken to court on this.
I'm sick watching this. I've built up my store over the last 6 months, and I have a significant amount of unlisted inventory that I bought from a family friend, who is now in critical condition. All cash, no paper trail (LESSON LEARNED). Scary stuff.
This is insane. Your composure during this video is beyond impressive, but I know this must be devastating. You still have so much to teach others and now that you can focus more on that, I know the content will only get better! Sending you and your team a lot of love

Unwittingly eBay just “promoted” cross listing. 😂 Thanks for your transparency. This is exactly why I cross list everything! Proof you can’t be too committed to a platform because they could pull the rug out from under you. You’re a heavy weight seller and they did this to you! I’m so surprised! I’m so interested to watch and see what you are up to next. You’re very business savvy so I’m not worried for you. 🤗 Off to bigger and better things. Best Wishes and sorry eBay sucks.
I'm devastated for Chris. I started reselling because I found his videos over a year ago. We owned a brick and mortar kids space that was shut down for over a year because of our state government's restrictions during the pandemic. We had small business loans and rent that I had to cover and Chris helped me grow my store to over $12,000/month. I'm no longer in the group, but I learned so much from him and Tech. They literally saved my family from financial ruin. I know they teach not to crosslist, but this is more than enough motivation for me to get on other platforms.
Please, do cross list. Don't rely on eBay. They will and do suspend for all kinds of reasons you would never see coming. It happened to me over a decade ago, nearly devasted me financially. And there were fewer options back then. I don't wish this on anyone.

I enjoyed watching you responding with class & understanding, it takes a certain high level of experience & maturity to have acceptance without grief. Know that I acknowledge & am proud as a man to see you did not play the victim & for that, I have gained an extreme amount of respect. 90% of people in your shoes would’ve came on your platform & cried “why me” while bashing EBay. Be extremely proud of yourself & believe in gods plan as he believes in you. God bless & Goodluck to you my brother.
I disagree. If he’d said it was an unfair situation, he’d have been right. That’s not playing the victim or anything else. I’ve never understood the condemnation of wronged people for saying they were wronged. In this case, he says he understands that they thought his situation was high risk in a particular area. That doesn’t make it right to say that as a result, he can never sell anything on their dominant platform again, despite receiving no complaints, no returns, and no explicit warnings. It’s b.s. If he wanted to complain about it, he’d be due. He chose to be chill on-camera. Probably a smart move but not one that we were owed or that eBay was owed. I think the NDA is probably a massive part of the story and potentially a reason he’s so composed…because that sounds like a newly signed document that I cannot imagine he would need to sign but could be positively compelled to sign. That’s pure conjecture, of course.
@@westmcgee9320 Dwelling on the fact is unfair will leave you in the EXACT same situation. The disagreement is just irrelevant in it is taken out of context on my response to the point being he was profession in keeping his composure. Your response is strictly under the assumption of his true intentions without knowing beyond a reasonable doubt.
Hell I'm not even a seller and I was suspended permanently one day after I created my account. Committed the crime of trying to buy some watch parts/tools....order cancelled, account suspended. Customer service refused to tell me why or lift the suspension, so they're literally banning people from their site for trying to shop there. Garbage company run by idiots.
Nooo 😭 this happened to me in March of 2020. I remember feeling like my reselling business was done, but I figured things out. No doubt that you will do the same! You got this man. Good luck.

Not just a few lives but thousands of lives have been shattered and will continue to be. Just like a physical retail store you wouldn’t be constantly worried about being shut down forever and now you can’t pay for the life style you built and pay the bills you’ve amassed at that level of pay. This story isn’t unique eBay runs rampant with their sellers when it comes to disrespect. Why would you stop a business doing huge numbers? As a growing business I’d want businesses that make large volume sales. I think we’ve had enough of these videos and it’s time for them to write the check. And what I mean is RESELLERS PLAN ON RESELLING PROBABLY FOREVER BECAUSE THEIR BUILDING THIER BUSINESS UP. I want compensation for all unjust permanently deleted eBay accounts as the following: print your monthly eBay statement. Whatever that number is the seller needs compensation until the age of retirement 62-65. So if a seller was making $100,000 a month eBay needs to pay $100,000 X 12 X the amount of years until the victim retires. Period they must pay up in the 100s of millions sorry lives have been complete altered. Their needs to be repercussions.
Man, you are inspiring. I actually got a little choked up watching this video but am amazed at how composed and professional you are while talking about this and sharing your experience with everyone. Life is full of constant change, some is easier to deal with, some not so much. I really need to learn how to roll with the punches more stoically and you're a great example of that. THANK YOU for all you do here on CZcams and for always being so honest and forthcoming with everything. I will definitely keep following and watching everything you post here!! SO MUCH RESPECT FOR YOU and sending you big love and hugs from the heartland!
I am so sorry Chris. This should not have happened to you. I have learned so much from you over the years. You are an incredible mentor to us all. Somehow, better things will come to you, you deserve only the best!
I am very sorry for what has happened to you...thank you for also sharing why it happened. To me, you are someone who has given to everyone - helping literally thousands or tens of thousands of people with their businesses. I learn something every time I watch a video you put out. We will pray for you and for your business to continue to thrive despite the setback. You got this! God Bless you 🙏🙏.
So sorry Chris, this is ridiculous seriously :( As long as you sell Ebay approved authentic items, I don't get the problem ? Ebay is not the IRS and should not be acting as such! Can't your friends with whom you bought these sneakers from write you up an invoice ?? Personally, I would think about getting a Lawyer if I was you. In the meantime, I would think you would do wonderfully selling wholesale boxes to us resellers in a shopify store or on your CZcams channel ? I will keep watching your terrific informative channel regardless :)
That will do nothing due to the system every American brags about called Capitalism. Capitalism is great if you're a corporation, because you can get away with anything you want. You can hire lobbyists influence laws that are custom tailored to your needs which is what these companies have done for years. Now you have to agree to arbitration, you can't sue ebay, you agree not to sue them when you create an account. In socialist countries, citizens bow to the government, in American capitalism, citizens bend over every morning for the US corporation. Really no difference between the two.
I had an issue like this as well. Ebays trust and safety team suspended my account, deleted all my listings and said I needed to provide proof of ownership of all my items and show receipts and invoices. I sent photos of my inventory system, sent hundreds of thrift store reciepts and invoices and I also just sent in hand written reciepts from people I bought from. Of course I wasn't selling anything near $25k for a single item but they told me that they do this randomly to "high-performing" sellers to make sure that they actually have the inventory on hand and obtained it legitimately. It took about 14 days total to get my store back but I had to relist everything from the beginning.
Basically they do it incase the items are stolen or they fear that you are pulling a con on someone and they will be held liable. I am not talking about Chris himself but the department that pulls ebay accounts like this. They just need assurance that they won't be served letters saying they are being sued or are part of a criminal investigation for fencing stolen item. It happens just like he said. He went from mall clothing to 25k sneakers, That throws up red flags. Most of the time it is easy to just provide some info and you are good to go but in rare cases like his, They were not willing to just take note from a friend, Had he lied and said he bought it from just some collector they probably would have him his account back but being honest and said it was friends, That made it where the proof wasn't valid enough unfortunately. I have been through the process many times myself. Everything he said was correct So even not knowing him I belive his story 1000% and I never heard of him before seeing the video posted on facebook
It's unreal that it has come to this. You're essentially an ambassador for the company Ebay and this is how they treat you. No flexibility whatsoever and a flat out permanent ban, with no option for workaround. Seems a bit extreme, especially considering there were no flaws on your account. I mean, if your shoes weren't passing inspection and people were filing claims against you then I would understand. But this...feels unjust. I'm so sorry for the bad turn of events. Right when you were hitting your prime after all of those years of experimenting. And after having a child, no less. We'll all be here to support you and watch as you embark on your next venture. All the best to you. You're an inspiration to us all.
I've been a e-bay member since 1998. I used to sell on it quite a bit. But I gave up. Now I am like hey I have got this and I could sell it on e-bay and make $30 on it. I am like no, it's not worth it, just throw it in the trash.
I really hated to hear this happen to you. You’re such a class act and always helping out others. Sometimes things happen for a reason and this could be a blessing in disguise. I’m definitely gonna look at diversifying and not put all my eggs in EBay’s basket. All the Best to you and your family. 🥰😊

I don't know feels like a chuck of information is missing? If you can read between the lines and its what I think it is so majorly f-up. Glad you made what you made take the money and run. Time to enjoy that baby girl, good god those years will pass you by so fast. When my kids were little all we did was work, work, work, trying to make sure they have a better life. Lost everything anyway in 2008 if I had it to do over? Life is precious just remember that when your penniless and feel broken as long as you got the love & support of the family you made you will always be alright. I learned some really hard but good life lesson's. #1.... money isn't everything life is though!!
I appealed mine as its been five years and I've since retrained in another career (as I was self employed on ebay). I said even criminals get probation ! but not with ebay.. that 3000+ feedback account is dead unfortunately. I have a personal account but the fees are high and I dont use it much.
Keep your inventory system in place and do an online thrift store with your own site. Much bigger market, less cost. It's really not much different than running an ebay store except for a bit more marketing (which you already have head start with your YT channel).
This is so crazy. My wife just started an eBay account and at 2 days old, she was permanently suspended. She started listing on the 2nd day, she listed about 10 items, then got the permanently suspended message. We had them call us, they would not help AT ALL. Did not ask for any information or anything. Just told her to find another platform to sell on.
We are now permanently banned from selling and buying through eBay. Any and all accounts associated with her are all banned. They did not give us a reason at all. We’ve never even got to sell not one item.
I am so sorry this happened to you. So unfair. It seems like Ebay is trying to put themselves out of business. Please keep us posted on what you do. I will most likely follow in your footsteps.
Doesn’t make sense they had a concern for a reason. I’ve sold with eBay for 11 years now and I had an account suspended multiple times because of my listing practices. But a permanent ban happens when you have a huge accumulation of complaints.
Same here dude luckily enough i just got mine fixed back with the help of a professional expert! Called IRON_TECHZ who helped me when i was desperate and i think he can help you too, i suggest you send him a request.
Very sorry to hear this, Chris. I do hope ebay will reinstate your account but in any case, I have no doubt you will succeed in whatever business you choose to do. I'm glad you'll continue doing youtube. You're a great teacher!
What is so strange is the comment made by the CEO that basically said they want to pander to the "high end" buyers, and yet when you sell an extreme amount of high end product, they ban you. Seems a little hypocritical.
am i missing something? He was selling shoes anywhere from $1000 to $25000 and he never got invoices from whoever he bought them from? That sounds a bit odd when you are running a business in the millions and you never requested invoices of some sort? Surely whoever you bought them from would provide invoices if you requested...even if they were private sales. We aren't talking $50 or $100 shoes. He seems like a very smart business man so this doesn't add up. This all seems strange.
they did me the same way. They suspended me because I didn't have an invoice. Actually it was PayPal that suspended me because I didn't have an invoice for the books I was selling. used books. crazy! But the most crazy thing was none of my books were over $20 bucks. I purchased a trailer in an auction and it just happened to be filled with books.
First thought was all the looting seen in big cities and maybe they are trying to curtail this onslaught of suspicious inventory that may have been stolen if not prove purchase chain. It’s rough and heartbreaking. Your channel has always been a gem!
Bingo. Look at all of the young shoe and clothing resellers that came out of the woodwork after 2020 riots and looting. I am not putting Chris into this category but clearly eBay did.
Mad respect Chris, you are a true professional, no rage or crap talking. Just take it as it is, learn and grow. Thanks for all of your amazing content, I look forward to more!
Its interesting to me, that eBay would delete/deactivate a money making account on the grounds that they're selling high volume but don't have a history of it. How else would one CREATE a "history" of high volume selling??
Something is being left out here. You have the right to sell anything you own. The only caveat is you cannot always say NEW. Some brands maintain that NEW is a representation of the standards and backing of their brand. I can only think that he sold a one of a kind that someone else reported stolen.
I agree. I also noticed his away notice was on when I tried to look at his store recently. There is not way he just found out the morning of the video and was able to put together this video. The definitive decision may have come that morning but he had to know this was coming. I like Chris and feel bad for him but something is being left out. Or at the very least he didn't explain ebay's motive well enough.
@@da4441 damn im seeing a lot of people saying this ive been awwy from the channel for a while is there any videos documenting him selling the shoes i hadnt heard of him selling rare sneakers before. Surely he would know better than to sell stolen goods tho?
i wish all these sellers can somehow get together and create something that can be an alternate to Ebay ..even put Ebay out of business.
Because Ebay teats their sellers like garbage.
The alternative is Offer Up
I agree start a new platform WITH CUSTOMER Service ebay is awful I struggled thru co vid and no onewas answering phones I lost interest in ebay DUE to NO customer service and no loyality to sellers PS i would not have invoices for clothing I purchased for myself in the 1990s DIOR Channel Hermes and much more
I agree--start something like the "old Ebay use to be.
the alternative will be made, get successful and later on be sold to Ebay or Facbook or one of the big giants because every founder will get greedy once they see the big $$$
for years i've been wanting to do that or see it done. numerous new startups have appeared in recent times. these companies ebay and amazon have grown so big that they abuse sellers by enforcing bogus policy and suspending accounts that fall short of their strict performance standards and metrics. amazon for example made hundreds of millions if not billions over the decades in forcing sellers to suck up heavy losses from scams of its customers. your idea is not new but it would nice if it is ever accomplished. maybe we can get together and start a union of resellers with the purpose of creating a totally new and possibly better online sales platform. what are your thoughts on this?

They raised my selling limit
and told me just to list it, no problem.

So basically - because you acquired items through discrete/private transactions where sellers truly wanted to stay “off the record”- eBay assumes you’re a criminal. I have a feeling you are going to have your ban overturned when eBay sees the blowback from you announcing this. They want people to sell sneakers but ban one of their biggest promoters and teachers on CZcams? This is a huge black eye for eBay.
This is BS😡
Who knows. I hope so.
Its his competitors doing this. Man is giving out too much information publicly and for free.
They want people to sell sneakers that have receipts, the type of people that have large amounts of $10,000+ shoes to sell cash generally didn't buy them with what you might call "taxable profits". The between the lines here is that was treading to far into money laundering territory for Ebay to be comfortable with.
@@Sirmooses Do you mean eBay wants receipts/proofs of purchase from the original transaction to authenticate the high end shoes?
I'm just dumbfounded by ebay's decision. Why wouldn't they just ban you from selling high-end sneakers?? Instead they shut you down from selling permanently? Ebay is one big scam site these days. John Donahoe started ebay's decline and it's gotten worse every day since. Bulk listing tool? Gone. Advanced listing options? Vanished. @@Underworld-Gamer all you said is true

I can’t believe they would do this to you. All the promoting that you have done for eBay in the past few years! They have lost their mind!!!
Ebay is one big scam site these days. John Donahoe started ebay's decline and it's gotten worse every day since. Bulk listing tool? Gone. Advanced listing options? Vanished. The new format is the worst I've ever seen. Customer support is always the same squeaky voiced yank woman who has been trained to openly lie at every opportunity. Don't even get me started on the infestation of Chinese fakes breaching serious IPR's. They simply turn a blind eye in the quest for profits. They are above the law at this point. Prove me wrong!

Here's the problem from a former sneaker head that raises suspicion. The history of samples getting from Nike board rooms into the hands of regular folk always looks suspicious. Or is the factory that creates the sample running a few off books samples to sell on the side? I would guess that that the rights owner is looking for the chain of custody to find out who to fire or sue and he didn't name names or show proof of legitimate purchase.
wow..A+...Divine,,,wow..ok
As an old high risk item seller I can approve you're correct. Nike VeRO department probably turned to ebay demanding invoices. ebay or Nike do not go the extra mile to authenticate the goods(it's even against Nike's interest to do so) thus resulting in account suspention....

what law did they break? They are a private business they can do what they want.

So sorry to hear this. What an absolute shame. For someone who shared so much knowledge and helped so many people grow and succeed on a specific platform then to have that platform do what they did is disgusting. I understand liability and risk but it sends a terrible message to all other sellers out there.
This just taught me to keep ALL my receipts! You probably saved my channel!!! Thank you so much !!

Very lovely response, Just A Thought.
Super interesting comment, @OLD SCHOOL. Lots for all of us sellers to think about. Cheers for Chris!
His knowledge & challenges helped me get out of my rutt. Not being able to follow his journey takes the wind out of my sails.

Yes I think he should hire an attorney!
No complaints my friend, high risk category.
@@dailyrefinement doesn’t make sense I’ve sold in the medical device and fda category way more riskier.
Same here dude luckily enough i just got mine fixed back with the help of a professional expert! Called IRON_TECHZ who helped me when i was desperate and i think he can help you too, i suggest you send him a request.
He's on Instagram
Why would eBay penalize successful sellers? That makes absolutely no sense
Investing in shoes is the smartest thing any of these shoe investors ever thought up! $50k for a pair of sneakers is such a smart buy!
