  • Miri Goldfarb, the 1991 "Miss Israel" winner visits the Rebbe: "Torah says: 'Beauty is false.' But the verse continues: 'A G-d-fearing woman is to be praised.' The commentaries explain that if a woman is G-d-fearing, she uses her beauty for beautiful endeavors in Torah and Mitzvos. Good tidings, and please relay this message to your friends."

Miri Goldfarb, she did get married after receiving the Rebbe's bracha. Her husband is Eliezer (Eli) Driks, former star player of Maccabi Tel Aviv. As far as I know they are still happily married and have three children.

I met the Rebbe in 1988 and was given similarly wise advice. A few of my fellow Catholic friends said I’d committed a mortal sin in going there...on Sunday, much less, but I was there not to engage in “false worship,” as alleged, but because I was in school writing a paper for an anthropology class. First of all, I didn’t worship the Rebbe, and I didn’t notice anyone else doing so, although only God knew the hearts. Second of all, he quoted Torah to support his words. Third, I related the incident to my priest who said he couldn’t have put it any better. And yes, people knew how to behave respectfully in the presence of an elder. As an outsider, a Catholic gentile at that, I was treated well by the Jews of Crown Heights during the year I committed to research. None of the anti-Semitic tales a few people, including secular Jews, told me proved to be true. Respect goes both ways, so I went out of my way to respect their religion and culture. I told my hosts on a number of occasions, that if they were offended or uncomfortable with anything I said or did, to let me know at once so as to correct myself. In fact, the only time I had a problem was in 1989, right after the riots. I was crossing Utica Ave, heading to Kingston, when a car full of young men swerved as if to run me down, shouted anti-Semitic slurs and curses, and tossed McDonald’s food at me. I’d apparently strayed from Jewish territory? So much for cowards who mistook me for a lone Jewish woman to prove their manhood? This was as much about the politics of race as religion, not why I was there at all.

I wish we could have many, many Rebbes who would tell young women, even older women this truth. All authentic beauty comes from within and is displayed by service to others, the environment or animals. Although outside appearances can be appealing and make others interested, appearances can be false and used for terrible things. Worship of ones appearance, constant focus on it or even envy of another’s appearance is just worshipping false G-ds. You don’t marry someone because they have a beautiful/handsome appearance. You marry them because you think they have a beautiful, kind, mensch like heart. Outer appearance fades with time, however, a beautiful heart only grows more beautiful.

I think beauty especially in women is a blessing of God and has much inherent value both for her and her suitors. All King Solomon is saying is that you should praise a woman with only fear of
God and no beauty or grace because that is all she has. But if she has fear of God and beauty and / or grace the beauty and grace will make her more endeared to herself and husband than the mere fear of God. Look at the Talmud at end of Tractate Taanit and see for yourself that it says exactly that and beauty is the most impt quality in a woman.

Maybe not to atract unnecessary atention? Like not using it for selfish reasons?
I think that goes for all skills, or "gifts" a person has, like just being humble

He gives it to her, so she can give it to poor people. It’s like a little help for her to go the right path. The Rebbe did that with everyone who was visiting him.

The Rebbi used to give out dollars, that were supposed to be giving to charity. Thereby making the other person messenger for a good deed, and vessel for blessing. Furthermore this insured that when two people meet good came about it. People would often keep that particular dollar and in its place give another dollar for charity, thereby allowing them to keep that specific dollar, which they received from the Rebbe and thereby considered the dollar special.

She came in asking for blessings for her family and for a husband.
The Rabbi gave her a biblical answer why? Because it's not upto him to give ANY blessings. It's upto God.

Our timeless tradition teaches that Moshiach can come before its' time if the 'Generation is Worthy'. This Message from Rabbi Shneerson is also timeless and can help make this Jewish Generation even more worthy, especially if it helps motivate prochoice Jewish feminists to stop advocating for Unnecessary Abortions... 💥👑🚼🖖💥

I don't know what's the message here if it means between a husband and wife then her whole miss Israel thing should close down .and if it means that if she is fearing god then she's allowed to do that well this is one word contradicting itself cause there is no rabbi in the orthodox world that will allow that to show beauty to other men .and if it's for women still you can't rule out that you are not going to be exposed to men and you are causing this I don't believe there is any rabbi in the real orthodox community that will allow this and for sure immodest posings.
