  • The passing this week of The Outfield's lead singer, Tony Lewis, reminded my of a video I created 25 years ago when my employer, the New Jersey Devils, won their first Stanley Cup Championship. I edited the video to The Outfield's "Winning It All." The video was intended to be used for the opening night banner-raising ceremony to start the 1995-96 season, but I ended-up created two other videos and never use this video. Thus, I don't think anyone else has ever seen this video. Ever. Until now.
Also of note is that Devils longtime TV announcer Mike Emrick retired this week and his voice is heard with that famous line, "The Championship to New Jersey, the Devils win the Stanley Cup!"
From my perspective, it was an incredible experience, working the the playoffs and finals. I also met my wife at the victory celebration, and you see footage from that event at the end of this video. But 25 years have passed and the 20 to 25 year-old players you see in this video are now 45-60 years old. Time flies...

This is awesome! Very well done! How long did you work for the Devils? Any other video content in the vault? Also - what software did you use to make this back then? I became a fan in 97 so I had just missed this Cup run but I lived through 00 and was there at Game 7 in 03 against the Mighty Ducks.

Just seeing this now. Worked for them from 94 through 99. I cut this on two 3/4" U-Matic tape machines. There was no software back then. We didn't get an NLE until purchasing an Avid system in n1997.
