Rykard joined with the serpent so he could devour gods, but his list for power was too much. so he aimed to become stronger and stronger by devouring powerful warriors. He got caught up in getting stronger until he lost sight of his true goal. He was supposed to help ranni in changing the golden order
He wanted power, but not to devour people. He wanted this after he became one with the serpent. Meaning he wanted what the serpent wants which is to devour the world.
He basically teaches us that rune farming is bad.
@@TheOneWithNoFNnick afk farming is bad*
He joined him as family and you don't turn your back on family
@@jeebeeheebee How was Rykard devouring warriors afk farming?
Miquella's tower could theoretically also be the isolated Divine tower.
Mohg and Morgott share a tower, so it's not impossible that Malenia and Miquella do too.
Two pairs of twins, this is almost definitely the case.
That’s pretty smart thinking there. Props to you
Very nice thinking ♥️♥️♥️
Interesting fact: Radahn’s teacher was an Alabaster Lord not an Onyx Lord, they seem to be of the same race but also direct opposites of each other, Alabaster is another word for white, Onyx is black. Also, their two respective swords (both named after their owner) have opposite ashes of war. One of them uses gravity to pull foes in, the other uses it to push them back :)
Interesting, thank you for this!
The one on the Lake of rot? Interesting location to find him there. Maybe his teacher tried looking for Malenia?
@@tarnishedofnorenown387 Oooooooh that’s a great observation, he is very out of place there and there not any of his usual mobs that you find them around. He has to be there for either Astel, or Malenia
@@GehrmansWheelchair he has to be there for Malenia since she is link with the Scarlet rot and the children of rot (that lobster thing lol). Must be investigating
@@tarnishedofnorenown387 could be, but there's also a theme of alabaster/onyx lords being present in ancient ruins of the same type as that of the grand cloister.
Also radahn's teacher is more probably the alabaster lord protecting the gravity spell in Raya lucaria.
Rykard is liked by some of his family there’s a dagger Ranni gave him to protect him from maliketh if she failed in the night of the black knives he also has a picture of Rahdahn up in his manor

It's because they both wanted yo go against the greater will. But ranni wanted to make it so distant you could barely belive its there, rykard wanted to just destroy it I think. Ranni used him for her plot along the way tho
@@johndolo9573 i dont think the guy who let himself be devoured by the serpet had a plan, he just despaired when he realized everything radagon did
Morgott calls them traitors, yet he still gives all of them their honorary titles. It's very possible Morgott sealed Rykard's tower, it's equally possible that it was the greater will. It's also possible that this is all a red herring, and maybe the tower ended up being sealed due to disuse; and like was said in the video, other beings took over the tunnel. Morgott is the most likely candidate though, since he's already shown to have sealed areas that are threats to the Erdtree.
I just found out that Gostoc, the gatekeeper you meet when you reach Stormveil Castle, stalks you throughout that map. And he's the one who locks you in that one dark room with knight. Crazy the stuff you find out in this wonderful game.
Yeah he locked me into that room but as a tarnished who already beaten my 1st now 2nd play through and I quote: "I'm not locked in here with you, you're locked in here with me."

He also has a cut line of saying that he is godricks son . Look it up it's pretty interesting, which also explains him having the nobility of having the G in the name (godwyn , Godfrey , godrick ) he also has a cut arm , presumably it was grafted by godrick
Edit : godrick gains power by grafting by stealing limbs , gostoc gains power by stealing runes . Pretty much father like son
As tempting it would be to stike him down for that, you should spare him.
Around the end of the game he become a vendor and sells you a dragon smithing stone.
I learned that after slaying him sadly :'(
I’m by no means an expert but from what I understand, Rykard wished to gain more power so he fed himself to the great serpent. His great rune made it so they became one and he sought greater strength through devouring champions that proved their merit to Volcano Manor. From his dialogue we know he wanted to devour the other shard-bearers and Queen Marika herself. The reason what he’s doing is seen as blasphemous is because we know from item descriptions that when people die in the land between their souls return to the roots of the erdtree. We can see that the innards of the serpent and the sword itself is writhing with the bodies of everyone he’s consumed. So their souls are not able to return to the erdtree. Similar to the dung-eaters seedbed curse.
Godrick is a descendant of the Golden Lineage. He is a descendant of Godwyn. But as his divine blood is diluted, he is weak.
Miquella's great tower is probably the same as Malenia's, like how Morgott and Mohg share a tower. Both are pairs of twins.
Where’s rannis tower tho

When you spend 50 hours on a run through that should take 150 hours you are bound to miss stuff.
Yep. My first playthrough took 250 hours though I am of the incredibly thorough type. 50 hours is no where near enough to get even half the content
He averaged 50 hours per run after 4 runs. I don’t know, that sounds like more than 150 hours to me.

There is another Great Rune you missed out about. It's said, that Ranni cast aside her Great Rune and the player until now is not able to obtain it. Some say if you look close enough at the moon, you may see her Rune carved into it.
Yeah but where is the divine tower for it is it the same one in liurnia
Yes it is the one in liurnia. Bc ranni sacrificed her flesh u are not able to find her rune there. It's stated that the runes are bound to the flesh, so this would explain why hers is not there
illusory walls aren't actually that rare in this game. You've got a left to look forward to if you still haven't found everything. I love this game so much
He said in comparison to dark souls. Scaled up dark souls would still have a significant number more hidden walls the. Elden Ring does
Did you notice that they start later in the game though? In the beginning I constantly wondered if there are any at all or if there is even yet another mechanic to access them (like the way it changed from DS 2 to DS 1) until I found the first side-dungeon with them front and center. After that they started to appear more regularly throughout the game.
Lore: "Man these demi-gods suck."
Goldmask: "I agree."
*PROCEEDS TO SOLVE THAT PROBLEM*
That is interesting insight about Godrick and Godwyn. I've been curious about where Godrick came from and his relation to Godefroy in the Evergaol. So, was "Godrick's Sacred Tower" in Stormveil originally intended to be Godwyn's Sacred Tower? After the Night of the Black Knives, it does seem like most of Godwyn's history and apparent importance was erased or destroyed (other than the massive dead ancient dragon in the Leyndell).
I have heard speculation about Godrick's fascination of grafting and where it could have come from. It makes me think that Godefroy was possibly the direct child of Godwyn (and Godrick the child of Godefroy). Regardless, it's definitely the case that Godrick is quite removed from the Golden bloodline and is incredibly weak by comparison. To make up for that, he took inspiration from Hoarah Loux, but in the opposite approach. Hourah grafted Serrosh on his back to appease his unending bloodlust for battle and conquest, while Godrick sought to graft Tarnished to his body to add their strength to his. Godrick is incredibly narcissistic, envious, and insecure. He desperately wants to be accepted as a true heir to the Golden Lineage and prove he is strong enough for that title (despite being a coward).
That RuneScape music in the background just makes me so happy.
There’s so much of Elden Ring that they could explore more that it would be silly for them not to have multiple DLC releases.
I mean.... I think it's pretty much confirmed that Marika shattered the Ring in a "literal" sense, as read on the flavor text on Marika's hammer. Plus, we can see her hammering away at the ring in the E3 announcement trailer.
There might be more to it, but the literal, physical breaking of the Elden Ring is at least part of the process, if not its entirety.
Based on datamined content (So take it with a grain of salt) Miqulla's great rune and Melania's great rune are, two sides of the same coin as it were. So I have no doubt that, they'll be the same tower. Because they were born as twins, it's like they share power with one another to a point. This was theorized and, "proven" (again, grain of salt) but cut content where one would be able to combine both runes to form the original great rune of Abundance & Decay.
Also mohg and Margott have the same divine tower so it would make sense that miquella and malenia would have the same one
I always thought that that 'meteor' you pointed out just above Altus was a ship's stern and rutter but this game is so crazy a lot of it is left up to the players interpretation. Anyway keep up the good content
“Maybe he did it all just to spite his family”
Man who’d have thought that the giant snake demon guy would be such a relatable and human character?
OSRS music????
You sir, are a man of culture.
I instantly recognized the music and thought the same.
Mannn I love this game ur lore videos are dope as hell an the best thing about this video is the runescape sound track in the background it fits so perfectly 💪🏽💪🏽
Mohg has miquella's rune guessing he did something with his blood, his sister does seem to be a source of scarlet rot "born" with it.
Yes, Heck YES! More of THIS! Great vid, keep up the great work!
margit's shackle reveal invisible walls, and it's range is actually pretty enormous, also you can use it to activate and de-activate the flame pillars in catacombs.
Elden Ring lore….Runsescape music outro. What an awesome thing to have!
Rykard similar to Ranni didn't want to be part of the golden order, that's why he fed himself to the snake. He wanted to get rid of the influence of the Elden Ring. It seems like all of Renalla's kids didn't want to be related to the golden order.
Thing that gets me is Morgott doesn't mention Mogh...the dude who's probably the biggest "traitor" of all. Also, anyone else find it weird that Morgott and Mogh share a divine tower?
I love this game, i can graps how much prestine quality contect it has and even though i feel greedy, it would make me so happy to have more, a DLC or many DLCs, im getting drunk and high on pure ELDR
I thought Miquella didnt had a great rune and thats why Malenia went off in search of a great rune and stumbled upon Radahn and his army.
Also, Ranni was said to hid her great rune. Her great rune could be hid in the literal MOON too as theorized by many.
I think Rykkard was upon to eat everyone, including his crazy family who wants to kill each other... so all can be TOGETHA AS SERPENT FAMILYyYY!!!
It's like that song "Why can't we be friend?"
Just discovered this cave while exploring the map yesterday. Got decently far into it but felt like it was taking me nowhere. Now that I see where it leads, definitely going to explore deeper. Don't care how under leveled I am.
Is that Runescape music I hear? Dang that's nostalgic. Great video as always!
There seems to be another tower outside of Farum Azula that doesn’t seem possible to reach yet, it’s on the west side in the water below
None could "bear witness" was the Easter egg I didn't know I needed in your script, but am so excited existed lol
Rychard did that to gain power to try and take on the greater will. He's got a plan like Ranni...just far more brutish. Create strong enough champions to eat and gain power and make them gain power by killing other tarnished going for the throne.
it might not be of any note, but all across Limgrave there are large pieces of a seemingly cylindrical structure just strewn about. They don’t seem to be from anything obviously at least, maybe they’re the ruins of Miquella’s tower?
morgott did lead a war against volcano manor using the capital's forces after the shattering. it wouldnt surprise me if he sealed it.
Godricks lineage is the Golden one, but through him you can get a measurement for time that passed since the shattering! Godfroy from the everjail is a father or grandfather to Godrick. But you see more of the aggression in Godfroy then in Godrick, because he has more of the power and force of Godfrey.
4:40 actually Godwyn’s influence spreads by the (death) roots and cause his facial features to come through. You will find his eyes in many deathroots
You can activate Mohg's and Morgott's great runes in the same tower.
I bet when we get Miquella's great rune, it'll be activated at the same tower as Malenia's great rune
My man, If the wall was invisible, it wouldn't be much of a trick. Illusory.
What?
@@agtjake dude has a point: if it's invisible, u can't SEE it. Alas, a illusory wall means that...it's a illusion. Just like the Gun's'n Roses Albuns. Heh.
OMG! The runescape background music! Lol.
Rykards hand looks like all the giant hands you fight in the game
Something i wish i knew sooner was ,You can have the serpents blade or sacrificial axe in your off hand then go back to 2 handing your main weapon for the buff . while also still replenishing health or fp. Stacks with the assassin talismans as well. This games beyond huge. I have over 220hrs and have only found half that stuff on my own heck even some of the quest I missed like hyetta n stuff like where tf was she hiding after irina quest lmao you will never discover everything on your own without some kinda help along the way from the community ,it's the dark souls way hah
3:18 Rykard probably was thinking that serpent is more powerful then great runes.
The snake allows for those whom are eaten to be brought into a whole. I THINK Rykard found out the serpent brings those it eats i to a whole and just bet his bloodlines power would allow him to be dominant once absorbed although he becomes obsessed with just getting power. I mean, he is immortal now but he isnt JUST Rykard, he's the snake too.
The RuneScape music in the background through me off Lmaoo
Bruh the grand exchange music from runescape in the beginning 😭
You've sold me! I'm now playing elden ring with the osrs soundtrack in the background 🤣
Ranni liked rykard. He Was her backup in the night of the black knives if her people failed to take the rune of death from maliketh it would have been up to rykard to finish the job.
Is it really love ? More like they are both allies against the Golden Order and the Two Fingers
There is another onyx lord up near rannis towers-evergoal fight
"Radagon will go on to be Queen Marika consort".
Remove consort.
Just the RuneScape song along got you a sub 😂😂😂
Rykard, Ranni, and Radahn are all very tight with each other with shared soldiers in each other’s territories and all being in on Ranni’s plan

I'm still on my first playthrough because I refuse to burn the Erdtree until I have explored the entire map to it's fullest. I'm waiting to kill the giant until I feel like I have made my way through every area so I don't miss anything. Starting a NG+ feels like I would be resetting my progress in exploration.
Same. I'm 140 hours in... And I still haven't killed Morgot.
I feel like personally, my first playthroughs are the ones that leave a lasting impression on me the most. It's like that spark of love and instead of burning it out hella quick, I wanna take my time and slow burn it. There's just too much content and I wanna experience all the hard work and details that FromSoft put in
also have you noticed that the towers are pointing towards the middle cloud on the map? xD
notice how he doesn’t name Mogh, his brother, as a traitor.
Also, Godwyn is Marika and Godfrey’s son. Godrick is a descendent of Godwyn. Several generations. “his divine blood is greatly diluted.”
Lol love that runescape shoutout XD
The Onxy Lord race reminds of the book reckless from Cornelia Funke. There is also a race that has skin of stone for example onyx.
I wish I would have done Elden Ring as blind as you did. I used the excuse that I don't have a lot of free time in order to look things up when I was lost. The times were very few and far between, but I missed out on some glory of finding a few things myself.
Miquella and Melenia probably share the isolated divine tower like how Morgott and Mohg share theirs
I didn't notice until I listened to the scene repeated in this video but why does Morgott consider Radahn a traitor? The way he says Radahns name clearly indicates a level of respect.
Margits shackle remove invisible walls in a larger range.
We also haven’t seen Ranni’s rune since her rune isn’t the rune of death.
Isn’t Ranni’s Great Rune also missing? Just because Ranni somehow discarded or lost it, but it can still be found.
Lol I’m in NG+4 because I missed Ranni’s Dark Moon spell (I had already done her ending but didn’t even know that spell existed). This game just keeps throwing stuff at the player.
6:21 Wasn't Miquella already inside the Haligtree when the elden ring was shatterd and henceforth was unable to obtain a great rune?
I've been very curious about the spike in Maria's gut.
rykard wanted to distance himself from gold order and go against every principle.. that is why hi feed himself to serpent and hunted tarnished who seeked elden ring
Dude, Marika shattered the Elden Ring with the fricken hammer Radagon uses against us. It's in the trailers.
I think twins all share the same tower like Mogh and Morgott
i dont think the divine towers are the elden ring, and we do see miquella's divine tower, its malenia's, twins share tower, morgott and mogh share the same tower, so it wouldnt be a leap to consider that miquella and malenia also shared one, also you are not having in mind the timeline, this towers are ancient, no one got great runes until the shattering, because they were part of the elden ring, they were all together, until marika shattered the elden ring was imprishioned and their children took the runes for themselves, or she gave them the runes
At least one person clearly had a great rune before the shattering, because Radagon gifted a rune to Rennala. I'm unconvinced that the others didn't already have their runes as well, but there's no explicit information I've seen one way or the other.
@@Eladelia there is no explicit mention of radagon giftin the great rune, only mentions of gifting the egg, the great runes are the elden ring, before the shattering they were together, removing one rune from the ring its a great deal, and the stuff of legends, the only removed rune mentioned its the rune of death, and it altered completely how the cycle of life worked, removing the great rune that is in charge of preventing birth defects in the people that are born would have altered also how everything worked
@@Necrotaku999 I think there's a real possibility that there's a distinction between actually removing a rune from the elden ring, and having the rune in a different location than the elden ring. The Elden Ring appears fully intact within Marika/Radagon at the end, in spite of the fact that it's still supposed to be in a shattered state.
@@Eladelia how? Removing a piece of the elden ring literally implies keeping it separated from.the elden ring, also they are the vessel.of the elden ring, they are broken because the ring its broken, you are basing your whole theory in a detail of enemy design that could imply it, while ignoring the whole damn plot
@@Necrotaku999 If you take it literally it implies physical removal, but if you take the word "ring" literally you'd be taking about an actual ring, not a set of symbols seemingly encased in a woman's torso. As I understand it, Rykard fed himself to the serpent bc, while he held out against opposing armies in volcano manor, he had disdain for the squabbling for power and didnt want to initially participate. He was just making sure he and his people stayed safe in his fortress. But the serpent, Eiglay (I think), convinced him that he could break the stalemate with the power he'd be afforded by letting the serpent eat him. Maybe I have some details off, I'm going off of memory, but I'm pretty sure that's the gist.
Snek: Yeah, dude... Just, you know.... Lemme eat you. It'll be cool, I swear.... How bout just a nibble first... And we'll see where things go
Brothers morgott and mogh share a divine tower so if we find miquelas great rune in future dlc we might just go to malenias tower
I think that Miquella probably shares a divine tower with Malenia because Mohg and Morgott share a tower
Given his name I would assume he fed him self to the serpent 🐍 in order to challenge the elden beast.
He was already supposed to challenge maliketh so it's fair to assume he would be after the ultimate burning 🔥 of not only the erd tree but the golden order in total.
I feel that miquellas great rune had been destroyed by mohg trying to raise him to godhood. Most likely miquellas great rune is beside melenias like morgotts and Mohgs.
You mean illusory walls? Invisible walls through me way off lol
Is that Runescape music you're playing at the end?
I wonder if Rykard will come back in some DLC or something. Apparently he is supposed to come back to life.
The RuneScape music 😭
Um was that RuneScape music at the end? Lol
It's the Runescape music that does it for me, fam.
Old school RuneScape music 🔥
I think Rykard fed himself because he had reached a level of power and capped out. Much like Godrick, he was desperate for more, and he knew what would happen if he was consumed: he was powerful enough to become one with the serpent and live forever.
6:10 I think that Mogh stole and corrupted Miquela rune
What are you doing Step Demi-God Bro?
My theory is they’ll introduce a dream world like Bloodborne to access miquella’s true form where you’ll fight a revamped/buffed Malenia & Mohg in maybe a duel boss fight or miquella makes malenia commit suicide so he can fuse with her
Holy crap that took way too long to realize rs music was playing. Unidentifiable nostalgia is crazy.
No godrick is of the golden line but a distant relation, no other info is in the gane I don’t think
Is this runescape music? My man!
Just a small point, godrick didn't take godwyns rune, as the runes were created after the shattering, which was more or less a direct result of godwyns death. But your points do make me re-evaluate my own running theories of the game, so please do keep pumping this content.
Rykard sides with Ranni's scheme against Godwyn
1:30 was that a wall? Looked like a

Also radahn was taught by an alabaster lord, not for nothing, but i know what you meant
I feel like no Emperyan had a divine tower devoted to them. Miquella is kidnapped by mogh for that fact that he is the best emperyan and i think only Ranni had a great rune of the emperyans, Ranni, Malaneia, Miquella
