HIKE TO LAGUNA 69 PERU | Lake 69 in Huascaran National Park | Huaraz, Peru

- After taking an overnight bus ride from Trujillo to Huaraz, Peru, we joined an organized tour to do a hike to Laguna 69, or Lake 69 Peru.
Laguna 69 Peru is located inside the Huascaran National Park, and this national park is one of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Peru. Huascaran National Park Peru is also a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve site.
The hike to Laguna 69 is quite strenuous, due to the high altitude of about 15,000 feet (4500m). We gained around 600-700 meters of elevation during our three-hour Laguna 69 trek.
Is Laguna 69 worth doing? We think so. Just maybe not twice. :-)

@@theRTWguys I saw all of your videos of this long trip to Peru but I did not find any videos about Peruvian food which is some of the best in the world. There are plenty of CZcams videos online for you check. As a matter of fact Peru have won for 8 years in the row the award for the best culinary destination in all the world competing with countries like France, Italy, Mexico, China and Japan. I wholeheartedly agree that Peru is beautiful. For outsiders, we expect desert and mountainous setting like Machu Picchu, but most of us never thought would find something like Laguna 69.

It meant to be positive. People would think Peru to be desert and ancient and beautiful cultures. Laguna 69 is another level of diversity that you don't expect to find in peru. 😀🇵🇪🦙
I agree with you. In that zone (Huaraz) there is another place, even more famous and less challenging called Llanganuco. I'm not sure if it's part of the same national park (Huascaran) but it is beautiful and, as I said, the hike is way less harder than the one to go to the lake 69.

Wow, you guys are having so many experiences with altitude. Reminds me when I was in Tibet. I'm way younger than you but you are dealing with it so much better than I did! There was puke involved :D But the view of that lake and unbelievable water would have pushed me to do this even if I was sick again. Thanks so much for sharing your awesome adventures!

Like you say it does seem like a pretty long day to only be able to hang out up there for 30 minutes or so, maybe the company could allow an hour up there so you can really get to enjoy it! The views on the way up are really beautiful. Hope you enjoyed the bumpy road back down and caught a few 💤😄

i mean the lake is stunning but looks like you guys really had to struggle to get there!! very tough looking hike, the friendly cows however did make me smile! Do you know how many people get to visit this lake every year? It looks so well maintained and preserved despite the obvious tourism interest in it.
Good point - not sure on the stats of the visitors per year. Although Laguna 69 is a popular place to visit, its location (and its difficulties to get here) prevents more people to visit. It is still pristine for sure!
