    Hi Tim,
    I have a SLC 500 PLC that is giving me an error with Slot 10 of Rack 2. I cleared the fault but I/Os are still faulted. Later, I went into power supply and it indicates an Overload power supply on Rack 1 error. I have 1746-P2 connected but the rack 1 indicates 1746-P1/P7 which is incorrect, do I need to change power supply type on the program? If so how do I do it?

    Hey I was wondering if you could help me I’m getting a rack data error and it’s telling me to check slot 2 i’ve backed up the programTurned off the power and made sure the card wasn’t loose then I also checked the contacts in the back everything seemed to look good but I can’t get the ball to clear it’s an old slick 500 series A 1746-A2 and my card is an input /output card

      @TimWilborne  Před 4 lety +2

      Have you changed out the module in question? That would probably be the first thing I would try.

      Tim Wilborne The problem is we don’t have one to replace it and it’s not manufactured anymore so what I ended up trying to do was going into I/O configurationsAnd switched the card from slot two the slot one And the problem followed now it’s telling me the errors in slot 1 so I know it’s the card but the company won’t get one but I found a spare PLC I’m just going to move around the inputs and outputs on it and adjust the program to make it work on that PLC

      @@codybristow13 This is probably going to be solved by swapping parts but since it moved, my next guess would be the chassis or power supply.

    Excellent advice!
    I think that the last time that I saw a Logix5000 fault was when a guy programmed his routine to access an array of pairs and he had n elements in the array and tried to access n+1. Blamo! (took down the paint line).

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  Před 4 lety +1

      @@saimmehmood6850 Not just the PLC ground but other equipment grounds on the machine. It is almost always caused by this. You could also try some surge suppression on the power to the Micrologix 1400 but this will just hide the root problem.

      Sounds like something is setting S:1/9 in your program. Do a cross reference on it. You can also find details the error number in S:6

    I have a ML1000BWA and it was working fine untill I had a Cheap USB adapter short out and kill my laptop while connected to my ML1000BWA. Sparks came from my USB port and the ML1000 instantly went into a red flashing LED. So I purchased a OEM USB cable adapter hoping there was no damage to my PLC. Connecting to the ML100BWA via the new cable and new laptop, I cannot establish communication with the PLC in order to clear the error. No comms are established even when using auto config. Just a steady flashing LED, So this unit is fried?

    Hello Tim. Trust you're doing great. I saw your very helpful video on how to hardreset SLC processors. I've got one stubborn one on my desk. It's new. And the flt led has been flashing. ITS NOT COMMUNICATING VIA SERIAL SO I CANT GET TO SEE WHAT THE FLT REPRESENTS. It's a Slc5/04 processor. I have hardreset countless times taking off memory module and batt and doing other sorts of combination. But it's still flashing red AND NOT STIKK COMMUNICATING . Please any help on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot

      20 years isn't an unusual life cycle for a PLC. You still troubleshoot it the same, see if the fault light is solid or flashing.
