- Last evening (7th October 2022) the Jamboree Jazz Club, Barcelona was swinging to the sound of Ignasi Terraza (piano), Carla Motis (guitar) and Queralt Camps (double bass) - the Ignasi Terraza Trio.
This sampler is 'Moonglow', a 1930's song composed by Will Hudson and Irving Mills.
From the Jamboree live stream.
Few pianists are as versatile as Ignasi Terraza. And yet one recognizes him immediately among many others. Moreover, he leaves plenty of room for other musicians to present themselves. That is what makes a top musician. Bravo.
It's always great to listen to this amazing pianist!!!
Carla is such a good rhythm guitarist. She is a human metronome.
A favorite song from my youth (and I'm old). played wonderfully!
I think Carla and Ignasi make a great combo!!!
Beautiful!
A great piano player. Love the sound of Carla’s guitar.
Love it!
Carla shows her best "Freddie Green", and, evolving from the melody line at 1:00, a beautiful harmonized solo(!) which has been rare, to my knowledge!
A quotation from a highly respected American music journalist who is co-admin of the group Friends of Sant Andreu Jazz band, a few minutes ago, which is so very true....:
"Thanks for recording this, Paul (I was hoping you would). What an enjoyable, relaxing evening that must have been. It seems every possible combination of SAJB musicians and their extended musical family have played on that stage through the years."
The Jamboree is a tiny basement Jazz Club in central Barcelona, much loved by jazz fans throughout the world and especially by the Sant Andreu Jazz Musicians! The atmosphere is amazing and a 'must' to visit, if you ever are in Barcelona!
Certainly on my bucket list!
Thank you very much Paul for another great videos.
Regarding the Jamboree, it is one of the most mythical clubs in the world, created no less than 62 years ago, to which I have never been, but I cannot die without doing so. Now that I'm about to retire, surely... 😉.
And a curiosity, the word "Jamboree" is from the Zulu language and means "meeting of tribes".
