Aaron Tveit (Grease Live!) pines over unrequited love during 'As Long as He Needs Me' from Oliver! at MCC's annual Miscast '16 gala. - Zábava
I'm a basic person I see Aaron and I click
sian rawlinson PREACH
You'll click on steadfastly as long as he needs ye. Me too haha
sian rawlinson I call that a genius. See Aaron and click? You know it's gonna be good.
I felt that
It kills me that he followed this a few minutes later with his epic “Take Me or Leave Me” duet with Gavin Creel.
Can we get a gender bent month of Broadway every year? Ramin Karimloo as Elphaba, Aaron Tveit as Glinda. Ben Platt as Nessarose. I think we all would pay money to see that.
YES.
Talia Krimsky hey talia 🙈🙈
Talia Krimsky i think it was six
Talia Krimsky yeah haha
Samuel Brown oh god so would I. But in these coronavirus times I will just pay to see anything
Oliver is so underrated as a musical, such a gem
If you live in the uk (especially southern England) it's probably the biggest, old time musical
In England its almost an unwritten law for school kids to know at least eight songs from this great musical!! Somewhere in any corner there you can here a little Olive or Oliver pleading "Where is love? And don't get them started on Fagin, he is universally adored no matter who sings the part!!
In the uk it’s a classic everyone knows the music
It won the best picture Oscar the year it was nominated back in the 1960's. 👍
Not really underrated. The motion picture of this musical did win the Academy Award that year for best picture.
Aaron needs to release an album/record of musical theatre covers, I am in love with his version of this song! ❤️
+Bethan Murray He kind of already did... Its called "The radio in my head"
+Josh Tanzer And it's fantastic, it's one of my favorite CDs that I own! Plus, it gives us that fantastic cover of "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together"! However, I agree that he should release another album of musical theatre covers, I would buy it the day it came out!
+Margaret Schafer he needs more albums lol
Can this man do anything wrong? Answer: no. No he can't.
+ShakespeareanWannabe: Well, he was flat at 3:06 "I'll cling ON" Just saying
+Mike Anderson nah, he was sharp 😊
+Nancy Stevenson mhmm he's a pretty sharp dresser😜😍
Too friggin' cute. A-dor-a-ble.
Aaron Tveit is the definition of talent. 👌👌👌
So is Monty Alexander.
wow wasn't expecting him to hit that high note at the end on 'need' but damn son he's got some freaking brilliant pipes hats off to him
@ThatGreenDayFreak I can't remember any C5s in the broadway version but the boston version of chandelier had him singing a C#5
@@tabithaokitsu3813 Yeah, he's definitely got a lot of additional range on top of this. He only goes up to an A4 here, which is super comfortable for a tenor (as demonstrated by how well he manages it and is also likely why he chose that key).
This is the first time I heard the song performed by a male artist and my heart is flooded by the feels! Mr Tveit! Bravo!
+icyhugs sammy davis junior who is a very old artist also did a very touching version of this song as well
Wow, I had forgotten about Sammy Davis Jr. having done this number. He killed it as well.
Just read your comment gene pitney done this song brilliant
I love that he has that classic musical voice. He's perfect :)
He belted the whole damn song, the fuck did you watch?
@@noahmoment I don't think they meant 'classical', just that he has the 'classic' Broadway bright tone and progressive vibrato
They should really release an album each year from this event! I'd listen the shit out of that!
YESYESYES
Please come back to Broadway soon. We miss you here. So good
I absolutely love this song. Not many people from this generation are familiar with this musical, but this is one of my favorites form Oliver! and Aaron (as usual) did it more than justice. Thank you for your passion, humility, and talent.
*from
Yeah. Oliver is amazing. I would be so nice if Aaron was in it.
I first saw the show back in 2008. I was still in grade school, lol.
One of my favorite musicals.
If you’re British/English you will have no choice but to be familiar with this musical
Aaron's Miscast performances are all so great and really showcase his range. Would totally buy a Best of Miscast album if one were available for purchase.
Aaron Tveit is my favorite person in the world. That is all.
+Natalie Kim he's my favorite person ever too
me to
his suit on him
I have watched this so many times it's unhealthy
I'm fairly certain I now need him...
Aaron is on another level.
This is sheer perfection 😢😢😢😢
Oh my god! He SLAYED this 😍
+Bellatrix 24601 u right
OMFG DON´T THINK ABOUT THIS AS AN ANSWER TO JEORGE BLAGDEN´S "I WILL FOLLOW YOU INTO THE DARK" DON´T ´M CRYING...DON´T
Now I've read that it's given me crazy E/R feels and I'm crying too...
+Manuela Beltrán Thenardier ......greeeaaaaaaat . now I'm having a fangirl attack
girls i just read a fanfiction and i´m crying like rally bad
you people do realise that this song is about an abused woman who convinces herself her husband still loves her... right???
Of course I know - i love oliver too - but taken out of context it can mean a whole variety of things
Aaron Tveit In a suit is my favourite sight to see
AARON TVEIT SHOULD TAKE THE KING GEORGE SPOT FOR THE NATIONAL TOUR
Yes!!!
He definitely should! However, he's busy with the new television show he's on, "Brain Dead".
HE SHOULD!
Not enough stage time!!! Although I love that character lol
I think Im gonna move to America ASAP
Aaron, you singing the words to this song is a gift to gay people. Thank You for taking the risk and showing pure honest love in every word you sang. When I'm on the baseball diamond, I like to dream of you being the short stop who is on first base while I wait for you at home plate as the catcher. Doing this song is a grand slam, my friend.
Dug Gaines that’s oddly specific
Oh gawsh. I was in Oliver! a few years ago and Nancy was such a fabulous character... And Aaraon Tveit sings this so beautifully.
Aaron, along with Steven Pasquale, are two of the best voices in musical theatre!
God this song is bleak. And beautiful. Wonderful performance. Made me hear the lyrics and emotions fresh.
I would give everything I own to be able to meet and sing a song with this man. my life would be complete
I can't even count how many times I've watched this video
What a beautiful take on this song!! I just discovered this performer! Wow! You just want to wrap him up and take him home!!!
Exceptionally fine reading of the The Codependent’s Anthem.
oh. OH.
😅🤣😂
He has such an amazing voice! Loved him in Les Miserables!
Ngl I think the only thing that saved the movie was Aaron and all the students
Watched this out of curiosity...and dang, there's something in my eye....
Aaron Tveit is such a talented and working- hard guy. I feel very sorry that he could not be famous. He deserves more popularity.
So so talented what a great voice he has
I'm crying his performance gets me everytime😥
All I can think of is Enjolras and Grantaire...
I had the same exact reaction and it fits SO perfectly and I love him for singing this just for putting this in my head....
..mood 😅
BRUH SAME
90% of the song he sings I just think of E/R now
Due respect, all y’all *ever* think of is Enjolras and Grantaire
Aaron Tveit is genuine perfection! I have listened to this song so many times and I can't find a fault with it! 😍
I did Oliver this year and just wow this is my favourite song from the show, and he did it justice 100%😍
Ah I love Oliver! I am in the play as a small role although This is my first play and I will always remember this song as something more than a song
So seeing this made me happy!
It's always a delight to watch and listen to Aaron sing. He is the consummate singer!
one word.... TALENT
EXCELLENT. About time a man sang this song about another man.
I know right? I’m so sick of ‘as long as *she* needs me’
@@imnotacat3798 LOL, tell me about it
Omg why is he so perfect my heart is dying from the feels.
This song is so beautiful, and him singing it makes it even more so.
Amazing! 💜
such a totally gorgeous performance of this song! Aaron is amazing.
I can't speak for anyone else, but as a child, I loved the hell out of this song the first time I heard it. Same as "What's the Use of Wond'rin'" from Carousel. And so many others. I wonder if gays are so used to being told (either subliminally or straight to our faces) that they are not worthy of love or even of living that I latched onto songs like this. The whole idea that no matter what he does, I will love him, in the hopes that the same is true for me. Just thinking when I should be going to sleep, LOL.
Oh my God, this is so beautiful!!!!
Well, that was just breath taking. WOW!
this is making me cry, again. just what i needed on a tough night. i love his voice, and this song is so so so empowering in its tragedy
Absolutely beautiful!!!
Such a great song
Made me cry, best version I have heard for a long long time
OMG!!! This song is totally about Enjoltaire!
perfecto
Lara hum...no. I actually read the book many and many time and Enjoltaire simply don't Exist! There is only Enjolius or Enjolferre
Maz___C! Enjolferre needs to be a bigger thing 😍
Wow, this is incredibly moving! Thanks for posting it!
superb in every way
BEAUTIFUL!!!! what a wonderful poetic voice
I truly believe Aaron can belt anything
Always blown away by his voice... So perfect, lovely. Gives me chills. Aaron, you are a gift!
Superb performance from the heart.
Such a smooth voice. ♪
One of my favorites!!!! Grew up watching this musical....
Aaron is so precious I love him so much aw
Oooh, those chills!
Oh Aaron, you’re wonderful!!!❤️
Deeply moving!!!
You are marvelous Aaron Tveit!
Very well done, and with new levels of meaning....quite moving, really.
AHHHHHH BRILLIANT!!!!! :D ♡♥
Gorgeous.... simply sung and every word considered.... brilliant
Masterclass performance
A LEGEND....and so young.
He is GREAT!!!!!!
The best little Broadway Baby there is!!
Suddenly I find myself crying. What a moving performance.
chills chills chills
The love of my life!!! 😍❤😍
Beautiful boy so cute thanks for the video thanks so much 😍😍😍
Wow! What a performance - Garland would be proud of him, following her magnificent tradition.
I love this song and intend to add it to my repitoire now that I've heard the great Aaron Tveit sing it so beautifully and powerfully. Bravo! 4:33
Brilliant !
Not about "unrequited love." It's about compulsory love for those that need you by those that can do it. Not easy. Universally misunderstood. Rare.
Wow, this really works as a gay man in love with a closeted man... circa 1965.
Yes, the song takes on an entirely new level of meaning--it works so well.
"the love i feel inside the love I have to hide"
Amen, brother. Amen. Oh, the feels...
Or a gay man in love with his straight best friend.
or me with thus guy I'm seeing lol things don't change 1965-2017 guys or girls better said I totally agree with you
Amazing
Bravo!
As long as he needs me
Oh, yes, he does need me
In spite of what you see
I'm sure that he needs me
Who else would love him still
When they've been used so ill?
He knows I always will
As long as he needs me
I miss him so much when he is gone
But when he's near me
I don't let on
The way I feel inside
The love I have to hide
The hell! I've got my pride
As long as he needs me
He doesn't say the things he should
He acts the way he thinks he should
But all the same
I'll play this game
His way...
As long as he needs me
I know where I must be
I'll cling on steadfastly
As long as he needs me
As long as life is long
I'll love him right or wrong
And somehow I'll be strong
As long as he needs me
If you are lonely
Then you will know
When someone needs you
You love them so
I won't betray his trust
Though people say I must
I've got to stay true, just
As long as he needs me
She empowers herself to be beaten to death. "Oliver!" is *really* not a show for children.
Thank you
Broadway perfection.
I need him.
one of my favourite songs and one of my favourite actors??????? sign me u p
i started crying when he sang the first word
I see Aaron Tveit, I click
first line and i was in tears
not changing pronouns 👏👏👏
The original pop recording did and it was very successful. The song works either way.
It's great he doesn't. But that's the whole point of Miscast anyway, isn't it.
Just so moving, sung with such sincere feeling.
It’s not in a sexual context. Oliver is a child
@@eeman0201 its on about bill not oliver
now im crying
CURRENTLY DYING ☹️😭❤️
I remember seeing Shani Wallis do this at the Playboy Club in 1971. After seeing Aaron it, it makes ever-so-much-more sense to me emotionally.
Although, I might add, David Burnham could do this better....
I LITERALLY JUST CLOSED AS NANCY OH MY GOD THE LOML SINGING THIS SONG HOLY SHIT
That's such a high key
I DID THIS PLAY AT MY SCHOOL AND IVE NEVER CLICKED SOMETHING SO FAST I LOVE OLIVER AND AARON OMGEKJRHFKJNEV
