    I first started with 3 of these guys in my old 5 foot long 125 gallon tall. I also later put 2 in a 10 gallon tank before upgrading those to a 46 gallon bowfront a month later and adding 3 more. 2 of the 3 roselines in my 125 died during an ammonia outbreak which left one of those roselines alone for a couple months. Once things stabilized in the 125, I didn’t feel like buying more (they’re not cheap) so I grabbed the 5 out of my 46 gallon and put them into the 125 to join the lone large one. Been keeping them in schools of at least 5 ever since.

    I have been keeping a school of these guys in my 180gallon high flow "pseudo-hillstream" planted tank. This video is very interesting and as an "experienced" aqua culture hobbyist / fish nerd but not expert or anywhere near(although I am perusing a degree in biology so many one day haha!) Just wanted to thank you and let you know that your research / fact collecting and the subsequent put together in this video is really in depth but in a very digestible and approachable way!!
    I'm curious as to your background ! Have you ever done any schooling in biology or are you just a very well versed and well research hobbyist?
    I know for a lot of experienced and expert people that those 2 may eventually coincide - albeit the hobbyist into "expert" that is acknowledge by academia or directly involved with research is much more rare of a case than the kid who loved seeing the fish tank in the biology class or going to an aquarium perusing a degree in fish.
    Also from the looks of your tank, you definitely enjoy a more natural look but do you theme any specific way or do you just take home what fish and plants you know can work together and just enjoy?

    • @TerryL263
      @TerryL263  Před 4 lety +4

      Let me start by saying that was the nicest compliment I have ever gotten. My background starts in 1972 with my first tank. There was no internet so I read a lot of books some of which were pretty damn good and taught me a lot. The tank in this video was simply a grow out tank for them and if you want to see them now go to my channel and look at the latest video " i year update on the filament barbs". I have moved my denison barbs to a 6 foot tank with dawkinsia that are found with them in the wild. Oh and I am no expert.

    First things first you telling about the background and history a out the fish in detail is what makes you special and different from other fish CZcams channels, so yeah don't apologise that much,
    Infact the only reason why i am subscribing to you channel after this video is because I am expecting more details and research done by you to tell the history and details about the fish hope you get it and continue ❤

    I have 5 denisons in my 4ft tank for 3 years. They look cool but I find them to be skittish when I am moving close to the aquarium.
    if I am cleaning in the tank they can dart and sometimes hit the glass so I hate doing tank maintenance. But if I am standing away from the tank they are fine.
    I will be getting some calmer fish to hopefully make the barbs feel secure as they are the only fish in my tank at the moment. But after my experience I do not want anymore of these fish unless I have a 6ft+ tank
