You seriously did not see this coming? You drugged her, cut her main mode of mobility off, left her in the woods, just so you could ascend the throne, and you are surprised that she shows up pissed.
There's whispers on the internet that the whole cutting of wings part was a metaphor for King Stefan raping Maleficent. Gives the movie a disturbingly serious tone.
K I know I'm 3 months late, but damn, with that metaphor, things just got so deep bro.
And along with that got married and had a baby

@@SirKolass They're probably just trying to link things Disney may have incorporated from the Brother Grimm's version of Sleeping Beauty. The animated one, while it was also based from the Brother's Grimm version, it was very... 'Disney fairy-taly'. This movie (Maleficent), since it has a darker and more mature tone, actually carries a bit more of the narrative it was based on. If you know anything about the Brother Grimm fairy tales, you'll know they're anything but that.

You mean Lana Parrilla? It's true that she's great as the Evil Queen, but I don't think she'd be a good Maleficent. The Evil Queen (from OUAT) is brutal and merciless whereas Maleficent (from this movie) has a finer touch. Both are fantastic characters but are completely different.

***** I think that because it was a movie, it was incredibly rushed. I mean, let's say Maleficent is... 40 by the end of the film. We meet her when she's around 8-12. That's 25+ years this movie covers that we don't get. If this was a tv show, we would've gotten a lot more backstory in my opinion. But I loved this movie, I've seen it like 4 times already.
I didn't think it was rushed at all.
I watched it once. It was SO EPIC! In my opinion, it's even better than the original "Sleeping Beauty".

What I love most about this scene is how well it is similar to the scene in the original Disney movie. Jolie successfully and effortlessly took the full role of the original Maleficint, I love her so much ❤

Nah, I hated the way they took this version. After getting metaphorically raped (having her wings cut), I was hoping they'd explore more of that. Instead, we get a cliche as fuck "motherly love wakes up the sleeping beauty up", and she ends up getting back her wings anyway. You'd think we had enough of that in Frozen. They really downplayed her character. In the original, she was actually menacing. Hell, her literal name 'Maleficent' means evil. It's one thing to explain the backstory of the villain, it's another to make her the protagonist. Disney pussied out.
@@enlosluceros7236 That's what makes most real life "villains" though - an unfortunate back story. I think it ads realism and depth to the character and the whole story. And it's not just the basic "Bad guy is bad, and gets what he deserves in the end because he's bad." which is fine, but it's kind of an overused and cheap storyline imo.
Chills. The woman gave me chills and all she said was..."Oh dear". Granted she followed with "what an awkward situation", but it is that look on her face when she says "Oh dear"...that actually made the hairs on the back of my neck to stand! If she is this good all the way through, then it would not surprise me if a certain 'nod' may come into play!
She was like "And now I'm going to make your day worse."
Funny, I had the opposite effect. I saw her acting like a child making unnecessary noises and giggling when it wasn't necessary. Child like behaviour to me gets me irritated and makes me roll my eyes.

That was my favorite right there, gives me the chills but I howled with laughter - GUFFAWED when she did the mocking whimper with that "OH"- DAMN!!! That was PERFECTION!! SERIOUSLY!!!

This scene was the best scene in the movie and while I liked the film I would have preferred if they continued with the feel and look of this scene throughout the movie. It would have been one of the best villain movies yet.

This is better than office politics.' Each only taking the other ones measure. See the movie - A little chaos or The Dressmaker with Winslet. Just to switch it up.

The way she just...so effortlessly commands your attention is amazing. Her pacing and tone and subtle facial expressions just-ugh-so breathtaking. I admire Angelina Jolie so much

In the original, is it just me, or did Aurora's mother sound like a man. It sounded like a man doing a woman's voice. I mean there nothing wrong with it, if it was a woman with a man's voice or a man doing a woman's voice..just what am saying is..the voice they cast didn't fit the image..felt out of place.

Pure evil is easy, though. Easy to write, easy to play. Granted, a villain doesn't need to be an anti-hero, but having complexities that define WHY the character is evil, or at least how that character justifies their actions, makes it much better. Most evil people tend to believe they're doing what's right in some twisted way.
If this was a short that tackles the backstory of maleficent, it would have been Better than just making her the "good guy". Am i right?

This is by far my favorite Angelina Jolie scene. The sarcasm she emotes here is so perfect. She knows she's (rightfully) superior, none of them have any power over her, and she decided long ago that her revenge would be to toy with them until she got bored or someone escalates the situation.

My favourite scene in the whole film
Angelina's role as maleficent was pure brilliance and very captivating. I could not keep my eyes off of how stunning she looks in this scene. It's the same captivating feeling I got when watching Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman in Batman Returns. If there was ever a sequel to that movie or perhaps a better version then Haley Berry's weak performance in Catwoman...I would LOVE to see Angelina Jolie as Catwoman. She fits the part perfectly after watching this. 🐾
