  • Getting Ready for Take-Off and I experience an engine failure. Determine the cause if fuel starvation from the Main Fuel Pump switch not activating consistently.
Come up with a Plan of Action (POA):
    1) Aux Fuel Pump Stays ON
    2) Don't poop pants
The video is consolidated to leave out cruise periods, and excess footage.

Dude. you bossed that issue like a pro. You've not even got your PPL yet and handled that like a pro. You are CPL material. Go ALL the way ! You're attention to detail, and running the checklists is 100%.

How did you know it was ok to fly after the engine failed? Seems risky for someone who is new.

During a previous flight I heard a story of another student claiming the fuel pump on this particular aircraft wasn't working. Since it wasn't replicated they dismissed it. But I had that in my head. First thing I thought, the toggle switch contact point is likely dirty, or the switch is loose.
I played with the switch, it didn't seem loose. As a guitar player, I know how these switches gunk up inside and can create a barrier between the contact surfaces. Rubbed the switch hard on and off and could hear the whir of the fuel pump when it was placed ON.
From then on, just doing the checklist again and ensuring fuel pressure didn't drop. Either way, I had an alternate pump which stayed engaged in circuit.
