Remember that the orchestra of the Hong Kong Peninsula played a French tune ( think it was La Madelon) each time I visited for the traditional five o'clock tea.

How beautiful it was to see how things used to be and how far this hotel chain has come.
they just forget to mentioned that you can barely breath there without irritating your nostrils and that after few minutes your eyes also starts getting irritated reddish and burning from the horrible pollution, the sky is always grayish even in strong hot weather because of the polluted thick fog in the air. Oh yes, do not even bother to wonder about freedom for the majority of the local population.
What a wonderful documentary, and what an impressive heritage the Kadoories have. It was a joy!

@@djcorvette8375 It is a verifiable fact that the Kadoories were NOT involved in the opium trade. This business was monopolised by Jardines and later the Sassoons.
Opium was sold at pharmacies legally in the late 1800s and early 1900s in many countries.
