I'm guessing that the majority of boatowners have more means at their disposal than you guys have. What's really encouraging to us is that you are demonstrating the ability to have your dreams come true with humble means.
I had never thought about how the negative comments might affect you, even if only 10%. Just remember the other 90% love you and support everything you do. You are conquering the things that might make you uneasy, you push through, you know your limits, and I truly respect you for doing what 99% of people only talk about doing. That is all 😊.
I hate negative people and not sure what purpose it would be for someone to be negative to what you are doing....but also not surprised. Keep your head's held high
Great questions - glad you did the Q&A. The only question I have is why you haven't refinished the mahogany wood on the exterior? Here's to having the best cruising weather for the remainder of the trip.
That was a wonderful video. You are doing a great service to your viewers, not only on the experience of 'The Loop' but the costs of boat life , not only financially but mentally. Your power through attitude is inspiring.
Miss living in Chicago. I lived in the closest of the two black clover shaped buildings at 18:21 in the video. Just loved constantly looking out over the lake. Love the videos and your adventures!
I'm jealous of your youth and spirit of freedom. Moving on to another vessel beyond Pivot will definitely be an adventure. Your content, editing, and presentation are professionally executed. It's so good. I do wonder how changing out the comfortable backdrop of Pivot will change the formula. Will the magic be the same?
Glad you have set a “Goal” out of the whole trip! I think your persistence is commendable! I understand your feeling about the negative comments! I feel if you don’t have something positive to say you should say nothing! In your can I only commend you on following the ups and downs of a great adventure! The downs and frustrations only make the great times greater! Keep it up!
Thanks for the rehash of what the loop has been like for you. I fully understand your wish for a boat with the ability to go faster -- I would go bonkers doing the loop at 6 or 7 knots. I like to cruise a max of 5 hours a day, and want to make around a 100 miles a day. You have to spend long, tedious days at the helm to get just 50 miles from where you started. On a 6,000 mile trip where you want to spend lots of time ashore exploring, that doesn't work well.
Awesome video! My wife and I both watched. Loved… 1. 10 hours per 20m video. I think y’all must have 10 cameras plus drones. Plus a large format Canon. I know you have a vid on the photography somewhere. 2. That you derived much of your income stream from CZcams. I thought 10k subscribers was really just the start of that curve? I’ll have to look it up again. 3. We loved the part about must have 2 agrees on the weather to depart. We are same by experience. We had a 25kt day on the Pamlico Sound once. Only needed once. 4. Y’all really hooked me a year ago with the video on re-coring the decks. That is serious expensive boatyard work and you did it. I’m still in awe. Cruising is fun, but the courage you show in boat work is impressive. 5. No radar is impressive. It’s a good tool for the fog and dawn/dusk. Not essential, but helpful. Your fog video was a little unsettling for me, but your practice was per the manual. Really appreciate the amount of time that goes into your editing. It shows. You’ve really created a great legacy for you and your family and the boating/trawler community. Thanks for all your hard work!
I really enjoyed this video. I wondered how much time you put into the creation of each video. Doing that is as much work as doing the Loop is. You guys are amazing. You are enjoying and experiencing life to its fullest.
Everyone life is different, to tell you that you are doing it wrong, is wrong. All I can advise is learn form it and continue to grow and do what YOU are doing. Love you three and Keep moving forward! and I wonder if one relay has done what you are doing.
Hi there! I hope you have a great visit in Chicago!!! The city has so much to offer. That was the best Q&A presentation we've seen. You got through a lot of questions and presented them in a way that tied everything together, which made for a cohesive and interesting show. Have a great ride through the city and we look forward to the rest of your loop! Hug Olley for us and Fair Winds 🐶⛴
Congratulations on reaching Chicago. I am really looking forward to the remainder of your looping as it will be all new to me. You are very sensible boaters and value your safety first. Love you guys.
I have a lot of fun following you on your adventure. I have a lot of catching up to do to be up to date. When I was younger, I had a boat and the passion is still there!... I'm from the Montreal region in Canada where the bodies of water are very pleasant too. Keep it up guys!
So glad you guys made it. I was just in that area last weekend. It is so nice to head to in the warmer months. Hopefully the rivers provide some interesting fun.
You you two are my kind of people. I've only have done fresh water boating, but did it for 45 years or so. The people who sent you nasty comments are people who have no ambition or live in mommy's basement on her computer and is unemployed. I've always wanted to do what you are doing. But life and having kids gave me different priorities. But all of my family are grown and are boaters. Don't let the jealous deadbeats get to you. Yeah I'm jealous lol, but in a good way. I don't know about your past. But I have a friend I have been chatting with for 15 years. She lives in Australia and sends me pictures she and her husband and son have gone. If you haven't been there, I sure recommend it. So much different stuff there that isn't anywhere else. Challenges. Life is dull without them. You can get good at anything with practice. You didn't let them get to you, you conquered them. If you weren't that type of people, you wouldn't have done what you have done. I know whatever you decide to do next, you will overcome any challenges. So I'll get off my yappy self off. Have a great day.
Should you ever do the great loop again make sure you plan enough time to explore the western shore of Lake Michigan. So many great ports and towns along the Wisconsin side. Also you need to explore the shore line of Lake Superior. Lake Michigan and Superior is the extent of my boating and after 20 years I’m still finding interesting places to explore. Also thinking of doing The Great Loop and thinking about a Ranger Tug (43) for the adventure Thanks for sharing
Great video!! It is too bad that some people use the veil of anonymity to be a goof ball. Our limbic part of our brain for safety reasons is always looking out for danger--that is why the negativity gets stuck to us like a burr on our pants leg. It has been found we need 10 positives for every negative. I always think those people are the one's sitting by a keyboard and not out there taking the risk! Cruise on! And Tyler and I hope since you saw the Rosborough at the Fall Rendezvous that you would consider her as a great pocket trawler for your future. We just got back from doing three and 1/2 weeks up in the North Channel, and as far east as Obstacle Island. Just a 10 hour drive up I-75, putting in at the wonderful boat ramp of St. Ignace, for a seasonal boat ramp charge of $50. for the month to keep the truck and trailer. Its all good! Keep on living and loving and pivoting! Change is the only constant! Peace and love, Tyler and Jessie.
Hi guys, absolutely loving your journey so far. I think I’ve convinced my wife that we should do this in a few years. I had a question regarding g the timing of your CZcams videos. It seems like the videos are about 8 months delayed? Is that on purpose or due to the time it takes to edit and post or a combination of both?
Hey guys, love your videos and your adventures. My wife and I talk about doing the loop some day but one of the things that keeps coming up is what we would do for health insurance if I quit my job. I retired from my first job after 27 years but had to get another job so that we would have health insurance. I'm curious what you guys do for health insurance. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks
Thanks Frank! We purchase healthcare online at healthcare.gov , they have tax subsidies and a lot of different options which are very comparable to employer plans!
Man I wish I'd known you were putting this one together. I'd love to know some of the dog specific concerns and compromises. I hope to do the same trip somehow, someday, and can't imagine not taking my best boy with me. Clearly you have no regrets having Ollie on board, but what are some of the difficulties?
Hey Don! We will do another QA sometime soon-ish but happy to answer any specific dog questions you have. We also wrote an article specifically on Ollie and the boat so you might find some info there! schoandjo.com/full-time-cruising-with-a-dog-on-americas-great-loop/

Oh thats super cool!
All of this makes great sense - especially your comment on Dooher’s Bakery!

Thanks for commenting on the batteries, glad they are working out.
I have to run and get my granddaughter, but will come back to watch.. Love your series, and envious of your adventure. :)
Good luck, thanks for watching Bert 😁

I'm sorry that you have received rude comments. Your determination to do the loop and film it is admirable.
Thanks Glen!
You have one vote for a Ranger Tug, that is what I personally would want for looping and or exploring Americas water ways.
They're great!
Since finding your channel I’ve enjoyed catching up and skipping around y’all’s videos. Watching y’all learn how to live the boat life is awesome!
Thanks!
You are both so inspirational and I can relate on so many feelings ….thank you so much for being transparent …..
It's so fun watching you during your journey. Have fund stay safe. One day will be our turn do do the great loop !

Wow, sounds like a fantastic trip y’all had! Absolutely, Rosboroughs are on the pocket trawler list after seeing y’all’s 😁 ❤️
Awesome video. Have been following since your first attempt. Look forward to seeing you finish.
Very interesting. I'm happy you enjoyed your 🇨🇦 experience!
Look at the island packet 439
Oh yes! The cost of maintaining a boat! Yeesh. Pivots baby sister is definitely a sometimes high maintenance gal!
Another great episode, thank you.
Very informative video, well done!

What was cost of fuel for 3k miles
19:28 Tugboat? What kind again?
A ranger tug!
😍😍😍😍
Are you able to 🚫 haters who comment on your CZcams channel?
Yes! I like to give people second chances unless its really egregious though 😅
Hehe
200 days and 3000 miles of ocean, rivers, locks, bays, and Great Lakes makes you NOT NEW boaters! Most boat owners have much less experience.
No, you’re not experts but you are now experienced boaters
Congratulations
