    Thank you for the circlip position we were doing a top end last weekend and that was one of our sticking points

    this 144 is going to rip. Thomas is one lucky man!!! Love to see him get his hands dirty on this build though.....

      He will. The timing has just been off so far. He will be putting it back together for sure.

    I don't even have a YZ125, yet Here I am.

    Ball hone a Nikasil coated cylinder? I thought that was a big no no. Do you measure the deck height on the YZ like we do the KTM's to get as close to zero or slightly below flush as possible?

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  Před 3 lety

      That is a huge argument about the honing but I always do. If the coating is in good shape, all it does is de glaze it and put a crosshatch in it. If the coating is in bad shape it will peel it up and you can catch it before you put it back together. No on the deck height. You don’t get a hole bunch of gaskets for YZ’s like the KTM’s. This kit came with 2 but normally they don’t. I think this had 2 because one was a metal gasket for higher compression motors.

    Are those gaskets different thicknesses like KTM ‘s. Do you think measuring the squish band clearance is worthwhile to do.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  Před 3 lety

      No, these aren’t different like the KTM. I honestly don’t think it’s all that important for normal riders. It takes a very sensitive and good rider to tell the difference in performance

    Only one mistake...you didn't initial the top of the piston! Lol

    How likely is it that a warn cylinder gasket can cause major loss in compression? Doing a top end now, after my cylinder comes back. Had 65 psi on it after 15 minutes on a track warm up.

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  Před 3 lety +1

      Which gasket? The base gasket can cause some loss but not normally that much. The head gasket is more likely to do that.

      @@highlandcycles the base gasket was as my biggest concern. But come to think of the head orings felt stretched out

    What is the difference between the metal gaskets and paper gaskets ?

    • @highlandcycles
      @highlandcycles  Před 3 lety

      The durability. Metal gaskets can handle more heat and force from compression
