  • In this video I take a break from wrenching on the 55 Chevy to swap the intake manifold on my 71 Chevy Nova. I switched out the Holley single plane for an Edelbrock Performer RPM. It should give me more off idle response and be behave better in traffic. Let me know what you think of the video.

The reference point on the firewall is a good place but you can also mark the body of the distributor in reference to the rotor. Use tape or a marker. That way when you sit the distributor back in referencing the firewall mark you then line up the marks on the housing to the mark you made on the rotor and tighten it back up and your timing will be perfect. NO need to even check it with a timing light. Thats assuming your timing was correct to begin with..lol

You are right on about the power curves. I swapped out an old edelbrock tarantula open plenum style. On a 406 too a RPM. And drivability was much improved.

When you installed the distributor cap back on and where the rotor was point did you plug that as your number 1 cylinder to fire or did you just put it cap with the plugs back on and installed them where they were as the firing order just wanna make sure cux i got rpm intake also and i dont wanna mess something up with my timing?

I've seen some dyno tests that basically say a duel plane intake is best for a street driven car...I run the edelbrock air gap myself.

What kind of heads are you installing the intake on? This makes a big difference in order not to have any leaks
