40K has some of the richest lore of any fictional universe. What I love about 40K unlike other scifi with similar ambition in scale is that 40K leans into the space magic and fantasy rather than just trying to explain it away as "advanced tech". As dark and serious as some aspects are, 40K doesn't shy away from it's own absurdity. It's both a great drama and a self parody. I don't dislike good science fiction but I personally find an open embrace of fantasy elements more pallatable than pseudo-science. I believe much of this is inspired by Dune although 40K isn't afraid to take from a variety of genres and epics, with the orks and Eldari being perfect examples of this.
I love how the Tyranids are fed to us as an inevitability, unstoppable, they will eventually devour all, and yet in decades they haven't had a single canonical meaningful victory
You're a hell of a lore Master. Just think how powerful you could be if you focused all your efforts into being the top iterators, your name be whispered in the same breathe as Luetin, Oculus, Baldermort and Majorkill...
As much as I love my beautiful bugs...GW seriously wrote themselves into a corner with them. If we go strictly by lore and capabilities of Tyranids...they win. At the end of the day the nids will win no matter what any faction does. It would take the complete cooperation of every other race to stop the entire swarm.
I'd agree in some ways. But in reality, as far as power scaling goes. Once the Necrons fully awaken; if they all join together again instead of resorting to factions. They alone are overkill to every other race including the Tyranids. And that's because the only big surprise left for nids is actually revealing its overmind. Whereas, the Necrons are written as such, that their litteral strongest units and weapons are still asleep. What the Necrons muster at the current moment is enough to enslave gods. That's my thoughts on it though.
