In case anyone was wondering, Travis Touchdown is not only based on Johnny Knoxville, but also a modern samurai, hence the red appearance as his default, while Henry is a modern templar. So regardless of the attire you choose for Travis, during the fight with Henry, the game forces you into the default clothes, which is the red jacket. This is to drive home the whole Samurai vs. Templar symbolic meaning.

God, I love that monologue from Travis while fighting Death Metal. He fantasizes about this life of luxury, but ultimately admits it's hollow, recognizes the futility and absurdity of the struggle to reach it, but can't quit. He's trapped, he knows he's trapped and starts desperately trying to find an exit.

The Paradise and no exit themes come back in the final cutscene for the book end. It's so fucking corny and I love it.

I loved the ending cutscene to Holly Summers. Travis gave her a proper burial and that made me happy.
In NMH III, you’re able to go to that same beach. There’s some sort of buoy in the same spot Holly was buried.
For those wondering, the reason why he did not attack the "Naughty Girl" boss when she fell down is because it's a feint, if you attack her, it will be a one shot counter, so be a gentleman AND LET HER GET THE HELL UP, else you will have to do this fight again. Basically the animation for it is her death scene, minus the bleeding out, and more with you screaming in pain.
As far as I know, the second time she did it out of the four WASN'T a feint. If she keeps one hand on her bat, she's setting up for the instant kill. If, however, she takes her hand OFF the bat, she's really crying, and you're safe to wail on her.

The moment Travis' inner dialogue began during the Death Metal fight was the moment I knew I'd be finishing this game.
It was then Travis started to realize....he's in over his head and its too late to back out.
Little did Travis know...the life of luxury would NEVER be his life. Instead he'd have a wife and child he abandons and would be known as the legendary assassin
He actually took over death metals house and lived there with his wife and kids before he left

One of the best games on WII, the gameplay, the story, the plot twist along the game, damn man, we need another no more heroes.
This game is awesome, and was my first mature game purchase at a legit age.

Thunder Ryu sure was a great guy. Too bad he lacked the skill to step a few feet aside so he had to die to the slowest most stationary weapon with an effective attack of about 2 meters before she has to rebuild everything too aim again
I really like how you hear the main theme literally on all the levels(albeit remixes) but the second you start a boss fight it's something new

@@thebeastfromwithin3024 While Suda was directing Chainsaw, he wasn't really the writer for it as that was James Gunn's job. Lollipop Chainsaw doesn't have the complex narrative and unique gameplay that Killer7 has since Suda fully wrote Killer7 himself along with Shinji Mikami

Can't believe it's been 10 years. Time does fly. This and NMH 2 were my favorite hack and slash games on Nintendo systems until I recently played the Bayonetta series on Switch.

On the first boss, I got him into a stunlock for a while before deciding that it wouldn't be very fun and I stopped.
Just beat this game on the switch, way ahead of it's time.
That whole part with LetzShake, so hype, but the letdown is real. Yeah, we got the fight in NMH2, but without the German hypeman it just wasn't worth it.
Jeez, Imagine if they do a fighting game with these characters...

I've only just noticed this... but the "Scouting Scope" that Letz Shake's assistant has basically looks like a Virtual Boy in design.
Good job not falling for Bad Girl's bait, although when she's crying if she has both hands on her eyes its safe to beat on her, if she has one hand on the bat its a bait. She also doesn't exclaim "fuck" when she's genuinely crying.

I think I can see some resemblances to real life characters in some of these bosses. Like, Death Metal is essentially Keith Richards, Dr. Peace is Jesse McCree and Frank Sinatra's love child, DestroyMan's basically an Incredibles reject, Bad Girl is Harley Quinn, and I think Dark Star was sort of based upon the Darknut enemies from the Zelda games
Destroyman is based in Josh Barnett.

Dope thing about the "Bad Girl" boss fight. When she knocks the dominated sex slaves at you; if you time it right you can deflect them back at her. Doing damage and having less players on the field.

Deathmetal represents the lack of joy that is to come from Travis continuing his path as an assassin, as though Travis considers what DM has to be "Paradise" DM says it to be the opposite due to what he's lost and the emptiness of what he's gained
Dr. Peace is the opposite side of Deathmetal as he acknowledges all he's lost including his family's love, but still encourages Travis to go down his path as he does not regret his career.
Shinobu is a shadow of Travis as it's another young person trying to reach the very top of the assassin ladder, she represents Travis's honour (a typical samurai trait) as she demands to be killed after losing, but Travis views her as unequal, and spares her.
Destroyman is an opposite to Shinobu as he represents cowardice, as he tries to bait Travis 3 times, first with asking Travis to turnaround, taking advantage of Travis's kindness, second asking him for a handshake taking advantage of Travis's honour, and the third time beginning for mercy, though travis does not sympathise with him anymore, and cuts him in half.
Holly is the point where Travis starts realising he cannot hold back when fighting if he's really intending to be number one, as she tells him the rule that assassins must die when they lose, she is the only assassin Travis shows remorse for killing, and burries her with honor. Holly is the most blunt as she directly asks Travis his thoughts on death and is contempt with killing herself to prove to Travis the ramifications of the game he's playing.
Letz Shake has no purpose other than introducing Henry.
Harvey represents the vanity and fame that Travis can achieve by being a top ranked assassin.
Speedbuster is the only one I can't remember clearly, I think she's supposed to prop Travis up, as she says she hopes Travis can live up to Thunder Ryu before she is killed.
Badgirl represents Travis's ultimate grind. She has anger issues and it's implied she's looked down upon by others, most likely for her looks (representing a sex worker) and the depravity of being an assassin. Her grind parallels Travis's grind, as outside of the ranking battles, Travis still has to work in order to compete, he still goes through a constant grind in order to complete his task.
Jeane is Travis's stepsister, it's easy to despise Jeane because you play as Travis throughout the game and experience his character and Jeane killed Travis's parents, ultimately opposing them. Due to this dynamic (and the fact that you have to slow down her speech to her her backstory) it's easy to see her as a villain. However, her side of the story makes her actions justifiable, and at the end of the day they're both trying to be number one. Travis has no moral justifications for what he's doing outside of trying to have sex with Silvia, and proving he is willing to serve up to the call of duty. Travis is no less justifiable than Jeane, and ultimately they're one in the same, 2 sides of the same coin. There really are No More Heroes in this story.
Henry is the most blatant reflection of Travis, he's literally Travis's twin so he's just a direct reflection. Outside of that, he represents The West to Travis's Eastern design (his clothing and characteristics are representative of a typical samurai, and Henry is a broadsword wielding knight with a thick Irish accent). Their clash at the end is a direct picture of Travis confronting his mirror image, and also a representation of Suda's love for the West and East clashing.
I'm sure I messed up some of them, but there's a video caller "Deadly Individualism: No More Heroes" by GhenryPerez and he explains it in more detail than I can in this comment.

I don’t have a problem with them bringing No More Hero’s to Switch and Steam.
But I kinda wish they brought MadWorld or Anarchy Reigns back (that’s just my opinion)
