Inside Out Characters: Good to MOST Good
Upon its initial release, “Inside Out” taught us all a lot about our emotions and how we interact with those around us. Being able to see through the mind of someone who is embarking on a new chapter in life is both relatable and comforting. It shows us that we’re allowed to feel the way we feel, and sometimes it’s out of our control. That being said, the idea of emotions being characters has left a lot of questions regarding their ethics. Unlike our usual good-to-evil videos, there are no true evil characters in “Inside Out,” so today, we’ll be ranking them based on their morality alone. It is important to note that we will not be including Riley in this ranking, as in the film, her actions are derived from her emotions’ doings. It is also important to mention that when we rank emotions, it is based on the character and not the emotion itself.

They're only counting the main protagonists, besides Riley.
I guess I can agree with not including the other Emotions of many people, Jordan, or Jangles the Clown, given how little screen time they got. Also, Riley’s actions are definitely controlled by her emotions and Jangles is the embodiment of Riley’s coulrophobia (the fear of clowns), which means he’s not a real villain at all.
Fun fact, it was originally fear that was going to be partnered with joy to get back to headquarters, not sadness.
That’s actually pretty interesting. I wonder how the movie would’ve gone down if this happened.
@@cmzf947 I am not sure, but if fear was the equivalent of sadness in the movie, his goal could have been to help Riley come forward to her parents and discuss her fears of letting go of all of the comforts of Minnesota, and having to adapt to a newer, lonelier, and seemingly less comforting environment. What we may not realize is that fear and sadness can work hand in hand, as Riley admitting her true feelings to her family would be very difficult for her, so the emotional climax still could have been there, tears and all. But that's just my opinion, I understand why the writers decided to dump joy out of headquarters with sadness. But seriously, HOW ON EARTH COULD THE EMBODIMENT OF HAPPINESS CRY? IS THERE MORE THAT WE ARE NOT SEEING? WE NEED A SEQUEL!

I’m definitely not surprised with your ranking, especially Joy’s and Bing Bong’s. I’m not saying that Joy is a bad protagonist, but quite the opposite. The way she grows in the movie makes her one of my favorite protagonists in all of Pixar (although that top spot goes to Woody). That being said, I have a video idea.

sometimes it's good to be happy all the time, but you need to let your other emotions out like being angry, sad, having fear and other emotions.
No surprise for how Keats and most moral the emotions are:
Most: Fear
Sadness
Disgust
Joy
Least: Anger
Joy was said to be the villain of Inside Out, but she wasn't necessarily that. Eventually she came to figure out that Sadness, and the other emotions are important too for Riley. You can't always be happy in life. Without the other emotions, especially Anger, you can't be happy. Inside Out is my least favorite of all the Pixar films, but it's still a good movie.🧠👩🏼💛❤💙💚💜😄😡😭😒😨

@ProgamerboiYT I thought he should've gotten the least good of all the characters in this video just based on his appearance scaring Joy, and Sadness to rescue Bing Bong. But he was only trying to be nice to Riley on her birthday. Due to her being scared of him he became that way in her mind.
If there was a real villain for Inside Out it would be an evil counterpart to Joy, Sadness, Bing Bong and the other emotions. For it's gender it would be a male and it would be part Cobra, part scorpion, part tarantula and would be made of black, white, and grey licorice. It's main goal would make Riley a terrible person as revenge for having him be forgotten since he loves to give Riley nightmares. I don't know who would voice him or what personality might be. But I'm sure somebody would have some ideas right?
Disgust did call Joy evil in one of the trailers.

It's stupid because they want others to be happy. If they were a villain they'd want to kill people, make everyone suffer, or become better than everyone..

Okay I have no idea how no one has noticed but the colors of the characters from least to most moral inside Riley's Mind are the same order as the colors on the rainbow

6. Bing Bong (Pink)
Sadness and Bing Bong definitely both deserve to rank this highest.

During the events in Midwest Minnesota of the emotional journey Riley Anderson lived a happy life while at age 11 growing up even though she gave up on things in life while in San Francisco she has social anxiety disorder because of this she tries to stay happy after learning the truth while she explained how she feels to her parents stating that she misses her life in Minnesota and everything she loved most of her memories her old friends and her 1st hockey team her parents feel the way as she was feeling now as they have memories of their previous lives Riley turns 12 while at the hockey league with the foghorns as she met Jordan as the head out together with friends Riley was happier than ever to live a happy life in San Francisco.🌉

They had deleted scenes in the blu-ray edition of the movie, and one of them featured many more emotions (mainly side characters). 1 of them was Schadenfreude and yeah I kinda hope they bring him back.. He might be fun! 😛

I honestly don't know if this sort of list really works for Inside Out. It'd be easy throw Anger and Joy under the bus for acting the way they do under more normal circumstances, but none of the emotions, or Bing Bong for that matter, are actually whole people. They're all just aspects of Riley's psyche. Sure, you could say Riley running away was Anger's fault, but he's really just fulfilling his natural purpose and it was fine until Joy and Sadness' absence threw everything off balance. The emotions aren't meant to be able to adapt to that. they're all necessary exactly as they are for Riley to be a functional person. The list also gets a bit messy when they started measuring these fragments of one child's mind against two complete people, despite the fact that the parents probably should've been excluded just like Riley because their actions are dictated by their emotions as well.

I disagree with Sadness' ranking. She should be BENEATH Joy. You said it yourself, she does what she wants and disregards the results and consequences of her actions. She's very selfish in that sense, placing herself and her desire to feel important or do what she wants over other things, contrary to Joy who, while misguided due to a lack of understanding, is always thinking of Riley and trying to do right by her.
Can you blame her though? Joy was horrible to her and always told her she was no good to Riley. Anger was allowed to rule Riley's emotions, so were Fear and Disgust, but Sadness was literally allowed to do nothing but just staying in a circle. When you feel that way it's hard to care about anyone else.
I don't think it was about Sadness wanting to "feel important". It was about how Riley needs to feel sadness so she can come to grips with missing her friends and her life in Minnesota. Joy wanted Riley to be happy all the time and act like everything was okay. Like Joy tried to take Bing Bong's mind off losing his rocket so he could tell them how to get to the station, but Sadness made him face his loss which made him feel better, and in the memory dump, when Joy was looking at Riley's memory of her team losing the hockey match, she finally realized that it was because of Sadness that her parents and team were able to comfort her and make her better ("Her mom, her dad, and the team, they all came to help because of Sadness.
Nobody likes to feel sad, but sometimes we have to. Sadness makes us able to empathize with people who are in pain.
Facts
Sadness was just trying to do her job in helping Ridley come to terms with her pain. She's no were near as selfish as Joy was, before her character development.

Funny how in the original plot, Bing Bong was suppose to be a villian.
Initially, I actually assumed Bing bong was duplicitous, with him leading them through risky and dangerous places that spelled danger, however when they faded away, it brought me to tears...which is saying a lot, I'm not very emotional for those kind of things normally.
