Today after returning from work I wanted to chill a little, just fired Helldivers 2, automatons on helldive, standard gameplay. Time for extraction, bot drop incoming, nothing new.. for sure? 8 drops : 5x hulk, and fricking AT-AT from Star Wars on face, what the actual fck happened over night.
They buff the spawn rate of AT-AT. Also they can be air dropped now. It's basically changed from never seen them once since they were added to have one drop on your face every time you are too slow to kill the whistle blower.

I kinda prefer Quasar and Scorcher (with stun grenades and the Uzi) to have place for that sweet, sweet shield backpack, but autocannon is dope as well.
Fighting Automatons really does a great job of putting you in a war movie. The soundtrack, the radio chatter, the sound of their weapons, the exploding mortars and anti-air bases. It's very intense.
Automatons are like 10x more fun to me compared to the terminids I enjoy the back and forth gun fights with the bots, like I'm in an actual war over getting my shit kicked in by 3 bile titans, 4 nurse bugs, 5 chargers, 8 stalkers, 10 hunters, so many armored carapaces and an army of bugs surrounding my ass before I even have the chance to reload and I’m getting thrown around like a ragdoll on the battlefield
FOR REAL Sure, Automatons can be hard if you get overwhelmed and if you cant intercept their drops but they are also fine to fight. Yes, that missile Devastator can blast you but its your fault for not seeking cover and play clever. Automatons are literally just a Skill/Tactic Check. Some stratagems also make them really easy, like AC or Shield. But Bugs on the other hand.. Are just annoying as fk. Sure, you can handle it but its just.. Annoying. Its just not fun to play against them. Especially if you got a charger running at you while beeing sliced by stalkers and hunters and beeing slowed by them. Terminids are like mosquitos: You can easily smack them but even their existence will annoy you
Yeah, because the weapons in game have so little magazines, you spent likes half of your time reloading rather than fighting. If they have larger magazines then bugs are so much more easier.
To fellow Helldivers, Extraction ship Pilican air support is available! So for those that dont know this. When you call the extraction, you can leave the zone in the couple of seconds where the Pelican is coming for a landing. If you do that the Pelican will stay hovering above the extraction and shoot with it's nose turret everything in sight. It's incredibly powerful and can clear completely overrun LZs in a matter of seconds. Please pass on this important message to all helldivers for the sake of maximum democracy. One of the fact I like about between these factions is that, one grenade can make a lot of difference for the bots but not the bugs ... and the next thing you know, hunter(s) will jumpscare you from the back.

Its for this reason i opt for the shrapnel burst when Im playing more mobile armor sets as this allows me to eliminate the flare bots before they have a chance to realize they are under attack and call for reinforcements
the medic at the end running in while calling reinforcements... that be me but with the defender and shield, taking the shoots and yelling "get some!" as i hold the ground for my team to return lol
with automaton is like: "so the lasers are coming from there and I can hear the chainsaws around me" with terminids: "don't tell me, its behind me isn't"
Personally I prefer automatons cause I like using terrain and cover to my advantage. With bugs they will just swarm you endlessly and your only viable strategy is don't let go of the trigger
I remember that i couldnt throw a stratagem far enough to be effective so i readied the strat, and made a mad dash to get as close as i could to the base so that the orbital lazer could just do its magic. I failed i was blasted back by a sentry tower dropping the strat, resulting in only a burnt mangled corpse and a ant hill.
Back in the days of the Creek, I found the Bots to be my personal Hell. But nowadays Ive done Bots so much to the point where I prefer getting shot at by mechanized Warhammer 40k than a literal zerg rush that has more bodies than I have bullets, rockets, grenades, or gallons of napalm
I've never understood the opinion that fighting the bugs is easier than the bots. The bots you can stay nice and far away and plink them off from a distance, then move in and clean up once the priority targets like Factory Striders, and Hulks are dealt with. You only have to momentarily change positions to avoid them zeroing their weapons on you, or to avoid Berserkers, so you have plenty of time to breath when fighting bots. Bugs you're constantly having to kite and play ring around the rosie in order to not get sliced to pieces, and the game just doesn't stop sending them at you. A bug calling a bug breach successfully completes the call only 0.5 seconds into their pheromone animation, so it's almost impossible to kill a bug before they can call a breach unless you are already attacking the bug that is calling it in, and when that breach contains multiple chargers, 50 hunters, and a bile titan, you don't have time to clear them all before the next breach is called in, so if you cannot stay on the move; constantly kiting them around in circles until you get out of range and the chaff despawn, you're as good as dead. My theory is that the people who have this opinion that bugs are a breeze must surely be playing on lower difficulties. I most often play on 7 (wearing light armour for both bots and bugs to stay mobile), and on 7 bots are plenty manageable and fun to fight against, but bugs are just not fun. Sure, it's doable, but it's a lot more frustrating, time consuming, and stressful to clear the map or complete stationary objectives when fighting bugs.
I mean, bots are basically blind if you hit them with the good ol' hit and run tactics. Damn bugs can sniff you out in a jiffy, but they have no range so we've got that on them Two different styles, depending on what you wanna do today

Bugs are unpredictable, stopping a bug breech is much harder than a dropship as you'll rarely have time to engage the smaller bugs first and you can't just shoot the bug breech down as it flies past. Bots require planning, bugs require a flamethrower.
The amount of people who have this EXACTLY backward is astounding. PSA to all Terminid players: Once you get used to the strats and loadouts needed for Bots, you'll struggle going back to bugs. I suggest looking up bot specific weapon and stratagem tier lists, as well as figuring out how detection works and the fact that bots can't smell you like bugs can. Also, their drop ships are much more bearable than constant bug breaches and their heavies are also easier to take care of than a mass of Chargers, Spewers, and Titans, especially if one of your teammates draws aggro so you can attack the weakspots directly and/or you just get good at aiming the autocannon/AMR for face slits. Literally, the thing you hate most about bots (they engage from a distance) is what makes them so much easier than bugs. Being swarmed by bugs quickly becomes impossible to get out of. The bugs HAVE to and TRY to get close every time. The bots are happy to stay further away for longer, allowing you to center yourself and aim true every time.

Funnily enough, I sometimes find automatons to be more relaxing than termanids since I prefer getting shot at over being swarmed.

If no one else on the team brings it, I almost always load up that sweet sweet orbital EMS strike. Heavily underrated.

I like anti-mat rifle and the shield backpack, but autocannon is def better for bot fortifications and tanks

It's amazing that helldivers2 is essentially a 2 game in one, pve shooter vs bots and pve monster shooters vs bugs, over valued for the price
It's way easier to sneak past Bots than it is Bugs, until your squadmate starts shooting at them and blows your cover.
More people need to start using the HMG turret in this game man, it’s so helpful when you get into the later difficulties

Bots force you to be tactical, use guerrilla warefare, and quickly take out all the enemies before they fire that damn flare. Exhilarating

When I fight automatons, I always think: this is a perfectly defendable position. And then leave.
