There were three glass plants in Germany that made CRTs. Panels (fronts) and funnels (rear parts) were produced seperately and later joined during manufacture at the actual CRT plant.
Samsung-Corning in Tschernitz, former Eastern Germany / GDR, then VEB Fernsehteilewerk Tschernitz. The glass plant still exists, now producing low-iron solar glass for photovoltaic, solar heating and greenhouses: Glasmanufaktur Brandenburg (GMB).
Schott in Mainz - Schott still makes all kinds of special glass, but no more CRTs. Still, theire not the company they used to be.
Philips in Aachen - the Philips plant makes car headlights and other stuff nowadays, but no more glass production at all.

@@andreasu.3546 No, it's not a rebadged Samsung, it's Grundig made. I can tell from the layout, the green ribbon cables and the white flyback. Grundig never made CRTs, they used Valvo and Videocolor tubes in the '80s, Videocolor in the mid '90s, then Samsung in the late '90s-early '00s. There were a lot attempts to do so. But the deflection is too slow, and too distorted as well, so it would be a nice thing to view at, but not a good measurement. The declection is a magnetic one and so the maximum frequency for the vertical and horizontal deflection is limited by the coils and the inductance.

CRTs have an indended way of pressurizing them when recyclying. There is an evacuation port under plastic part of electron gun. Breaking it with a pair of pliers is considered the safest ways of 'defusing' a CRT. Some people also hammer a nail or a screwdriver into anode connection point, but IMO, it is not as safe as breaking the evacuation nipple.
BTW. not all CRT TVs have to go to recycling yet. Retro computer/console enthusiasts still prefer them as displays over LCDs with over 9000 adapters and converters.

I've used them for that and other things with hit-and-miss results but usually work pretty well if you use with flux. Also since they're tinned copper usually... They're great for ground straps and things like that. Define mash can carry a lot do to skin effect if needed... But is also flexible enough that it can really help make ground connections and things in bed or difficult areas. Like between a chassis and a frame or something like that

Those CRT TV's were also once modern compared to the vacuum tube wooden TV's. And LCD's will once look obsolete compared to some tiny boxes projecting a big picture on a wall, or flexible TV's you can turn into a roll, or something projecting a 3D image mid air, or even projecting image directly into your brain :).

On to fakt málokdo už ocení.

*Connect a high voltage to the power supply pins of the main microcontroller, video amp ic and rest of the chips which you cannot reuse. They will blow up and your tv will not work anymore.
