I feel so awful for both Lex and Alice! :c Alice is so blinded by her love for Lex she can't see he's not interested in her, even though he's not straight up with her straight away, I still feel so bad for him because he's just trying to be nice and instead misleads Alice because he's trying to redeem himself.

Dal really is like a big brother when he’s talking to Cloe. It made me love him even more. How he sees the best in people.
The show was really good at the way it highlighted and raised awareness of issues like teen pregnancy/ post natal depression/bulimia/bullying & verbal abuse/ torture/alcoholism/death/grief and in this episode suicide.
Ahead of it's time in that regard.
Feels like it's the only depiction of bulimia I have seen.
Love that the fire outside the mall is still going strong after all the cleaning up of the city.

That was so honorable of Tai San, she's always secretely liked Lex and is such a modest tolerable person that has no lustful desires to make a move on it. She's brilliant to do that for her friend Alice. go tai san!!

Not sure why they had to come out with the Billy Boy character all of a sudden. Why didn't they use that other tribe leader who's been an asshole to the Mallrats throughout the season? Y'know the one who tried stirring up trouble at the party a few episodes back after Bray and Ebony won the dance, the dude who burped in Dal's face and the same guy who took the rest of his tribe on strike from the farm. They developed him pretty well. I think he appears later when The Chosen invades and he bends the knee. It'd make more sense using him than suddenly springing this guy we've never of before into the plot.

I love Dall, I love Jack, I love Ryan. I'm really enjoying the Ellie and Ryan devolping friendship. What I dont love is the writers not allowing besties to just be besties. Jack and Dall, Cloe and Patsy. Their struggles are dragged on to long. Jack Dall and Ellie should have been sorted by now. I suppose Cloe and Patsy's tension here is different from when they where fighting over Dall. This more interesting, but still. Sometimes I just want a few not so complicated relationships on the show.

Poor Ryan. I dont understand why he feels so low he would want to commit suicide over this.. Moving away for a fresh start makes more sense in this context. But I suppose suicidal thoughts dont always make sense. They can appear for what seems to others poor reasons. I would know. As somebody who struggeld with suicidal thoughts let me give those struggeling one bit of advice. Postpone. Delay. If nothing else, if you cant convince yourself life is worth it in that moment, if you cant feel better trough music or distractions or loved ones, just delay. You can always still do it the day after. And life wont get much worse in just 24 hours. You lose nothing from postponing, but could gain things. So no matter how bad you feel, and what you planned or prepared, dont go into debate with yourself. Dont try to convince yourself life is not worth it, nor that it's worth it. When your in a bad way that will often just make you debate with that bad voice in your head. And that bad voice will say bad things when you engage it. So dont convince yourself of the beauty of life when your really down in the dump. That can backfire when your mind is not reasonable. And it often isn't when your at that point. Just postpone. tell your voice, ''later''. It will remain more silent. And almost always delaying will result in the moment passing, and you finding legid reasons to enjoy life again at least for the moment without needing to convince yourself while the bad voice is in charge.
Of course I am no specialist. If you struggle with this and it's an option to you please find professional help. But if there is no acces to it, as a suicidal thoughts survivor, my main advice when the voice is so strong your about to do it and you cant or dont want to reach out to anyone, just delay. Dont debate. Just delay. That saved my life.

The weird thing is that the show never mentions thin privilege, fatphobia, fatshaming and stuff like that... as if it doesn't exist. But the actions of the characters show us that beauty norms like that do exist. How they handled Alice always felt kinda dubious because we all get the subtext, yet we never see anyone mention it, reflect on it, call it out. They probably wanted to avoid the cliché of a fat character being reduced to their weight. I get that and I love that Alice is much much more than "the fat character". But somehow not mentioning it at all and only showing it through subtext like the storyline with Lex (who's into all women... but the one who isn't thin) feels disingenuous. It's like political correctness gone wrong... like when white people say "I don't see color".
Oh please, thats US PC crap. No such thing as fatphobia. Being overweight isn't healthy and not something to aspire to for anyone. Comparing it to racism is laughable since people aren't born fat like they're born with skin color, facial features, a certain hair type and skull shape. Lex is a fit male. If he wants a woman who is thinner and closer to his size, it makes sense. I'm petite and a overweight large guy would crush me. Now if it were a large overweight guy only going for thin women, I could see what you're saying. This is New Zealand in the late 90s early 2000s not obnoxious US 2010s

If there is no fatphobia, where are all the other fat characters in The Tribe or in any other TV show? I mean, besides the few they usually put in for fat jokes. The Tribe is the exception to the rule in this case. Fat people face stigma, fetishization, objectification, barriers to health care, employment and housing. There are studies about it, easy to find with a little of googling, and no, they're not just from the USA.
By the way: I didn't compare fatphobia to racism. I compared false, disingenuous political correctness (like saying: “I don't see color“) to the way the show treated Alice. There is a difference.

I’ve always loved the Tribe, but I wish there were more of the minorities included to the show, like lbgt-people and people with bigger body types. I know Ned comes in later but there should’ve been more of the differences people actually struggle with in real life
@@paulapierrot9542 fat shaming/fat phobia isn't a thing. These adverts like dove and Gillette showing morbidly obese women are encouraging unhealthy lifestyles. I'm all for showing normal sized woman rather than size 0 twigs but showing someone who is a size 20 and saying it's normal when in actual fact it's extremely dangerous, isn't helping anyone. Most doctors in Britain nowadays are scared to tell people that they need to lose weight for the sake of their health because they get accused of "fat shaming" even though heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and cancer are constantly increasing. It really isn't that hard to eat healthy and exercise

We saw the issues with Lex and Ryan demanding more food in season 1. Alice worked on a farm, most fat people wouldn't be on a farm.
