Dark Master Zorc was based on the Zorc that appeared in the table top RPG arc that introduced Bakura/Yami Bakura in the manga and season zero, hence the lack of the Dragon dong.
I couldn’t put a single OG Vanilla Ritual anywhere below S tier on aesthetic alone. Crab Turtle, Hungry Burger, Performance of Sword, Skull Guardian, MASKED BEAST, FORTRESS WHALE?!? I could go on forever. Prob bc they were all common bulk so every kid had them and the blue is so pretty. Memory making
I can absolutely appreciate the artwork of the old ritual monsters! Except for Performance of Sword. I don't know why, I never really like that one 🤷♂️
Skull Guardian is even cooler when you look at its Japanese name and lore, it's some kind of divine entity that seeks out and punishes evil. You can see it even better with the new retrain it got.
When it comes to old Ritual Monsters, they really are some of my favorite cards. Gimmicky, experimental, but so darn cool. For a favorite old Ritual, I've got to go with the GOAT Black Luster Soldier. With the plethora of Warrior support, even back then, he could be incredibly threatening. But if we're talking modern Rituals, I'm giving it to Chaos MAX Dragon. It is the Duel Monster embodiment of big dick energy.
Speaking of Zork, you've complained that it's not based on its looks from Millennium World arc, but it's actually based on the manga panel from first Bakura arc where he used him in his dnd-esque game as final boss.
@@burblebineabbletv Well if you want to see something more resembling this end game Zorc than Diabound Kernel is the most similar to that, because it is based on original Diabound which was guardian spirit of King of Thieves Bakura and eventually turned into this Zorc.
Relinquished control is my favorite deck in goat. There are so many free lv 1 ritual fodder (scapegoat, sinister serpent), combos insanely well with tsykuyomi, is very searchable, and fuels it's own chaos engine with manju being the light and relinquished being the dark
Reshef the Dark Being is such an interesting card to me because it actually served as the villain of Yu-Gi-Oh! Reshef of Destruction. I don't know why they went for something like Reshef as something to focus on, but I always appreciate it when they do that, like how the GX manga had Tragoedia as a villain. I wish they'll give them more support in the future.
Zorc is actually pretty goated in goat format, his effect is made even better by priority rules. Chaos ritual with zorc is my favorite deck of the format... even when I roll a 6
I always thought it was funny how Yugi brought out Black Luster Soldier against Mai and it was kind of treated as another clutch comeback card, but then against Pegasus he summons the much weaker Magician of Black Chaos and it's like his equivalent to Gohan going Super Saiyan 2. And then those guys are almost never seen again.
I think you undersold Shinato. Every 2000+ attack monster in goat format will be a juicy target for your opponent’s removal. Shinato having much better stats than any other early ritual monster just makes it better and having a pretty decent effect on top of that is a cherry on top. By far the best early game ritual beater. You really should have put it in B
I love those oldschool yugioh videos and I think you rated these card very well. Except Skullguardian. He deserves S + (He's my favorite yugioh card if you can't tell by my Profile picture)
I want Konami to make support for these non-Effect Ritual monsters. Not make an archetype and reject them with upgrades that are better, but still mediocre... Looking at Skull Guardian, Hungry Burger and Black Luster Soldier. I have seen the same issue with Thunder Dragon Archetype which has made 2 fusions that are so easy to summon and so much better, that there is no reason to run Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon, the card that defined Forbidden Memory (literal Staple) and one of the easiest Fusion Summonable monsters of its time. Also recall how I wanted a Metalmorph archetype? Yes, we are getting one... but they are all retrains including the Trap. Konami just made a new Metalmorph, Metalzoa and Red-Eyes Black FULLMetal Dragon. It makes me kinda sad. Black Luster Soldier might be one of the best IMO simply because you can at least use it for Dragon Master Knight material with King of the Swamp. I think in Edison Format it has a certain niche. Paladin of White Dragon thankfully sees some action in GOAT apparently. I hope we get the final arc Zorc printed as a monster. I think it will happen considering we recently got Crimson Dragon, Coloress and Earthbound Immortal Red Nova. While Konami does that, can they print Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon fused with Mamoth GY? Maybe.
it would be interesting to try and rate these in current ygo, aka what kind of generic support would help these cards. Obviously none of them are viable but something could be done when comparing them in relation to each other
I really like shinato in that duel of noah vs yugi and was the most powerfull ritual until the drytron still waiting for a remake and finally be a spirit monster
Are Javelin Beetle and Zera the Mant not Classics? Zera the Mant is one of my favorites, i love the design and i wish he got more love considering every other Zera did
Doriado really does need a deck revolving around her to make her gimmick work. Maybe retrain her (and make it good for once), Fuh-Rin-Ka-Zan, and the Element monsters.
Hold on. Magician of Black Chaos released *after* BLS? I couldn't even get my hands on BLS until a Yugi structure deck that released a little while after the first movie.
Eh, I'd have to disagree. The way I look at it, if my opponent controls Shinato and every other Ritual monster from B tier and up, I'm personally more apt to use my resources in removal Trap cards against it before I went for something else. So, while it's not necessarily weaker to trap cards by any means, it's still the biggest magnet for them. I also say it has the weakest effect comparatively to everything in B through S tier. At the very most, I'd move it up to a hard B-, still falling under everything else in the tier.
@@burblebineabbletv I mean now I feel you've taken my critic a little too seriously. I still overall liked your vid my guy. I'm just saying the critic of shinato is a lacking one
@rundyftw yeah exactly. Shinatos placement on the list isn't even bad. It's just that, traps existing to counter it, isn't a negative. That's true of literally every monster in the game that isn't a towers, and even they have weaknesses. Thats like saying a towers monsters negative trait is that it can be kaijiu'd
Surprisingly, Zera the Mant wasn't available during GOAT Format, as it debuted 2 years after Cybernetic Revolution, which marked the end of the format. 🤷♂️
Hungry Burger was never good, but it is #1 in my heart.

Crab Turtle used to be my main man. Dark Magician never stood a chance.
The 50s always get ya 😅
Yeah for sure. This is best part about ritual monsters. On the play ground we can summon them without the ritual magic card.
