    Off balance fan blade for oscillations....genius. fairly quiet too...nice job!

    It doesn't even have to vibrate. I made one years ago from a truck wiper Motor and just a tupper box. Mounted at 45° or so, some sand inside and then let it rotate slowly. Works just fine. If you want a mirror shine, Change the sand for bits of chalk (School chalk broken into rough cubes) annd some ground cork. That is much less noisy.

    like everything about this design. the psu / the large plastic bucket / funnel / old fan / no springs IE rope to hang it. Just simple easy going to make this one.

    Adding coil springs on each string can help. The springs should be light enough to stretch slightly with the weight of the unit. Nice cheap solution, it's function isn't all that different from an industrial version we preload with 80lbs of media.

    Fun to make. Even more fun to use.

    This makes so much sense on all levels. I am looking at making one but wanted something larger. I have a bunch of 12v high amp PSU's laying around from 3d printer projects. I feel like this would be perfect. Hanging it is brilliant too for saving space. I think ill explore this.

    You know. Looking at the little hobby kits at various craft stores. And, shocking enough. I have everything you used to make this. It is a shame that stores want you to pay an arm and a leg for PLASTIC PRODUCTS. that make me search how to did it. It may not be warranted. But, atleast When I make something I have a feel for how long it will last, and is actually half the fun. Once again thanks for sharing. 👍

    I've been watching a bunch of DIY tumbler videos and when you were cutting the fan blades off and left 2 of them attached I thought to myself "that thing is going to be so out of balance it is going to shake like crazy." Then I went DUH and slapped myself on the forehead.

  • @ClownWhisper
    @ClownWhisper Před 6 lety +2

    nice job but I'm not so certain that that Motors going to last very long it's not really built for that kind of abuse the vibrations going to tear up the bearings in it

    • @Ritalie
      @Ritalie Před 4 lety +1

      Seems like the only way around the bearing problem is to use a belt drive system, with a long belt that soaks up a lot of movement before the motor experiences any vibration.

    Don't expect much life. Don't put the imbalance on the motor bearings, they aren't meant for it. Use an intermediary stage with appropriate bearings for the lateral loads.
