@@jamescassidy4045 people used to refer to them as the poor man’s dynamite since valley people had a hand in them. I’ve never used the dynamite, so I don’t know.
@@TheGarageRecordingSC Ya, I dunno, people just say stuff on forums lol. Some 100's may have had a Valley People VCA, but that's it. I've owned many Symetrix Compressors, and the CL100 is much different. The CL-100 is a much more relaxed/chill Compressor, and can't come close to the Smack/Snap that basically makes the Dynamites so special. It's basically in the name lol. Actually, I've owned almost every Symetrix Compressor, and I've used the Dynamites, and if you want to get closer for cheap, find a CL-150 with VP VCA's in them. Most will have them though. They are a way different beast than the Cl-100, and have a much sharper knee, and snappy/fast Attack and release. You can definitely get closer to that Dynamite style snap with them way more than the 100's. Not saying they are super close, but a lot closer than the 100's, and honesty for the price you can get them at still, I recommend them a lot more. I liked my 100's on Bass, and Guitars, but didn't keep mine too long. It was actually one of my first Compressors.
I love my Burl Mothership. It’s amazing how much musicality the BX1 and BX5 transformers add to the sound. The valley people dynamite sounds pretty good…I still prefer the Rupert Neve Designs Shelford channel tho. I’ll have to check out the valley people dynamite unit.
I agree the Burls certainly sound musical. I’ve never heard the shelford, but I have old neves I bought a long time ago they sound good. So I’m sure the shelford is great.
Excellent job and choices.
👍👍
Valley People sounds great. The Dolby 361 adds that magic to the top end with zero brittle sound. I need to use mine more often.
Absolutely Malcom, it’s adds the sizzle without the brittle!
The Valley People sounds great! You didn’t recently outbid me on those did you?! 🤣 hah.. As always, thanks for sharing!
Nope I’ve owned this one for years now.
Great video! What are the settings of the toggle switches on the dynamite?
Sounds great man!! I had a pair of the poor man’s Dynamite, the Symmetrix, CL 100, a few years ago and wish I never sold them now!!
The good news is you can still get them at a fair price.
@@RiotHomeRecording yeah, brother, I think I need to get those back!!!
Those sound nothing like the Dynamite's though. Not trying to be a dick. Just being real with ya.

Shelford is amazing but in fairness, they cost $4k per channel so they are in a different price league than the Valley People unit.
Love the Dyna-Mite!
