You know when you're 10 and you don't quite understand the lyrics to this song you blast on your CD player, and it sounds really cool and it's what you like about it? Then you grow up and over 15 years later you revisit the songs you used to scream along, but now you have the maturity to really let it sink in just how meaningful it is, and it ties in just how relevant it happens to be to your current life and suddenly you find yourself wanting to scream the lyrics out the window, but your family is asleep and you just... breathe out the lyrics really hard. And try not to cry.

THIS SONG WAS WRITTEN BY AVRIL LAVIGNE. That is one of the reasons why this is such a great song. The song was written by Avril and recorded for her first album "Let Go" (2002) but she didn't like the song for the album, years later she gave the song to Kelly in 2004. There is a demo version from Avril for her album in 2002 and there is a whole new version recorded by Avril in the studio in 2022.

Almost makes me cry
I was young and serving in the Air Force w a young lady who i remember would keep playing this cuz it was her favorite song. She would play this in the car, the dorms, her family's house etc etc. So much that it would annoy me sometimes lol. Fast forward and we were sent on deployment. She never made it back. I just happened to run across this song while searching for something else on here and it brought back a flood of memories. She never got the chance to get married, have kids, grow old, experience civilian life afterwards, see any of our peers' kids grow up, or start a business like she hoped to do one day. She was genuinely a beautiful soul...

Now I am older, have left home, and I still listen to this song when I get down, and want to breakaway. But no matter where you travel in life, you can't run away from your problems, and they will follow you from city to city. Oh Lord this song brings back memories as it described my life back then. I was in college by day, working at Wendys by night...dreaming of literally being able to BREAKAWAY. I was blessed to be able to do that. Finally left my hometown in 2006 and have lived in Atlanta, Dayton/Cincinnati, Syracuse, Orlando, Tallahassee, Louisville, Florence Ky, Pittsburgh and now Tampa as an over the road bus and truck driver for the past 18 years.

I have a lowkey soft spot for pop music. This song played on the radio a day or two ago and Ive realized it's about 19 years old. At 34 I still think this is one of Kelly's greatest songs.
I listen to death and black metal, but Kelly Clarkson and Sia, drill my soul.
This song...I remember the hardest period of my life. From 2005-2008. I was struggling with drug addiction and homelessness and sometimes I would go to places like Border's books or the Galactic virgin store because they had listening stations. I remember listening to Kelly's first album and it was one of the few good things I had in my life. The lyrics made me emotional because I was frustrated with the darkness of drug addiction and I needed something to hang on to. Needless to say, Kelly Clarkson's music got me through that dark period and I eventually got off drugs, now at 16 years. When I listen to this song, I get choked up because I almost didn't make it. Thank you Kelly for getting me through this dark period in my life. I love you!
