    Thanks for sharing your settings, Stephen. I'm new to M4/3 and set up my OM-1 MKii after watching your series of videos on the MKi. This a very concise and helpful update.

    When you use MC-14 teleconverter adding on your gears, how do you change your custom setting?

      I don’t have a MC-14 or any teleconverter so I have not tried it. :)

    Did you say you keep it on for release priority as the recording was indistinct?

    • @StephenIngraham
      @StephenIngraham  Před 4 měsíci

      I do. Others will say no. Release priority means that the camera will not shoot if not in focus.

    What do you use to edit your photos

      I use Photomator on my iPad Pro and occasionally Pixelmator Pro on the Mac. Video in the works on editing bird photos with Photomator.

    Hi Stephen,
    I’m having an issue with my new OM-1 mark II and could really use your help. I’m trying to set up the combination of Auto ISO and Minimum Shutter Speed as per your instructions, but while the ISO is behaving as expected the shutter speed setting in the menu does not seem to be affecting the lower limit. What am I doing wrong?

      @StephenIngraham  Před 3 měsíci

      One thing that is not obvious from the manual is that the ISO setting takes precedence over the shutter speed…in other words if it is not possible to give the correct exposure with your combination of highest ISO and lowest shutter speed, the camera will choose a lower shutter speed instead of increasing the ISO. Think of the ISO limit as a “hard” limit, and shutter speed as a “soft” limit. It keeps at or above the lowest shutter speed whenever possible, but it will not sacrifice the ISO setting…or the correct exposure for that matter. Is that what is going on?

      @@StephenIngraham Hi Stephen,
      Thank you for your quick response. Yes, that is precisely what is going on, as I figured out this morning when there was more light available to bring the ISO value below the set maximum, which results in the minimum (e.g. 1/500 sec) set shutter being selected. Additionally, it seems that the shutter speed isn’t increased beyond that until there’s enough light hitting the sensor to drive the ISO limit to its lowest set threshold (e.g ISO 200). Which does make sense - but I could swear that this is not the way I remember the algorithm working on my OM-1, when the camera would not go below the shutter speed minimum I had set, period, no matter what the ISO did. Am I wrong about this? I’m getting up there, so it’s definitely possible. 🤔

      @@michaelhall2709 It worked the same way in the OM-1 :)

      @@StephenIngraham Okay, I suppose it’s preferable that I’m losing my marbles as opposed to my precious brand-new camera malfunctioning. 😝
      Seriously, though, I wonder if it wouldn’t be useful to have an option, analogous to shutter vs. aperture priority, where you could choose shutter or aperture vs. ISO priority, in situations where the camera is determining those settings on its own.

      Most designed for digital lenses are sharpest at full aperture, so I am not sure why you would want to be able to assign aperture priority. It might be nice to be able to choose between lowering ISO and raising shutter speed. That I would really like. Sony cameras give you that choice. :) No camera is perfect.
