Shri Dipankar Sen ji, you have made all of us very rich by your contribution. I have listened to many versions of this, but to see Pandit-ji sing live at a relatively young age is matchless. I just want to say 'The God is singing and I am lucky to get a chance to listen to this'.

This is incredible. The final time i heard him live was at the Nehru Park in 2000. There used to be concerts at the park during early summer mornings. I had just moved to Delhi from Bangalore and went to this concert with my wife. He sang quite a few ragas from the Asavari thaat. I will never forget this. It started raining a short way into the concert and all of the Rasikas (audience?) stayed on many huddling under trees. Panditji sang for nearly two hours with an umbrella held over him. The Shamiana was sagging under the weight of water. We were all soaked. I shall never forget that spectacle nor the great music. Komal Rishab Asavari was the main raaga. After all these years i still can hear the distant thunder and his voice in the mandara sthaayi from that morning. Many thanks for this post.

I was there in that concert with my year old daughter on lap. It started raining and some offered umbrella to me and they stood in rain listening to Panditji. Just on first sur of Panditji, they yummed "wah kya sher ka awaaz hai" .. Really felt proud to hear that. Doordarshan may have that recording in archives

Thank you for the upload, which I had somehow missed out on in November 2014. This is an excellent document of Panditji in fine form and in the style or gayaki he finally settled down upon. In older recordings, e.g. late fifties/early sixties, the style is different and he appears to be searching what suits his voice and gharana ideally. I am not trying to be judgmental on what is/was better for this doyen of Hindustani Classical Music but merely expressing how I felt about the evolving style of the Maestro. Thanks again.
